How can any one say with a straight face that boxing makes them happier than money?
Really, if you are a 100% true boxing fan, the Chavez Jr vs Vera fight should have made you depressed. And decisions like that stack up after years and years of the same crap. Boxing is such a depressing sport, it thrived in the great depression era. Mismatch after mismatch, terrible officiating, corrupted/incompetent judging, paper titles, a billion titles per weight class, there's a billion weight classes to begin with. Really, boxing makes you happy?
Boxing makes me very happy, and despite mismatches and poor decisions, there is almost nothing I love more than watching and talking about the sport. I have enough money to buy the things I want, so giving up the sport I love for something I don't value much would be a 'retarded' idea, in the words of MathBoy.

It don't really matter if I need the money or not.. anyone turning down 700,000 even if you are a Millionaire is pretty retarded.
Why?
You say that money doesn't make you happy because it was never an issue. What if money doesn't make someone happy because it isn't an issue for them, but boxing does make them happy? Why would they be retarded for giving up something they love for something that won't make them happy?
well what about me? I'm a college student too but my Mom mails me money every month for rent. I have a nice car and nice clothes.. The extra money won't make me happier long term. It will make me happier for a few weeks but nothing long term because money isn't an issue.
I think it really depends on the person. If money is an ISSUE of course money makes you happier.. but if money was never an issue growing up .. I think its different.
My Professor actually did a study on this: He and his colleagues interviewed numerous people in different stages of their lives and it's all different depending on where they are at... what they are doing.. etc.. You can't speak for everyone and neither can that poster 'New England'.
Money doesn't make me happy because it was never an issue... NOW IF YOU TAKE AWAY all my financial support.... will it become an issue? Of course.
That being said.. of course I'll stop watching boxing for 700,000.

Two college students can be in the same college, both with completely different financial statuses. For example, I pay $0 for college, but that is because i'm dirt poor. And that is who i'm speaking for, me, my friends, family members, who $700k would make them happy. People who are well off/are good enough financially won't understand. I speak for myself and people in my neighborhood, and, people in similar neighborhoods to mine all around the USA.

Must've been lol. There's no way anyone does it for $700. People frequently use a period instead of a comma.

You cannot use homeless people because it is a stupid comparison. Homeless people lack food, shelter and security, things that anyone would value over watching boxing, if 700k could provide those necessities it would naturally be more valuable to them than watching boxing.
When someone has food, shelter and security, the 700k would not necessarily bring them things that they'd value over boxing. When I think about the changes 700k would make to my life I think ''I could go on a nicer holiday every year'', ''I could speed up the development of my portfolio'', ''Could buy a house outright and work with less stress''- those aren't things I value over boxing, same applies to others.
Again, $700k wouldn't turn a homeless person's life around? NE said money can't make you happy. Yes it could, I brought up an example of what type of people it can make happy, homless people, poverty-stricken people, people who live check by check.
Give me $700k for example, a college student, i'd buy myself an apartment in Manhattan, for about $100-200k so that I don't worry about rent, just water bill, light bill, etc. I'll be good, i'll be SO f*cking happy, nearly stress fear financially, and that'll be more than enough money to take care of needs and wants until I get a nice job out of college.
Would money not make them happier though?
So I can not use homeless people, they don't count I guess, they're less human then we are, so the hell with them. Let's say then people who live in the ghetto, people who live in poverty? You know those who have a home, but barely make it through the week? Maybe they have one meal a day, living check by check. These people, would $700k make someone like that happy?
If you don't mind me asking, what is your salary? And even further, what were your guardians salary? You do not have to answer this here, you can just PM me the answer.

When i dream about becoming Millionare, apart of buying a fu---king lamborghini, i want the money to go to fights, to bet on the casinos in favor of a certain fighter. So, no boxing in my life, no need to big bucks
you can take this or leave this, but i don't need "science" to tell me whether or not money can make somebody happy.
obviously there's a level of comfort that comes with having money. that doesn't dictate perpetual happiness. it's not really appropriate to use homeless people as an example. you're basically asking whether not starving, freezing to death, etc, would make somebody happy.

Yes it can, it has actually been scientifically proven that money can buy happiness. You may be well-off or get paid just enough to be financially happy, but I am pretty sure those homeless people asking for food/money in the train have completely different opinions than you on whether or not money would make them happy.
But the same sport you're turning down $700k for, money comes before YOU (the fans). Money comes before everything in boxing.

Studies also show that money increases happiness only to a certain point, which I believe is around 60k a year.
Obviously if someone is barely able to get by this offer may be more alluring, as being able to eat, drink, have shelter, etc. are more important than being able to watch boxing.
nope. money cannot make you happy.
some of you poor guys will think i'm crazy for saying that, and i'm not saying i have 750K in a bank somewhere, but it's the truth.

Sadistic offers on the electronic ether. . . financial security Vs life's love lost . . . streets plagued with outbursts of aggression . . . a threat of public madness.
I'd snatch your spiteful proposal for a hold-all stuffed with bills. I'd do it for my family. Then live a life of bitter resentment. A thinly veiled urge for destruction buried deep into the black pit of the psyche. . . till it wormed it's way out.
Out on the street, hats slapped from the heads of strangers, the fixed blind stare of a hideous ogre, legs spaced like John Wayne, itching to pull the trigger on a violent spectacle. Flashes of incandescent rage on rain strewn paving. Pure pandemonium. Woman and child scream as their father/husband takes a beat down for no god-damn reason. Not that any sane person can see anyhow.
Flashing blue lights flashed on a gnarled expression. The soundtrack of sirens. Slamming of doors and stomping of boots. Gritted teeth frothing at insurmountable odds. The crashing of rosewood on cranium. "Thwack, thwack, thwack" Eyes blinking rhythmically up at a darkening sky as the light of consciousness grows dim.
Nights in a cell.
Yes Sir. A wad of cash and a home for my family. Financial security with a down payment of mental instability. Passion sold for a price. Rage untethered from its discipline. Happiness on hold. Trinkets abound.
Welcome to the lunatic asylum of capitalist reason. "F*ck you. Pay me."

I re-read the thread topic... Would you stop to watch boxing for eternity for $700,000
I read it wrong. Obviously from the way OP worded it, he is wondering if we would stop whatever it is we are doing and watch boxing for eternity and get paid $700,000.
Yes, I would stop to watch boxing for eternity for $700,000. Sorry, I misunderstood. No wonder so many people voted yes.
Now it begs the question, why wouldn't you stop (making a sandwich, working, reading a book) TO watch boxing for eternity.
All you have to do is watch boxing all day every day. I would assume all other expenses are paid for, food and what not.
But what fights would it be?? Ahhh silver lining. Klitschko bros fights, B-Hop fights??
Could you pick your own fights to watch?? Need more info on which fights we would be stopping to watch.
Thanks for clearing that up somewhat, -Righteous-...green K sent.
Now I'm wondering if that's what he meant... But I think he meant if we would stop watching boxing for $700k.

all the people saying no, i'd really like to see them turn down that $700K once they see all that cash in person
It's ridiculous.
You would think they are all billionaires.

You need help
i enjoy watching boxing more than i would have money sitting in my account, I've got a mortgage and comfortable home living so it'd need to be loads more than what'd be 375k over here which would only really buy my house outright.
