Promoter Eddie Hearn is still eyeing a mouth-watering contest between Carl Froch and WBA middleweight champion, Kazakh Gennady Golovkin.
But Froch, who was predictably named British Fighter of the Year at the annual British Boxing Board of Control awards night, still has the small matter of disposing of George Groves, in Manchester, next month.
Golovkin is a fearsome puncher with a record of 27 straight wins, 24 by way of knockout.
But Hearn said: "I think Carl Froch would fight Golovkin next. I don't think Golovkin is overly keen.
"That's what I've heard from various sources. I think it's a wonderful fight that's going to be PPV in the US and the UK."
I haven't seen anything to suggest GGG beats Froch. I like GGG, and have followed him for a while but what does he have that Froch hasn't seen before?
Froch has trouble with speed and movement. GGG has quick shots, but he comes forward and cuts the ring off nicely, but Froch is a bigger man that will not be backing off and will hit hard enough to demand GGG's respect.
GGG hasn't seen anything like Froch, or close to his calibre of quality since turning pro (can't compare his amateur career to his pro one).
Froch has faced speed (Dirrell, Ward, Bute, Pascal, Taylor -to a degree), hard-hitters (Abraham, Pascal, Kessler), brawlers, slickness, pressure fighters, heart - and all at 168. A weight GGG has not experienced as a professional - especially of a high quality.
Stylewise, i think Groves poses more problems for Froch than GGG does. He's quick and moves a lot, and hits pretty hard - but he's chinny and if Froch catches him, he'll go down.
Froch has one definitive loss on his record. Andre Ward. Arguably a top 3 fighter in the sport. Two controversial decisions to Kessler 1 and Dirrell, but by Kessler 2, Froch seemed to have matured.
I just don't see GGG beating him. I do hope it comes off though, because it will make a hell of a fight.
Alot of people thinking GGG would ko froch,,,, They are wrong,,,
froch is a style nightmare for GGG,,,
GGG would be fighting a guy that can take his shots, back up ggg, and test ggg's chin and stamina,,
I think froch stops GGG late, in a war
Because Froch has no intentions it seems of moving up. He says he walks around at 172, not even the light heavy limit. Him and Golovkin are close to the same weight on fight night, this would be an interesting fight.
stevenson called him out when he was 168 and after the chad fight he said he would come down to 168. not a peep from hearns or froch
For sure, but he has just sprung from nowhere and theres a lot of fuss and noise abaout him. So id like to see wha the fuss is about. Against Floyd would be nice for me to see how good he is against the elite.
Golovkin was a top amateur and was very hyped becoming a pro after beating great pros in the amateur. His hyped was a 2 sided blade because this terrified Sturm and Universum when he became Sturms mando so they fcuked him over. The moment he was released from his contract, he came to US and HBO looking for top guys
Lucas did not consistently take on the best opponents Vivian Harris was among his best wins and he wasn't unlucky he wasn't as good. The way you build up Golovkin how can you turn around and say him losing isn't being exposed? The entire boxing community treats him like God, shouldn't they be humiliated when he loses?
Garcia, Devon Alexander, Zab Judah, Lamont Peterson, Humberto Soto, Olosegun, :dunce:??? That's about as good a level of opposition as you'll see in the division.
The Matthysse hate has really gotten out of hand and is starting to get pretty delusional. The guy is a very good fighter and Garcia deserves props for going the distance and pulling out the close decision against a very very tough opponent.

No he wasn't. What are you talking about?
You don't think Lucas got exposed? You hype these guys up like Gods, you think he beats Froch, so you need to be laughed at when he loses.
No? he was unlucky, and besides Garcia is a good opponent. If you consistently take on the best available opponents you'll encounter a loss whether through styles or bad luck with judges or injuries.
that would be a fun match up
I have my doubts Froch get past Groves without some help form Judges, I think Groves slickness will make Froch look like he did against Dirrell...JUST AVERAGE!
Froch knows it that is why he came out and right away was complaining about Groves style and saying "He Hope He Comes To Fight" to beat Froch you just have to make him move his feet
GGG wouldn't have to knock Froch out I think he would out-box him! GGG however is much easier to HIT so if Froch lands with his Power it could be a problem especially at 168. GGG is not slipper he either just eat punches or he tries to catch them, his head movement is minimal so Froch would be able to land with his Power
Agreed. I like GGG, but Froch is a beast and will go to war if he has to. He has enough power and such an unorthodox style to keep GGG guessing all night. Froch in 10.froch wont knock him out and him willing to go to war is a reason why he could lose this fight in the first place.
Froch is a horrible matchup for Golovkin imo
Have another look at Matthyse vs Garcia to see how a feared puncher goes against a bigger, stronger guy with durability and pretty good power himself.
Froch would wear GGG down and stop him, Golovkin is a little guy at 160, Froch is a huge 168lb'r, Golovkin will find himself forced back and manhandled, and punchers don't do well when bullied by bigger and stronger opponents, they are too used to being front runners

Typical Golovkin fan, what you going to say when he loses? You think you are a genius because you think Golovkin is the GOAT.
I dont think he is the Goat you mong i just think he beats Froch lol, I am a fan of both by the way.

Best post I've read here, thinking GGG would be a favourite is utter madness. I think Froch wins a UD, no stoppage either way here, I just don't think Froch hits hard enough to stop GGG and I think his chin is too good for even the Kazakh's power.
Froch UD 12, but it would be close, especially early on, GGG would be one of the faster guys Froch has faced and will get in close early but Froch has the skill and the speed to back Golov up. He also has an underrated jab, he used it so well against AA and Kessler.
GGG maybe, just maybe has a puncher's chance and that is it.
Easy fight for Froch, he'd brutalize him.
I'd say some fans are down right delusional.........
first thing mackllin = trash.
ishida = trash.
golovkin stopping froch?
oh boy has the hype train reached a all time high...........
golovkin would get knocked smooth out of ring against froch.
it's lucas matthysse all over again in the sense that people are so excited & hyped about the punching power that you overrate the boxer.
everyone knows that i break down styles.........I'm obsessed with it. thats how i predicted that lucas would have problems with his right eye against garcia because i saw how his skin reacted towards well placed shots (everyone called me a damn fool)
heres one for golovkin............golovkin needs you back peddling & hurting. he NEEDS you to feel his power. in realty golovkin breaks down and looks below average if he can't hurt you with his power. (he starts to look very sloppy & average) froch will take anything and everything that he has to dish out & knock him smooth out & that will be the end & story of gennady golovkin..........
never mind what nut huggers are saying. in realty this would be a horrible fight for golovkin to take.
I hope Froch exposes Golovkin, what part of beating 154 pound Ishida makes people think he beats Froch? People are making fools of themselves.
How is Froch beating ggg exposing him? Is froch ****?
No he really isn't, Golovkin just walks down inferior opponents with no head movement he is Lucas at 160.
If you think that then you know **** all kid.
GGG hype is getting worse than Matthysse. I still remember when Bute was supposed to KO Froch "in the middle rounds" too.
Top 10 P4P fighter but still underrated.
why didnt eddie hearns run his mouth when stevenson called out froch? instead of calling out a guy who has never even fought at the division fight stevenson you twat
