The WBA has taken sanctioning body corrupton to an entirely new level. We all know Interm Titles are only supposed to be issued when a Champion is injured for an extended period of time and that the WBA simply hands them out to get more sacioning fees but now these scumbags have actually become an impediment for their own Champions when trying to make a title defense.
- Murray gets to fight for an interm title for no reason against Jorge Navarro
- WBA allows Murray to keep that title in spite of challenging Martinez for the WBC belt so long as he unifies with Golovkin in his next fight.
- WBA grants Murray and exemption on unifying with Golovkin so he can have the Garth Woods tune up fight.
- Now after Murray ducks Golovkin they reward him (and were probably the cause of his duck) by forcing Golovkin to be "upgraded" so Murray can fight for the WBA Regular title.
This is the exact same thing that happened with Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam.
They allowed Sturm to duck his mandatory Golovkin by upgrading him to Super Champion and were having Golovkin and N'jikam fight for the vacant Regular Title. N'jikam refused to fight so they reward him with an interm belt and he then proceeded to refuse unifying with Golovkin on several occasions over a two year period. When Golovkin signed with K2 and they were able to force the WBA to demand unification N'jikam gave up his title rather than unify.
The WBA has treated Golovkin as bad as an sanctioning body has ever treated a Champion.

maybe they can, but what I'm saying is a lot of potential talented fighters would simply get shunned, ignored or won't even be discovered if they abolish belts completly. You don't think so? That would be bad for the sport.... there needs to be a change, but I wouldn't say that change is to just say "fuk the belts"
Now belts such as the Interim WBC Super-Diamond, Platinum champion in recess...... yes.... **** those
You're right but I would think once the sanctioning bodies get the idea they would stop the bs.

WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF , and Ring Magazine World Titles make it 5 titles per divisions but now we have too look at the WBC & WBA Super title as an important title so how many world champions is that now?
Keith Thurman is holding the WBA interim belt but he doesn't have to fight WBA world champion Broner because WBA is now making "Super" title important just like the WBC super champion.

If you ask me, boxers are the ones to blame here. They pay them and keep them in business. Just my opinion.

Without belts though...... 95% of boxers won't even have a chance to have a career or get an opportunity on a big stage to be recognized. Legit belts and titles are fine..... but from there is where it just becomes a giant joke

Its sad that Golovkin never got the chance to win the WBA title the proper way by beating the champion. Wasn't his fault, he was avoided like the plague.
Boxing is crying out for: Less belts.
Boxing is getting: More belts.
Can't believe how little outside influence and control there is for the sport compared with others.
It's a shambles, heck even put a lock on the individual org's themselves hav ing more than one "World Champion" at least.
It's a minimal start, and doesn't beging to tackle the growing org list.
I said in the other thread, that a WBA interim champion is pretty much just the WBA version of the mandatory. The mandatory fights for the Regular title, which in turn is a mandatory for the Super title, which is the actual championship and the only one to take note of. If there isnt a super champ in the division, the interim champ is the mandatory for the sole belt holder. It's the same as the WBC silver.
BTW, the WBC is 100000x worse than the WBA will ever be. Makes me feel sick
Not true since the mandatory has to actually fight the Champion. With what they are doing the WBA is preventing the top rated boxer from having to fight the Champion and rewarding them for it.
And unfortunately Golovkin has to hold on desperately to that belt or he loses the one thing that would entice anyone to fight him.
This truth is the saddest part but you would think now that Golovkin is a star they would be helping him not hurting him which is what they're doing.

And mark my words, it won't be long beford The RING turns into one of them too.
Every once in a while when a certain fight or fighter comes around they change their rules one way or another.
They're already doing it with their rankings.
