I like Danny and respect what he's been able to do in the ring, but I'm still not sold on him. Truthfully I don't know how he keeps winning. He has a leaky defense. No footwork despite his nickname of "swift". So-so speed. And he stands right there in front of you to be hit. He's a counter puncher who has had success by swinging with his opponent. He's willing to take one in order to give one and so far he's been able to give it better than his opponents. What I will give him credit for is a strong chin, heart, and the fact that he stays focused throughout the fight. He's not easily discouraged.
He almost reminds me of Tito Trinidad where if you're able to avoid his hook and box him, then you can easily beat him. A boxer like Floyd would have a field day with him. His win over Lucas was a great win as Danny proved almost everyone wrong including myself.
If anyone thinks that looking like crap against Herrera means anything fighting against big named conventional fighters, prepared to be flabbergasted when Danny looks pretty good against an orthodox fighter who has a big named whom you felt would beat him easily because of the Herrera fight.
No one would have ranked Herrera higher than Mattysse, or Khan. Styles make fights and Herrera is the type of fighter to make anyone look bad. Listen to Emmanuel Stewart commentating on Shane/Winky. There are some fighters you keep stars away from. Herrera is one of those.
it's amazing how the people in this forum aren't sold on garcia but are extremely sold on golovkin?
this is the issue with modern day boxing fans.......praise those who have done nothing and down those who have done plenty...............(& they do this without even realizing it)
boy boy boy............the modern boxing fan of today.

LOL. Stop talking about GGG he has you shook so bad

When Golovkin gets outclassed by a Herrera type opponent then he will suffer the same criticism.
You're crazy!!!!!!!!!
Garcia is the real deal. He has proven this.
He has shown ability to adapt in the ring.
He has boxing ability and real power in the left hook.
He also has a serious top 10 beard.
You don't become the lineal 140 lb champ and not be legit.

You're sold and a lil bitter. Not many people easily beat Tito. Naturally bigger men basically were the only guys who could beat Tito minus the Dlh debacle.

Everything you are saying has some truth, but it is like you are evaluating him from an atg standard. He's currently one of the best fighters on the planet, and aside from Floyd nobody easily beats him. Has a very high ring iq also.
for some reason certain posters here are making it seem as if I'm saying he's trash. He proved me and many others wrong with Lucas. That was a good win. Cant give him much cred for beating up on a shot Morales though. The Khan win was a decent win. I'm just not totally sold on him just yet. What I see happening to him is what happened to Trinidad. The minute he faces a crafty technical fighter he will look ordinary. If he can prove me wrong there then I'm sold.
Taste is subjective and we all look for different things in fighters. Not everyone realises that and they take it personally, hence the accusations of trash talk.
Hes the best at 140 and beat the man who wasgoing to kill him in the ring. Lucas was more hyped than GGG on NSB so how can he not receive the respect he is due
Watching Danny fight is like watching a women dunk a basketball. Its impressive because your expectations are so low going in. You're left with a "Well how do you like that?" kind of feeling. Few fighters have managed to overachieve to the degree Danny has. Rarely has a fighter done so much with so little.

I sure Garcia would love to be anywhere close to having a career that Tito had..
Danny garcia is a bit like carl froch. But they both have really mediocre styles from the outside. But they both have good power, iron chins, and good crafty boxing skill.
They will both be underrated through out their careers because they simply dont look good but they will still win.

this guy says that Danny has no footwork but displayed good footwork in the Lucas fight. he also says Tito isn't a good boxer if you just avoid his left hook.
Tito: One of the best ever to grace the welterweight division
Of course Rios doesn't fight like Lucas because Lucas is a better fighter. Rios just lost to Alvarado who compared to the fighters Garcia has beat is nowhere near as good.
If you feel lucas is better than Rios that is fine but thats just an opinion and I dont think that at all. Lucas got out boxed twice before facing Danny.
Rios is a hard fighter to deal with and I wouldnt say that Lucas is better than him. Lucas was popular for his KO power. Lucas would have a hard time against a pressure fighter of rios caliber.

Another liar. Where did I say tito wasn't a good boxer?
What I said was crafty technical boxers are what gave Tito problems. Is that not true? Bhop, Winky, etc... Even Oscar schooled and out boxed Tito.
