If Lomachenko wins he would go straight to being a top contender. If he loses, his career will suffer greatly before it's even started. Salido is a tough out for anyone let alone someone in their second fight. Unless Arum know something we don't, this move has a lot more risk than reward. However, the idea of him fighting Rigondeaux sooner is very intriguing.
He might be able to win that fight, Salido is still pretty good still very tough and rugged but he is getting pretty long in the tooth so he can get out boxed.
Lomachenko fight a lot like an amateur still so even with all his physical advantages and even technical advantages that could cost him against a seasoned pro.
Another interesting question is it better for him long term to win or to lose to Salido, he would probably learn more and have to develop more as a fighter if he lost, if he wins will he keep honing his craft in the ways he needs to truly make the most of his talent.
Lomachenko is great prospect, GREAT!
But the key word is "prospect". He should get a few fights before moving up too much.
Quoted for truth right there.
This is a big gamble for Team Loma. I think it's too soon but I will definitely watch the fight. And to fight Rigo immediately afterwards? Way too early.
I really don't get why Loma is rushing to fight the big dogs. His barely 25 has a great amateur experience and he seems to have the goods to compete in pro boxing. He should get at least two solid years of boxing in the pro rankings before chasing glory. He gains even more experience and by the sound of it he gets paid well even if he fights contenders. As for the Salido fight I think they are biting more then they can chew. Salido is no joke
Lomachenko and his team want it, they think their ready. That's all that matters, I think he can win if he doesn't gas out. He's an excellent counter puncher.

Salido has accomplished quite a bit in facing opposition such as:
Juan M. Marquez
Robert Guerrero
Rogers Mtagwa
Mikey Garcia
JuanMa Lopez x2
Yuriorkis Gamboa
Cristobal Cruz x2
Loma better be the goods.
Trial by Fire !!!!!!!!! fk it! but my official answer is no Salido can be a pain in the ass to anyone.
Extremely dangerous fighter. Salido gave both JMM and Guerrero hell imo, albeit in losing efforts.

vasyl looked great in his pro debut, clearly very talented.. can do everything well for the most part. but in his 2nd fight, might be rushing it.... i mean that ramirez guy was able to touch him up a bit... salido is a heavy hitter at FW and it could be a different story!
I don't like it. Lomo is terrific, but Salido is a heavy task so early in his career. I have to lean towards the veteran warrior. If Vasyl manages to prove me wrong, we have a star on our hands.
