I will be honest and say I have still yet to Watch the entire fight.
So did watching the Wladimir Klitschko vs Alexander Povetkin fight change your opinion of Wladimirs skillset his status among the best Heavyweights of all time
I must say that I have not changed my mind I have always looked upon him as a vary large fighter with very little boxing ability and the rounds that I was able to sit through of this fight did nothing to change my mind his defense is still Vacate arms extended to keep distance or clinch he did add one tool to his arsenal of tactics not that he never leaned on a guys neck before but the extent that he took it to was ridicules. To jump on the guys neck over and over he would actually leave his feet and come down with 245lbs on guys neck over and over
so my opinion is still he punches hard and uses a good jab he does not know how to parry slip or dodge a punch he is incapable of countering a punch because he is not there to do so. I can not think of any Era in which he dominates arguably not even his own anyone who says this guy is a skilled boxer is fooling them selves because it has become more and more painfully obvious with every passing fight that he posses no boxing skill outside of his good jab
i thought he was a cheating fraud with no skills but now i know he's a cheating fraud with no skills. look at his selection of opponents since brewster mollywhopped him. No one who came forward and we know why. He can't handle them without a corrupt ref. They all fought vitali and wlad fought all the better boxers. the klitschko's are a couple of cherry picking floyds.
Do you ever say anything positive about any fighter?
well,,,I think youre underrating him some. he has showcased a good skillset at times when hes not tense in there but I echo your frustration on all the clinching. with all his physical advanatges its ridiculous that he needs to resort to that. hell,,,if it was me Id rather get knocked out punching than win ugly like that. its just not fair to the fans who pay money to watch while hes earning millions. if he doesn't turn it around in his next fight I may very well turn into one of his haters
physical advantages don't matter when you can't box. boxing isn't just offense. its also defense and he has none(besides holding) he's just way too easy to hit and has a terrible chin. this was the only way he could ever be successful. watch all his fights. he never goes for anything till his fat out of shape opponents are sitting ducks then he starts throwing power shots. david haye has a sh-it chin and klitschko didn't have the skill or mindset to try and hit him because haye was always dangerous with the counters. guys like arreola and chisora would be a nightmare for wlad because they don't look for counters they look to press and so vitali fought them instead. wlad thought povetkin would stand in the center of the ring like most of his opponents so he took the fight but povetkin tried to pressure and wlad had to hold. these 2 clowns are running a racket here pretending to be 1 champ. 2 guys needed for 1 job lol. overstaffed.
he used to be exciting when he was coming up but then he stepped up his level of comp and kept eating canvas. steward came in and told him to hold anytime someone was about to throw. he figured out the key to boxing. if other guy doens't throw punches you have a good chance at winning especially if you are 6 foot 6. no clue why he's on p4p lists. he only wins cause he's tall and the other guys can't reach him before he holds. opposite of a p4p fighter.

basically he was seen as the more exciting brother of the two in the early days until his chin got exposed
and now he is the boring brother of the two
Haye fight had a Kd too, Haye got dropped
lmao
jesus man u wlad stans are sickening
haye got dropped by wlad?
or haye got counted for dropping to his knees as an attempt to stop wlads leaning?
which is it stan?
the sad part is he actually does have skills and can punch on the inside when he wants to,,,but instead he chooses to hold. he used to punch alot on the inside in his early fights such as against ray mercer but ever since the brewster kayo loss he choses to hold instead of letting his hands go. so damn frustrating

Do yourself a favor-dont watch. This fight was a bad as the Haye fight-except there were some KD's. It reinforced every negative opinion of wlad and the competition in the HWT division.
If you love wlad. I mean LOVE wlad, you will find this fight hard to watch all the way through because its so boring.
Putrid, digusting, terrible, ****ty-and thats just the ref's performance. The fight is ten times worse.

I'll give wlad another chance but I was hugely disappointed as a fan to say the least. hopefully all this criticism will motivate him to fight like a man in his next bout much like vitali grew a set after his quitting in the byrd fight
Kinda... It'd be life if Floyd fought Brandon Rios, and held 90% of the fight... He doesn't have to, he's clearly the far more talented fighter, so why did?
GSP vs Nick Diaz... Just massacring a fight he could win with ease just to protect his pretty face
i never really saw such a disgrace since the first round...
since the FIRST ROUND this man was REACHING OUT to hug and hold after a jab or after a straight... IT WAS DISGUSTING
i tried watching the fight, i watched two rounds and then i watched the wrestling-mma match that was round 7... could hardly get past that, much less any longer
im not even being sarcastic or exaggerated... what a disgrace to show this as boxing
i wonder how his trainers could feel proud on national tv to be in that corner
Huck is better than he's given credit for and Povetkin is ranked #2 in the division and has been for quite some time.
Wlad is champ
Vitali was #1 and
Povetkin was #2
It's been that way for several years.
According to what?
No, I already knew Wlad was the reason nobody likes HW boxing anymore. But Wlad's boring style has been a blessing for Floyd and fighters in the lighter weight divisions.
Brick wall hit the nail right on the head; Wladmir Klitschko has a glass jaw, so he held and leaned on Alexander Povotkin to avoid getting hit and to wear him down! Most fighters who face the Klitschkos are awed by their enormous height and ripped physiques, so they stay away from them. If they connect with some of their sledgehammer jabs, their opponents become almost afraid to engage them. However, Povotkin displayed signs of a lack of fear for Wladmir Klistschko that Corrie Saunders displayed. He was willing to try to move inside so that he could nail that glass jaw. Wlad saw this, panicked, and resorted to similar tactics that Emannuel Stewart taught Lennox Lewis, another skilled heavyweight with a glass jaw. He grabbed, held and leaned on his opponent, but far more blatently frequently than I can remember EVER seeing another fighter do it! The ref sucked! Luis Pabon's only attempt to ref the fight properly came when he took a point from Klitschko for another repeated foul he committed, which was pushing Povotkin down after landing a good shot. After seeing that fight, I have a better understanding of why the heavyweight division is so weak today. There are two giants currently holding the belts, whom few are willing to face. They both use similar tactics to win, which is not very exciting. Whomever does have the guts to face either of them not only has to get past their enormous size, but also their cheap tactics of grabbing, holding and leaning to wear out their opponents. Vitali isn't as bad as Wladmir is, but you get the point. The best thing that can happen to the heavyweight division is the retirement of these men. I would like to see Deonte Wilder Knock both of them out first though! He's their height, and vicious! Let's hope he proves to be as skilled as he now appears. He should get a title shot inside one year.
Well I can pluck up any random rankings, and they'd be just as legitimate. You have to remember, Povetkin's high ranking stems mainly from the fact the WBA gifted him a paper "title" (yea, it's hard to even call it a title). But it's hard to argue that Povetkin was outside of the top 5, definitely.
Random rankings or not, I use Ring as my deciding ranker. I always have and always will until somebody else better comes along.
there is no defense for what wlad did against povetkin who was totally outclassed in thi fight. he didn't need to do this to win.
When did I somehow condone the way he fought?
He won how he felt like he had to and it was ugly. Simple as that.
I totally hated the way he fought and if I knew he would do that every time I wouldn't watch his fights anymore. The matter of the situation is that he stinks it out every now and then. All great champions do that from time to time. He certainly didn't do that against Wach or Thompson.
