Timothy Bradley's latest appearance on 24/7 is making for some compelling television. His last two fights have given him and his team some rough edges, and the resultant psychological duress make him a fascinating character study.
It got me thinking: What are the greatest performances in 24/7 history?
A few notes are in line. First, I don't mean from a boxing standpoint, necessarily. Setting your favorite fighters or fights aside, evaluate the fighters as though they were strictly characters on a television show. Think of their respective backstories as part of the script -- an actor needs a good script to succeed, but a bad actor can mangle even the most-well written part. Second, this is not a lifetime achievement question. While considering previous appearances for the purpose of a character contrast is appropriate, I would like to basically consider each installment of 24/7 as separately as possible. Lastly, I would like to keep consideration restricted to fighters for the time being. We all know that the non-fighters bring the goods time in and time out. There is no question that Floyd Sr., Roger, Ruben Guerrero, etc. are the champions of the show.
I would have done a poll, but considering how many options there are, I would be afraid of arbitrarily shortening the list and finding that the preponderance of responses fell into the "other" category. So, it seems to me that an open-ended discussion is the best way to go about it.
I agree with TS on the Marquez and Margarito performances. I would have Mayweather against Oscar in there along with Hatton and Mayweather against Ortiz rounding out the top 5.
I like how Bradley has started to say "****" a lot. Very calculated move to no longer appear as the nice guy.
Exactly. Depending on what happens in the second episode, Bradley has the opportunity to put himself in the conversation for most unexpected character turn. He could win an Emmy if he goes full on into bad guy territory.
Floyd-Hatton was the best imo.
Cotto-Margarito II is highly under-rated as well. The face-off with Max Kellerman was epic too when Cotto had someone bring out a Ipad to talk about the "Gauze" incident.

By 2016 he'll be saying "I take the bad with the bad and the good with the good. It comes with the territory." in response to every question that's asked of him.
1. floyd calling his dad a ***
2. jmm and the piss drinking
3. floyd-oscar
4. floyd-hatton
5. anytime roger mayweather says "that dude dont know **** about boxing, he cant do nothing to nephew"
Floyd vs Mosley
Floyd Vs hatton
Floyd vs canelo
if you dont include floyd your in denial his antics make the series entertaining.
I agree that you need to have at least one Floyd performance, but I think you've overlooked his two best. His role in DLH-Mayweather was spectacular. But I think people really need to look at his very understated work in the Mayweather-Ortiz installment. His world was spinning, the centrifugal forces nearly tearing him to shreds. Watching him do his best to keep it together, or at least give the appearance that he had it all together, was great television.
Marquez drinking his own piss was the only exciting thing about him being on 24/7. As great as a fighter as he is, the guy is pretty boring on 24/7 imo
Did you watch the last episode? Marquez' best 24/7 moment was the aftermath of the last pacquiao fight, alone in the shower with blood streaming out of his nose! That was great piece of filming, it encompassed the entire four fights and shows the conclusion of a great saga! I thought it was quality!
Oh and nobody can pop a speedbag like Marquez, I always look forward to that in a Marquez 24/7

lol i forgot how good this is....
Floyd was amazing in the de lay hoya 24/7!!
.
Jesus ... Floyd was a madman in that 24/7. Wow, hahaha. I forgot how good that was. I may have to reconsider my position here. It is a general rule that the B-side of the 24/7 has a few built-in advantages. This may have been the best.

I've had this discussion with a few of my friends who agree with you on this. I understand what you're saying. Maybe I'm just a Mexican nuthugger, but I thought JMM was so over-the-top in such a subtle way. If you look at the collection of things he did and said, he comes off like a kind of evil genius savant.
