I read a lot of posts like "since Broner couldn't hurt Paulie he won't be able to hurt Maidana." But I've seen Cotto pummel Paulie and he took it like a champ. And nobodies ever put the KO to the guy. Obviously Maidana is bigger and stronger with the harder punch but does that really equal toughness? We've seen big punchers like Berto and others fold when their opponents prove to them they can take their power shots. Is Maidana any different from those guys?
You are right about Paulie's ability to take a punch. He might have a better chin than Maidana and Maidana has been in some hard fights with good punchers and never been stopped. Both Paulie and Maidana are tough but the difference is Paulie is a soft punching welterweight and Maidana has real power in both hands and throws lots of bombs round after round.
Maidana is tougher than pauli,,,,,,
broner was overconfident vs pauli who was super motivated,,,
broner will be super motivated vs maidana,,
Maidana has the power to hurt broner,,, and garcia has really improved maidana's overall boxing skills,, i like how he sets up shots behind the jab,,
I still favor broner slightly over maidana,,
but to answer the thread, pauli is a gutsy fighter but maidana more dangerous

You seem pretty confident in Maidana.
I have an eye for this sort of thing..
Maidana is special... He just didn't know it yet till he hooked up with Garcia.
If Paulie had power... he would be P4P one of the best, no doubt about it. His chin is very durable and he had slick boxing abilities.
If Maidana had quick hands and was slicker he would be as well, what is yall's point, really?
If if if... Malignaggi's sun is set... Maidana may yet break onto the p4p list with only what he has
Maidana gets hit more and fights a more dangerous game plan, he is tough no doubt. No point in saying who is tougher both are top of the food chain in that regard IMO.
Paulie didn't know where he was when Cano dropped him one fight back.
This is true! I can't picture Chino gettin dropped by a guy like Cano... Or the fight going the distance for that matter.. Not sure what was going on there...
Another thing..that monstrous shot Khan hit Maidana with would have froze up the legs and taken the will of 95% of other fighters (Rocky Martinez?).. Mags has been stopped a couple of times, including via the body shots of ricky hatton, yes?... And he was stopped by khan while maidana was not..
The more I think about it the more I think Maidana is superior in every way except handspeed and footwork.
And I maintain the dudes bankin on a Broner stoppage need to find a new hope
I don't know if he'll stop him but the comparison is stupid given Maidana and Malignaggi are complete opposites in how they fight. Broner is at a much greater advantage against aggressive, stationary fighters that will trade in the pocket with him, which is why I think Maidana is a good fight for him.
Maidana got frustrated against Morales n Alexander, once he sees he cant hit Broner he probably will throw hes game plan away
Good point, I also thought he appeared frustrated in the Alexander fight. Based on that I'd say Paulie is slightly tougher mentally because he goes into every fight knowing he's outgunned.
Paulie has heart... Chin
So does maidana. I'd say it about comparable, only Maidana hits a universe harder. Another thing... When it comes to a warlike savage mentality that's maidana all the way. In a lot of his fights, malignaggi was content surviving. So as far as that aspect. Maidana is superior.. He will always aim to get the guy back whereas pulie is an expert survivor
Marco's toughness should never be in question. He made Ortiz quit in front of a pro Mexican crowd, gave khan hell, and is not afraid to take punishment to dish out his own as most of his fights already shown.
No question, the dude is one tough S.O.B.
True he made Ortiz quit but Ortiz is a quitter. I never said Maidana can't take a beating. I just think the whole Broner can't stop Maidana because he couldn't stop Paulie argument is flawed.

Hes been boxing a little better with Robert Garcia, this will make it an interesting match

That's a good question. I really don't think he is.
Paulie's not only tough, but he has a slick style that minimizes damage.
You might think he's getting hurt, but he's rolling, using angles, and blocking shots as well.
Good point..
