let's hope not, sick of PPV
don't want anymore fighters "going Hollywood"
doubt it would happen anyway, GGG is about fighting, not persona
he has the style to excite everyone but not the x factor
and for all his power, he's not that good, that Ouma fight still haunts
HBO seems to be giving hima mega push but that doesn't mean he will connect with casual fans or make them want to buy his fights for so much money. To my knowledge he hasn't headlined a major card in a full US arena (15 k seats plus) like any of the major ppv stars. He's also 31 and presumably doesn't have much of a career left.
That said, if he beat Sergio and JCC in 2014 and the ward in early 2015 he could become a consistent 350-500k ppv seller.
Kinda this ^. It would really take a fight with a recognised PPV star to get him the popularity in the first place. If he could get this and impress it might help, but given that their just ain't much PPV talent at 160 (in terms of popularity only JCC jr and Maravilla) it's hard to see where he would go from there.
At 168 Froch would be a PPV for sure in the UK and possibly in the US, Chavez Jr at 168 (where most likely he'll stay) would work and Ward perhaps.
The thing is the PPV fights are generally in the 135-154 weight ranges at the moment, and right now I don't see any of the TR/HBO 154 PPV talent (by which I mainly mean Cotto) wanting to fight GGG.
Golovkin may (if he continues to impress) land 1 or 2 PPVs in his career if he's prepared to move around a bit ie 154 and 168, but most likely that'd be it I guess. If the cold war ends, there might be a couple more to be had at 154, but in the end I doubt he'll ever gain the massive popularity of a FMJ, DLH, PAC or even Cotto.
Definitely. He's a skilled, hard punching middleweight who has shown glimpses of charisma that would probably only increase with more exposure. How could he not be a PPV star if he's the truth and given a chance?
He has had a fan-friendly style so far, but does he have crossover appeal?

He might need to fight one of the other champions to do that. Look at young B-Hop, he was a star but wasn't a ppv star til he fought Keith Holmes and Trinidad.
He probably can, I dont see why not the problem is their is no real ppv fighter anywhere near him that can give him that push and inital exposure.
There are plenty near him (see below) since the guy is willing to fight from 154-168 but whether they'd be willing to take the bout is another matter. We know Froch would, but of course Froch is not a PPV draw in the US.
Canelo, Cotto, Mayweather, Froch, Chavez Jr...
It will be hard for him because he wants a 70-30 split every time they offer a fight to a fighter in the top ten. No one will fight him with that and he won't become a superstar fighting guys outside the top 15 like he has.
This isn't accurate afaik. Didn't Golovkin get paid the same as Macklin?

It seems like it'll be tough for him to rise to that level but it's not his fault. He is doing good job well. I just think the whole eastern European aspect of him may be a bit of a roadblock unfortunately. When was the last time a further from that part of the world was a ppv star?
Only needs a few big wins. Not over opponents like Stevens though. I would take a couple top fighters.
I thought I had bugs on my screen becuase of sig
I doubt it. He needs a number of factors to get it right, firstly he needs a better promoter someone that has the boxing media in his pocket like Arum. Then he needs to basically be the only star in his own country, where everyone looks up to him like Pacquiao then he need his fights to be showcase at every turn by the TV executive like HBO. He has the fighting style needed but other factors are not there at the moment.
I disagree. Pacquiao's phillipino support doesn't drive HBO ppv buys.
I think he has to be able to fight welterweights at a catchweight, through to light heavys. And all the big names in between. Especially if he can catch floyd or manny.

Of course, no doubt about it. However, in order for him to get to that level he needs to beat top opposition... problem is, I don't see top opposition giving him a chance anytime soon. Also he needs a company like GB or TR to give him that solid promotional push as well. It feels as if Golovkins work has done the promotional work for him.
To be a PPV star now would require GGG to stay at his minimal weight limit...GGG could make 154lbs, 150lbs maybe, 147lbs no way...A couple stars at 160lbs but lower is where its at
Going above 160lbs gives him Chavez, Ward and possibly Froch for a PPV show
The higher weights must develop some more talent that that people can cheer behind
