So your saying Donaire was so great at that weight after struggling with Vazquez Jr. and Matthebula?
If Vazquez Jr. and Mathebula are some of the best in and around that division? If so, its a piss poor division and Rigo needs to man up and move up. Clearly he's way too good for that division, and he's too boring for anyone to care to watch him put on clinics against lesser competition.
He's been saying the same things after all his fights few fights, expect Nishioka. He struggled with Mathebula, Vazquez, and Narvaez, and his excuse afterwards was "I didn't listen to my corner, I didn't jab, I wanted to land a big punch, etc. etc. etc..."
Like I said, Rigo may have been the nail in the coffin, but whatever distracted him outside the ring prior to the fight has been there a while... The flaws were there before the Rigo fight
Lol, I think your over emotional response caused u to forget what I was saying... I'm not arguing whether Rigo took his soul, what I'm arguing is whether Rigo taking his soul is such a great accomplishment... How does "Rigo is overrated" connect to the soul taking discussion?
All I'm saying is, Rigo is good, but is he as good as beating Donaire made him look? Donaire was clearly overrated, so how does Rigo get all this credit for beating him? (Becuz he was the underdog... :bottle::bottle:)
Like I said, Rigo needs to move up in weight and fight some other "special" fighter like Mikey Garcia before I can say he's this p4p future ATG every thinks he is
Rigondeaux has grown all he could, just because he only has 12 fights doesn't mean he is new to boxing, the guy has being fighter for over 25 years and in actuality he is an 118 pounder fighting at 122, so stop with the move up $h1t because he is a very small fighter one division north of his natural weight, garcia has plenty of challenges ahead he could fight Gamboa now, seems to me that he is as ready as he ever going to be and Yuriorquis is in decline...
:lol1: :lol1: @ the Mick quote!
I don't think it has anything to do with being civilized though. He took an L for the first time, it seemed to have an affect. Lost some of that magic he had. He could've also been having a little bit of a bad night -- that's a point not everyone takes into consideration.
He still has a career, but I think the road is going to get tougher for him. Because every future fighter will be studying all these flaws that have been exposed. And they will try to capitalize on them.
His career is definitely not over but I don't see him ever cracking the top ten P4P again. It's obvious that he just wasn't the same fighter in there with Rigondeaux and certainly not Darchinyan.
I wonder what happens when Donaire fights an actual featherweight. It will be interesting to see him against a guy like Walters, I don't think his one power will be as much of a factor at 126.
He needs to develop a more offensive style, not everyone fights like Arce...
I rather give Vic credit. He was fighting a disciplined fight and was starting to get more and more confident in himself, opening up more than he should've and just then Donaire stepped on the gas. Donaire lost a decision to Rigo, not like he was knocked out in his last fight. Perhaps some of his confidence diminished but it's not a valid excuse against a guy he already stopped. Enough people, give Vic some credit.
Like Mick said in Rocky, "the worst thing that can happen to a boxer is when he becomes civilized".
Nonito is now civilized and his career as a P4P fighter has expired.
He has nothing to be ashamed of though, he has provided a great life for his family and has a lot to show for his career.

Wow. Rigondeaux took his soul.
Nonsense. You can't take someone's soul by running. Darchinyan has the killer instinct. Rigo has the survival instinct. Darchinyan is a true warrior. Rigo is a survivor and a runner. That's the huge difference. It's clearly a mistake for Donaire to be an offensive fighter when he's a natural counter puncher. But he had to entertain the booing public. Rigo was busy surviving. Nothing will happen if they're both waiting for action.
Donaire is fine physically
but mentally- he looked shot,,,
And boxing is 90% mental and donaire just doesnt seem to have a mental edge anymore,,,
And donaire is headed towards nothing but tough killers in the ring like salido, lomanchenko, rigo rematch,,
I think donaire needs to fight chris john for the title in macau,,, that is the only big fight i see him winning and getting back mentally
that kid, and the rigo fight seems to have soften the edge to donaire,,
Looks like his head is not in it 100%. He's not the fighter he once was. He needs to take 1 fight per year for the next 2 or 3 years against over the hill fighters with names and then try to take one more shot at it.
I had Vic up 5-2 before the stoppage. Nonito isn't in it anymore.

You missed scoring a round. What happened to the 8th round if you scored 7?
i don't think so at all......rigo obviously f*cked him up not only physically but mentally.....the guy is questioning should he even continue boxing for goodness sakes.

Wow. Rigondeaux took his soul.
He definitely didn't look impressive until the end but at least he got the 'W'.
He will not beat GR without devine intervention, I will say that.
That said, Darchinyan is still a beast and if he was Donaire's size he would have knocked him out in my opinion.
It was more of Vic not allowing him to impress. He clearly studied Donaire and came in with a great strategy and most of all, to win. These are the fights he needs
No offense but you can't say Donaire was overrated from the start, he was favored to beat Rigo by most journalists and experts, and was picked to win on here by most people
Rigo put Donaire in time-out to ponder how good he really is
Its a common misconception that just becuz someone is an underdog, that means when they win they've done something great. Its just another inconsistency with boxing fans that makes us the worst sports fans in the world.
Lucas Matthysse is an overrated hypejob, but then when Garcia beats him (and barely I might add) he's the heir to the Mayweather thrown??? Where's the logic in that?
Same with Donaire... He won the fighter of the year award, was top 3 p4p, was expected to be Pacquiao's replacement... Rigo only had like 10 fights and wasn't really well known... Who's gonna be the underdog in that situation?
Darchinyan had only been stopped once before and that was by Donaire and he has fought fighters of the quality of Yamanaka, Moreno, Mares, Agbeko, Arce and Mijares. So yeah he really failed to impress......

first thing...........donaire didn't struggle with vasquez jr. (he out boxed him knocked him down & beat him easily..........don't be confused by the idiot split decision. go back and actually watch that fight) the fight was close after 7 rounds with mathebula but thats only because mathebula is a high volume puncher.......
"he's been saying the same thing after all of his fights"
now this my friend is a flat out lie............when has donaire ever said that he doesn't know if he want to box anymore? questioning his ability to take a punch? saying he was thinking about QUITTING In the ring? when? being a critic of your own performances (saying that he didin't listen to his corner enough) is not the same thing as questioning should you carry on in a fight......the guy was questioning if he should quit for goodness sakes. he got his soul taken against rigo........it's too obvious.
& lol @ rigo should move up to 130 and fight mickey garcia whooooooooohahahahahaha
i wouldn't doubt that rigo would make garcia his b*tch in less then 4 rounds but rigo is a small short little guy. if rigos division is weak mickeys division is absolute trash........(rigo will be fighting agbecko in his next fight. a better fighter then anything garcias has ever faced in his entire career) mickey in realty is a natural 140 pounder draining himself down to 130 :lol1: rigo is a natural 122 pounder.
fool said he wants rigo to move up and fight mickey garcia (a mickey who's a natural jr. welterweight & draining himself down)
:lol1:
Sh*t Rigo took this boys soul indeed, and after seeing this fight is obvious Rigo has some fking chin as well. Most importantly his defense and offense where castrated by Rigo really sad really.
rigo has great defense and timing. if you've watched the rest of his career you'd know that he doesn't havea great chin, and that he's been hurt and wobbled on several occasions.
