They were paid fights with no headgear over 5 rounds with three judges.

If you get paid, don't wore headgear and is over 3 rounds, you are a professional fighter, and the main reason is "you are getting pay"
Lomachenko got paid like $100K for winning his gold medal in 2008, did that make him a "pro"?
