Really? You consider Cloud high quality? He absolutely sucks and Dawson was finished at the top level, Bellew isn't very good either. That is not high quality.
Three top 10 opponents (#1, #4 & #6?) No one knows if Dawson is finished yet even now. Still has to beat Bellew mind.
What wins were these exactly? His best win is an even fight with a washed up Glen. Cloud is hot garbage. Being a title holder is literally just a title and ignores the fact that he sucked, not to mention there is no distinct accomplishment in order to obtain a title anymore.
Thats irrelevant, 'could haves' do not add credit to a win. Most would agree that Floyd would dominate any version of JMM, that opinion doesn't mean he should be credited more for the version he beat.
How he did it reflects the low quality of opposition.
Bellew isn't solid, he really isn't any good. Yaegashi the one who fought Ioka?
Yes, that one.
If Edgar Sosa beats Akira Yaegashi, it should be Sosa. No one else has THREE high quality wins this year. He would. Still a big if, but knocking off the lineal Fly king would be a capper.
You actually stole my thought! I can't wait for this fight
Cloud is quality in the sense of a recent title holder. Entered on a two fight losing streak (Campillo decision stunk) but still a top ten Light Heavy with some good wins under his belt.

Dawson might be finished (I think Stevenson could do that to any version of him; Dawson always a little chinny and Stevenson got nukes).

As a body of work for the year, including the lineal crown at 75, good stuff. How he did it counts too. He ran over Cloud physically; hadn't been done before. Dawson one-punched was impressive.

I think Sosa's KO of Solis is superior. I think beating GGG is too. Bellew is a solid contender. He ain't better than Yaegashi.

GGG or Hopkins should not be a candidates for FOTY.Their opposition this year wasn`t all that.Floyd,Rigo,Stevenson and Danny Garcia should be candidates.

Dawson and Cloud are. Bellew is a solid. Adonis is the only other guy O see a case for.
Stevenson and Kovalev both have the strongest case (assuming both win by KO on the 30th) both in terms of activity and performance. (4 KOs each).
Dawson > Cleverly (Both champions, but Dawson coming off loss)
Campillo > Cloud (Both ex-champions)
White > Boone
Bellew > Sillakh (Similar quality but Bellew has better resume).

Stevenson might have Dawson, Cloud and Bellew with Boone some filler material. Although you maybe don't consider these three high quality.
I think it's because they're mostly all foreign, hardly any Americans, no Brits. Viloria gets some coverage.

LOL. Nobody ever talks about the little guys. No networks, no media outlets and threads only generate like 5-6 responses at most. Juan Fransciso Estrada had a very solid year too.

Fighter of the year is Swift, Superman or Professor Rigo imo
Who expected Floyd to lose more than 5 rounds combined against Ghost and Nelo this year?!?....not many and Floyd did what we expected this year.....who expected Triple G to lose to the opposition he's faced this year?!?....not many....he did what was expected of him
Swift, Stevenson and Rigo weren't supposed to be sitting on their respective thrones atm....many people expected them to fail....Bradley has a case but I feel the 3 mentioned has a much stronger case imho
Right now I still say Mayweather because of how one-sided he made the biggest fight of 2013. He was also phenomenal against Guerrero, so good that before the fight there was talk of Guerrero being p4p top ten, and now you never hear his name mentioned!
Bradley's obviously had a great year, but I think he'd be content with settling for Fight of the Year, for his scrap against Provodnikov (who also had an excellent 2013).
Golovkin is still missing that marquees opponent to cement a Fighter of the Year candidacy, in my opinion. In my eyes if Stevenson knocks out Bellew, he's more deserving because Stevenson KO'd the lineal champ in Dawson then took out two other top contenders.
Rigondeaux beating Donaire I rank as the second most impressive victory of 2013 (behind Mayweather's ass whooping of Canelo), but fighting Joseph Agbeko is a bit of a come-down. Not his fault obviously, all about those promoter disputes.
So here's how I rank it:
1) Mayweather
2) Bradley
3) Golovkin
4) Stevenson (will jump to #2 on my list if he KOs Bellew)
5) Rigondeaux
6) Danny Swift
7) Provodnikov
I would say stevenson,,, he has done the most this year,, he went from 168 avoided contender to HBO darling, lineal 175 champ in the last few months,, pretty amazing rise to the top,,,,,
Rigo also has a shot if he destroys agebako
GGG has had a good year, but really doesnt have any top level wins,, beating ishida, macklin, rosado, and stevens is a great year but none of those guys are champs or were considered big threats unlike stevenson vs dawson or rigo vs donaire
Kovalev is the guy to beat at 175. Stevenson fought a washed-up Dawson, and won against a limited Cloud.
I'd go with Rigo or GGG way before Stevenson.
