I read today on twitter a good summary: "Fans are not making GGG the boogeyman, his peers are making him the boogeyman by the way they act when a GGG fight is mentioned."
In other words don't expect a full and honest explanation from the other side. The way they are being silent when the whole world keeps bombarding them with only one question "WHY?".
I wouldnt expect a full and honest explanation from either side! This is boxing after all. I really like the fight and have a ton of respect for both guys, I'm sure it will happen soon enough.
He may well have thought it wasnt enough, even though it was more. Was he happy with his purse v Martinez?:dunno: If it builds his purse and sharpens him up then it makes sense to me. There are also two side to every story, it'll be interesting to hear what Murray has to say.

Tom Loeffler said this. Steve Max journalist tweeted it as he talked to him.
If those two tune-ups don't have an effect on his mandatory fight (I ask you: do they affect?), then no problem. The other problem remains still - he was offered bigger money than he made in the Martinez fight.

Reported by who? And if he wants to take a fight or two to get ready, whats the problem? He hasnt fought since April, so it makes sense to me.

Martin Murray been WBA Interim champion since 11/24/12 , How do you go a year without cashing in your money in the bank briefcase for a world title match???
There are as many 'duckers' as silly boxing fans say there are. Boxers were 'ducking' fighters in the past all the time too. Boxing is about money and it has always been that way because it is prizefighting.
Murray should be fighting Golovkin soon, not because he is not a 'ducker' but because the money is good unless other viable options open up before he puts pen to paper.
Boxing Fans use the word "duck" and "robbed" loosely. Boxers don't fight each other for many political/financial issues. If a guy can fight somebody else for more money it's not ducking, it's just a business decision. As fans we want the fights that we want and if those fights don't happen then we immediately say someone ducked someone. Same with robberies. If the fight is close and someone gets the win then the other fighter didn't get robbed he just didn't get the Decision.
Read all posts, and many refer to the money being the issue here. Reportedly, Murray was offered a bigger purse than he got in the Martinez fight.
While I tend to agree it's not Murray who ducked, I still believe Hutton is the one who didn't want him to face GG yet. I remember he referred to the Tszyu example in the past when it was necessary to wait until he grew old before fighting him.

GGG is the best middleweight in the world at the moment and you would want to give yourself the best possible chance and be as sharp as possible going into a fight with him.
Calling Murray a ducker or to imply cowardice is frankly ridiculous. He had no problem going to Germany to fight Sturm and even ballsier, went to Argentina in front of a rabid, hostile crowd(also important to realise that there was a lot of tension building between Britain and Argentina) to face the best MW of the time and a guy high up in the p4p list.
It's just a different time in boxing. Before boxers faced anyone because they probably weren't aware of the long-term life-threatening consequences of taking too much punishment to the head and that boxing is bigger than its ever been with the paydays. It's a health and business issue. Why take a dangerous fight for the same money that you can get for a guy that you view as a lesser threat?
- Ricky Burns don't want to fight Terence Crawford
- Kell Brook don't want to fight Devon Alexander
- Martin Murray don't want to fight GGG
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is the problem
I'm starting to become less of a fan of Hearn but this isn't exactly correct is it...
Crawford wanted the fight in USA, the champion is in Scotland, go to him...
Brook got injured against Alexander and got himself back into the picture with a mandatory shot again...
Murray is promoted by Hatton Promotions, not Matchroom
they're probably not interested in a serious beating at this point in murray's career. they can fight other guys for a bit less, but not a ton less. you live to fight another day win or lose against daniel geale, dazzling darren, etc. golovkin gives you a beating you can't take too many times in one career.
with golovkin it's not only about losing, it's about how you lose. golovkin might be the planet's hardest puncher. it's not like just getting outboxed. that's why martinez won't fight him.
Yes, it's all common sense. In the current situation those who lost to GG and got the spotlight have higher chances of meeting the other top guys than GG himself. One example is Rosado fighting Quillin. The other can be Macklin fighting Barker or even Stevens getting some other top.
It's a shame actually, but common sense. Golovkin is a victim of his own in the current scene. The only solution is see is offering twice the amount of money the challengers can get at the market just because Golovkin is too dangerous for long-term health. :(

fan ask for fights, and watch them at home on the couch.
fighters take punches to the head. you can die in there.
So you're saying that boxers make a career out of boxing but choose to duck dangerous fights because a concern of getting hurt and you're ok with that?
This is like baseball players saying they don't want to face certain pitchers because they throw to hard and don't want to risk getting hit by a pitch. Or football quarterbacks saying they don't want to play against a certain team because their linebackers hit too hard. Etc...
Plain and simple. If you're afraid of getting hit and hurt, then boxing is wrong profession for u.
you diddn't read any of my other posts. everything is covered there.

Because when you lose in boxing, you're a bum according to most of the sports lame fans.
exactly. we are very much to blame for fights not happening as much as the promoters.
Remember "these days" fans believe you should take a terrible financial contract to make a fight, or you're ducking. Most fans have NO sense of basic business, and think fighters should take bs contracts with absurd demands or of course they are ducking. Its not the fighters its the keyboard warriors. They ignore the fact that some fighters arent ready for who you as fan believe they should fight, and they should ignore boxing managers and promoters who live boxing, and take the advice of someone who just watches boxing every now and then and believe they know better. People like these are the ones th at would have your career like that of fernando vargas, and throw you into the lions den WAAAY to early because of arrogant fans who know nothing about the technicalities of boxing but pretend they are experts.
Good post, when I first discovered this site I was amused by the amount of "expert" boxing advice circulating around here.
Well the middleweights don't want to fight ggg because they don't want to get beat up and knocked out unless they get a lot of compensation for it, they're playing the waiting game, I expect after 2 or 3 years if ggg shows signs of deterioration and his name grows then these guys will be more keen to fight him.
I don't expect Martinez to ever fight ggg unfortunately. Maybe Martin Murray will after his next fight.
There are many reasons why duckers exist.
Promoters...
As seen with Bob Arum, a duck can be considered as 2 legit boxers not facing off, rather it be IE May Vs Manny, or etc, normally a boxer is blamed for the fall out of the fight, when his BOSS said no.
No official governing body of boxing, can you imagine if the NBA or NFL had no official governing body???? The Lakers would refuse to play the Miami Heat and the Miami Heat would attempt to play the easiest team to win a title.
With no official governing body over the entire sport, ducks easily get through the cracks.
Murray fights Sturm in Germany, Martinez in Argentina, signed to fight Chavez in El Paso, Texas yet he's a "ducker"?
Murray will fight Golovkin, it's just a matter of time (and money).
Exactly this... the reason there are so many duckers in boxing is because the fans want boxers to fight 100 fights a year and if you don't meet all of them.... you're a ducker. That's the simple truth of why.
