Having monitored the odds for Klitschko vs Povetkin (as I do with most fights) , I find it absolutely staggering that some bookies are giving odds as good as -275 on wladimir Klitschko just to win the fight, and that alexander povetkin has shortened from being a +600 to a +350 and with some bookies even +280!
In the fractional version of odds that means wladimir klitschko started out as around a 1/6 absolute certain winner with the bookies, right down to 4/11 with some bookmakers. Now obviously this would usually be given as a sign that a lot of money is going on the klitschko challenger as a lot of casual punters usually like to bet on big money underdogs hoping that they can collect a big pay day, but on examining a graph on oddschecker it seems as though 50.5% of money staked has gone on Wladimir Klitschko , with only 43.54% going on Alexander Povetkin (the remaining % being bet on a draw), this begs the question what do the bookies see in Alexander Povetkin? Are their some crooked judges being used tonight out in Russia ( nothing against russia just trying to figure out why on earth such a dramatic shift in odds have occured).
If someone had of said to me this fight 2-3 weeks ago i would of put everything i owned (not literally) on the fact that Wladimir Klitschko will win this fight at ease, but having seen the dramatic shift in odds and willingness of the bookies to take bets on wladimir klitschko at much better odds than usual I am starting to consider whether something fishy is going on. as an example , and i know these 2 fighters are completely different fighters etc, but mariusz wach was started out as a 30/1 underdog to beat wladimir klitschko and on fight week even when money piled on this man bookies still were confident to take bets on him at around 25/1 , with povetkin not that much money has even gone on him and bookies seem so timid to take bets on him!
What is going on in your eyes here? am i overthinking?
The referee Luis pabon has reffed both Wlad & Povet. He seems to let fighters do their thing, doesn't get involved that much.
Ted Gizma : usa judge nothing crazy on his record
Glenn Feldman : USA judge, good scoring thus far
Verbeke: not to sure about him
Pabon? The ref that allowed 50 clinches in 3 rounds in the Wlad-Mormeck fight, great..............
Ted Gizma is a criminal. I believe this is what you are looking for:
"WBA-appointed Klitschko-Povetkin judge Ted Gimza has been given special permission by the Circuit Court of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, Lake County, Illinois, to leave the USA to work the WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight championship fight on October 5 in Moscow, Russia. Gimza, who in a plea bargain pled guilty to a felony weapons charge on July 29th (Lake County Case Number: 12CF382) is serving a two-year probation which includes 24/7 electronic home monitoring, a.k.a. “ankle bracelet” for a period of 160 days which extends well past the fight date. According to Keith S. Brin, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Lake County, Gimza has been granted the right to leave the country between October 1 and October 7 for employment purposes and is released from electronic home monitoring during the above time periods. The WBA is aware of Gimza’s legal situation and both camps have signed off on him working the fight." Via f1ghtn3ws

My god I don't believe it, Wlad Klitschko is getting robbed tonight no doubt in my mind now.

I wonder if the fix is really in? Like say if Povetkin drops vlad, ref will stop it early and such.
he won't even have to drop him. calzaghe-manfredo stoppage coming up.
Ted Gizma appears to be ok, judged Hopkins vs Calzaghe in favor of Joe.. Still researching
so he scores for the guy not landing and getting countered and outboxed. that's good to know.

After a bit of research ( http://gyazo.com/1694571869f130bc07bf36fecc6527ec ) It appears the 3 judges in use tonight will be:
Ted Gimza
Glenn Feldman
Philippe Verbeke
Anyone know anything about these 3 ?
Is there any other way to cross check that $$$ coming in for each fighter are close to even?
Sigh its 1am here, the fight doesnt start till 5am and this just has me all the more curious.
I think your fight start time is a bit off it's at least 6 hours away.
I see a few points being taken and maybe even a DQ, the rules are going to be enforced tonight this isn't Germany that allows Wlad to hug his opponents to death.

Yeah, I like your over bet very much!
I'd say thats the way to go especially if Povetkin thinks he may win a robbery decision, he is bound to just try and survive. I really want the fight to go the distance now just to see if we have crooked judges tonight or not :p
This is an aussie sports book with the current line
Boxing - Unification Heavyweight 3h 55m
Wladimir Klitschko 1.30 (opened at 1.15 was 1.18 approx 4 hours ago)
Alexander Povetkin 3.45
Sorry this is not usa odds but 1.30 means bet 100 win 30 (so its approx -333).
Huge move.
It happens if bookies know something. any idea who is judging tonight? Be prepared for a shock split decision win.

Thanks for clarifying TheIcon something however does not make sense.
Are the bookmakers simply matching another line, why would it move if money is coming in near equal.
I wonder if Wlad will be getting ready for the bout in a siberian meat locker in the stadium.
Exactly that to me is what doesn't add up. I'll tell you what this compares to for me, WWE events, on the day of events the bookies dramatically shift odds so that the winner of the event ends up being at a much shorter price than he started at, this usually isn't because of money wagered its because they pick up on some inside knowledge that is leaked. Of course its different because in WWE they can be absolutely certain of the winner and therefore can dramatically shift odds in 1 way to the point of making the guy that is going to win, the favorite, but the kicker in boxing is that wlad can still KO povetkin at any time in this fight and therefore they will not actually want to make Povetkin the outright favorite, but if Povetkin knows that this stuff is going on then we may see a Povetkin survival mode for 12 rounds followed by a robbery decision in Russia.
If Wlad fights the way I feel he will fight and that is in a respectful way of Povetkin then I would be taking the over 9.5, a bet like that is probably the way to go IMO as I would not like to be betting on what these judges are going to do based on the way these odds have come in.
Also, here is a look across the board for anyone interested in current odds
http://gyazo.com/8c8972fa0fcf1297df55cc1f1c988bac
these odds are literally changing all the time in povetkins favor, as you can see with betfair Wlad is -257, and with many other bookies he is at the -300 - -350 area, as someone just said the last time odds went like this was the brewster fight. I strongly believe that if this fight goes the distance we will have a split decision robbery on our hands in povetkins favor, does anyone know the details on the guy who won the purse bid to have this fight in Russia? There may be a reason he was so adamant on getting this fight..
Of course this is all purely speculation but bookies rarely make knee jerk decisions without causes.
Wlad just went from -400 to -335 on my site, some weird $h!t is happening now, that means someone just threw millions on Povetkin, to make the odds jump like that so drastically.
Icon you're probably right taking the over will be safe, because these odds jumping like this isn't normal.
Tyler you're probably right too, Russian hierarchy families probably have their hand in this cookie jar. Maybe Povetkin can generate a lot of money in Russia if he "steals" the belt.
