Alright, before the fight a lot of people were saying Golovkin's chin would be tested and Stevens that one punch knockout power that could change the fight. I haven't seen the HBO braodcast yet, but from what I saw and heard, stevens landed a couple of big punches, a few of those being big left hooks, his bread and butter.
Golovkin ate those up and kept fighting
So which was it? Is Steven's punch not as strong as a lot of people have been saying or is Golovin's chin better than we thought?
GGG didn't get hit enough for us to know how tough his chin is. I saw less than a dozen hard shots land on GGG. A good chin test needs to be a little more thorough than what Stevens was able to connect with.
From what we saw, there is no evidence that his chin is weak, but it wasn't like he was taking loads of hard shots.
I wouldn't say that his chin is underrated, everybody knows GGG spars heavy weights.
Stevens power is legit, it's just Golovkin has adamantium whiskers. There was two shots in particular a left and a right hook landed in the 4th and 5th round respectively, that were huge punches that pushed GGG back a bit, those shots would put down hard, every other middleweight in the top 10! (Not including Chavez Jr, who I don't see making 160 again)
Lol, so right. I think it would take a sledge hammer swung by a prime Arnold Swarchenegger to knock Chavez Jr. out.

Triple G chin is good. Steven's can punch but he was getting over-rated before the fight to sell it.
Steven caught Triple G a few times and had his attention
Technically, nobody knew just how good GGG's chin was but it couldn't be bad considering that he claims he's never been down or even hurt in an amateur or pro fight in his life.
Stevens can flat out punch, period, and he couldn't even get Tripple G to blink.
That says it all.
From what I saw, Stevens didn't really crank that hook flush on GGG... but he did land some flush straight rights...
His overhands were blocked or deflected by GGG's shoulder.
My impression was that GGG has a good chin.
I cant say for sure. But he seems to have buckled ggg just a bit in the 6th, i believe.
Oh god why.cant it be.both?
Stevens hits hard enough to make ggg cautious. And buckled ggg just a bit, cant remember which round. Hit him flush
Like lucas vs danny: lucas packs a bazooka, but garcias chin is world class.

Stevens hit GGG with some punches that pushed him back and he also landed some solid jabs and body punches. Stevens has a hell of a punch and it looks like GGG takes a really good shot. Stevens went 8 rounds which exceeded what many expected. I picked GGG by around the 6th with body punches. He, Kovalev, and Adonis Stevenson fights would be brutal. But GGG doesn't look to have issues making 160 so we may not see those fights and they would have to meet him at 168. Canelo, Martinez, and Quillin are it for now. I think with Martinez's injuries and age catching up, I'd have to go with GGG. The Martinez of 2 years ago is very hard to beat. Quillin it seems is the easiest of the bunch. But I think Canelo would be very difficult. Ward is like a Rubik's Cube, till I see someone close to solving him, I wont pick against him.
Yeah...bitta both I think, GGG is very good at not taking flush shots to start with, so I'm not sure he ever got hit with a full power left hook. Also there's the whole kinda speed is power thing, the Stevens KOs I've seen mainly have come from his handspeed;especially on the counter, guys just don't see them coming.
Against Findley, for instance he landed plenty of shots flush and barely rocked him; a lot of punch resistance is simply being aware that the punch is about to land.
Anyways, whatever the reasons, Stevens landed some nasty looking shots on GGGs chin which snapped his head back, and backed him up briefly on a few occasions but otherwise seemed to trouble Golovkin not at all.
Stevens has a good punch, not as hard as its hype out to be but he has legit power. He landed some bombs on Golovkin and they didnt affect him
Sweat was flying everywhere
I thought he took them well. I'm about to watch the HBO broadcast
all the stevenson fanboys/floyd fan boys/slick black fighter fanboys/al haymon fanboys/golovkin haters were teling us stevenson had the power to drop and stop golovkin...turns out golovkin showed a much better chin than they anticipated..
Stevensen would kill GGG.
Not Stevens lmfao
It is a little of both.
Stevens does have knockout power, but a fast snappy punching power. There is not a lot of heavyness behind it, but a punch to the chin can scramble you.
Golovkins is less snappy, but more heavy and with more follow through. His punches may not knock you out with one punch, but you feel them.
Golovkin does not even look like he loads up his shots. Just by looking at him you can tell they are relaxed punches. You can tell he has more in reserve.
A little of both, Stevens wasn't knocking out top 10 guys and on the other side GGG has never even tasted a full glove until Stevens knocked him.
The most stunned GGG got to was after I think a real nice left hook from Stevens' but he shook it off in half a second and continued to pressure. His legs didn't jelly leg either after eating a 2 punch combination flush.
But you know, people are willing to take that 1-2 second to recollect himself as "being stunned"
Stevens has a good punch, he isn't Earnie Shavers but he can punch...and u factor in the fact he hit Golovkin with a good amount of clean shots, and only ONE in I think Round 5 even appeared to stop Golovkin momentarily....
so Golovkin does appear to have at least a decent beard...so maybe a bit of both...
Hell, Rosado landed a couple times on Golovkin's chin and he walked through them...and Rosado did mark up GGG...when your aggressive and stalking opponents u better have a good beard...
