I thought it was more an interesting night, then an action filled night..
I'll start with the star of the night..Cotto looked very good and like he still has something left in that tank..Kirkland Angulo Lara Alvarez(very good match up)all are very good and exciting fights..Not to mention WW,if Cotto get's himself down there..There is match up for days:popcorn:..
Cotto still has a future in boxing and it's looking like a pot of gold..
Crawford,I seen a big flaw tonight,he does not have killer instinct..He could have become more aggressive and really attempted to put his guy away..I thought I still seen crazy talent, but I was not wowed(when in all honesty I should have been)..When he meets more quality fighters I hope he's more ready then I seen tonight..Major disappointment..
The Heavyweight div is dead,R.I.P.
Bradley Marquez,is going to be a great fight..
Oh sorry,The Faceoff was amazing..I'm fuccking pumped for that fight..
Sergio is a small middleweight, and cotto is a small Jr mw....
In no way shape or form should it be cotto who has to move up. He's the name, the one who brings the money to the table. Its not like Martinez is a big MW, he has to work pretty hard to make 160 fight shape wise. Hell he only walks out to the ring around 167, a few pounds heavier than cotto. Its not unreasonable to ask Sergio to come down if he wants the fight, but is unreasonable to ask cotto to go up, when he is already a small 154 lber. IMO.
Cotto has said he wants to add a 4th divisional title though, so it'd have to be over 154 and realistically as close to 160 as possible. If he does wanna go for the MW crown, now might be the time to do it with questionmarks over what Maravilla has left and Sergio being small for MW anyway.
Also having a belt (as well as the lineal title) on the line makes for a more lucrative fight, so I'm guessing he'll be willing to concede the extra Lbs.

Shouldn't be full, but if the fight happens they'll want it at a catchweight closer to 154, then pull a Floyd and bring up his boxingscene articles about making weight
More than capable of happening and Sergio said he wanted a name... only big things to worry about is money/location and weight. Sergios been saying he'll go down to 154, don't know how Cotto would feel going full 160....

Agreed ^. Maravillas with Lou DiBella BTW, same as Matt Macklin.
Sergios manager /spokesman Lewcowicz said they want Cotto then GGG

Quite how it's made and the weight would have to be in a way that keeps the path to the lineal open for GGG IMO, in order to keep HBO happy. Possibly a 2 fight deal, winner facing Golovkin. A rematch clause for Cotto - Maravilla makes sense too, depending how many fights they feel Maravilla has left in him. Obviously his priority now is to maximise income, but he's still a proud guy and might have a bit of an eye on his legacy.
Ugh... don't know why Dana white kept popping up in my mind.
Would be awesome though because they've said they want to fight him and with the MW being depleted and him coming back... next year seems like the best year
I think they're going to try and make this fight because it's another potential PPV fight to be made between Arum and Sergio's promoter (forgot his name).
They'll also shoot for MW catchweight to help sell it for Cottos legacy as a 4 division champion. Also, if Sergio wins, I don't doubt them having a rematch clause in place for the case of Sergio.
Besides... Sergio will be retiring soon... he's looking for the money fights. It'll hurt him if he loses, but he'll still be able to get the money fights with a rematch or with Golovkin

It's a tricky one. Obviously for it to be the most lucrative Maravilla s titles would have to be on the line, and Cotto has said he'd like to add a 4th divisional title. Since Sergio's really a JMW himself and has shown signs of fading this could be Cottos chance, and a big money fight for both.
Also for my money a very exciting fight. Cotto trying to close and Maravila using his speed and mobility to keep the distance and lauch lightening sallies (if he's still got it in him).
Martinez' team have essentially said they want to do Cotto (though weight unspecified) then Golovkin. From their POV 154 might make more sense as they don't want to risk the lineal, but then is that as worthwhile for Cotto or as lucrative?
At 160 however there's the risk of Cotto beating a battle-worn Maravilla to take the lineal, firstly reducing Martinez' value to HBO as a GGG opponent and also running the risk of Cotto dropping back down and taking the 12 year BHop lineage with him. This is a scenario HBO don't want if they are pinning hopes on Gena as their MW star. A possible solution is to broadcast the fight as part of a 2 fight deal with the winner vs GGG.

Cotto looked great, hope he fights Sergio next. Crawford fight was boring as hell. Wladimir vs Povetkin was garbage. Can't wait for next week and Alvarado Ruslan is gonna be brutal.

It's not dead, we're just not the dominant force nor the Brits at this time. Why do you think the lower weights don't get as much love? Low American/British presence. Watch how when Wlad & Vitali truly retire, someone from our side will have like 2-3 good victories and we're going to start comparing him to old greats.
Nah man,Wlad is one of the most boring fighters in recent history tbh..Maybe it's not his fault and it's lack of competition..Something is off when watching the K bros..
I think Cotto has a title shot next year whether it be MW or JMW.
Vanes/Andrade winner or Sergio... all lucrative fights.... well Sergio more so, but Vanes/Andrade winner can be luctrative
For some reason,I really would not mind seeing Cotto vs Vanes..I think it'd be a fun fight to watch..
He is going to want to get the biggest purses he can before he retires. Of those names you mentioned which one do you think will get him the largest payday?
He has said that he's not going back down to that weight again.
"I'm not interested in 147 at all or coming down . I feel great at 154, I'm working great at 154, I'm doing what I'm suppossed to do at 154. The problems at 147, as everybody knows, it was very difficult for me . I don't want that to happen to me again, so 154 is where I'll stay."

Alvarez is would be the most lucrative fight at the weight(outside of Floyd),I really think this should be next for Cotto and Alvarez..Fight makes crazy sense, although we have that TR GBP thing to get over..
I do also like a Cotto Vanes fight, that might be fun..Don't know how lucrative it would be tho..
