never seen a thread on this fight so I thought i'd add one. this could be a terrible fight to watch since neither lets there hands go with regularity. too bad the WBC world cup is delayed. with magomed out everything changes. winner of this fight could be in a good position. I got solis to win a boring decision... sorry guys I thought I made the poll end the day of the fight. i'm not sure if I can edit the poll...

I'm confused by everyone saying Johnson is the best fighter Solis has agreed to fight, other than Vit. Barrett and Austin both had better resumes and Johnson has completely folded against the top level. Solis should win every round. barrett & Austin are his best wins. Johnson would be a decent one too...

If Solis dedicates himself next year, he could be a good challenge for Wlad down the road. after fury outboxed kingpin i'm pretty sure solis will too but fury is much taller & kingpin has a good jab. he will also have a reach advantage over solis. if kingpin actually lets his hands go he would be much better.
...if solis trained hard he'd be scary, like most of the cubans. he doesn't, of course, and is borderline diabetic :lol1:
...i have never seen a guy sleep walk through a fight without getting hit like solis. he looks so relaxed & in between rounds he looks like he could take a nap. you see him turn it on when he wants too. i really think he likes going 10 or 12 rounds. he enjoys the pace & doesn't have to worry about shedding weight...
I have to say, although Solis is terribly overweight, his performance belies his appearance. Odlanier is obviously a gifted athlete. If I looked like him, I wouldn't last three rounds in sparring.
i like solis... i'd share a buffett table with him. he cracks me up. i know he can be frustrating to watch because of his skillset. i have never seen a guy sleep walk through a fight without getting hit like solis. he looks so relaxed & in between rounds he looks like he could take a nap. you see him turn it on when he wants too. i really think he likes going 10 or 12 rounds. he enjoys the pace & doesn't have to worry about shedding weight. he can make some money & he also gets much needed work in at the professional level. he lost 18 months from injury. he will fight 3 times this year. when was the last time he fought 3 times in a year 2009? if he beats Johnson he will be in good position in all governing bodies to make a run in 2014...
 so true
Solis should win because KJ is sliding but if Solis wins it would be the best win on his record and he might still be untested aside from the mishap with Klitschko.his best win is ray Austin at this point.

This is a good fight. Solis is lazy though and I doubt we will ever see his full potential.
Pretty much this. He still wins tho and will as long as his talent get him by for now but is a waste without giving the extra effort to try for the top.
not bad, i guess. solis is a talented guy, and johnson has been there and done that before.
i'd like to see wilder fight johnson first, and solis second. both could beat him if he's not who he is thought to be.

he has dropped some weight in each fight. when I was in cuba in September I met a guy in the gym there who claimed knew solis. he told me solis likes to take his time & break down his opponent. something he couldn't do in the amateurs because it's only 3 rounds. can I prove this guy knows him? no but he was training in the gym with many locals. he says solis likes to fight. sometimes it seems hard to believe because he looks like he could take a nap in between rounds. I never heard a Cuban say that about solis before. i'll watch this fight if possible but I have a hard time getting excited for it...
The problem with Solis seems to be that he hardly seemed motivated when he got the shot against Vitali. If he's not motivated for a title shot, when will he ever be? We can hope he's changed his attitude, with the help of the right people. Amazingly wasted talent.
