hes almost there, hes taken some good fights and has won them impressively, i want to see him against a boxer like Murray or Ward, but hes got power, will give him that and hes quick and stays on fighting. I want to really see him vs Martinez or Chavez JR
You must have missed chavez fight over weekend.

its not just a personal opinion. this isn't something like ATG or p4p. If thats the case, a poster could just say Quillin is. Yet whenever a poster dare suggest that, there is a huge backlash even though he and GGG have beaten about the same quality of fighter.
Aren't you "backlashing" now though? A couple of others have said the same as you.
Objectively Golovkin isn't number one based on who he has beaten, but everyone's entitled to their personal opinion on who is the best.
Besides, JLoro posts it about Quillin all the time. :lol1:
you don't rank on the eye test. you rank guys based on accomplishments.
will martinez get beat up and stopped by golovkin? absolutely. i can't imagine anybody who watches boxing thinking otherwise. golovkin will beat the hell out of a 39 year old martinez. martinez will never fight again.
is golovkin the best MW in the world right now? on the eye test, yes. again, the eye test isn't how you rank guys.
the top ranked middleweight in the world (and the lineal champion,) is sergio martinez.
This appears to be the consensus^
H2H Golovkin is (by most here) considered the best MW on the planet.
Beating the current and proven lineal champ is a necessity however, to confirm GGGs status.
You listening HBO? Maravilla's a great and respected champ and deserves his big $ send off (or the chance to put the pretender in his place). Make it happen.
EDIT: sorry Darren, somewhere down the line, you dropped out of this discussion, good luck, nonetheless.
He has to beat Martinez. I remember when lucas was the next ATG and how he was going to murder garcia in the ring. We all saw what happened. I learned from that and now i feel with GGG the Potential is there but he hasnt done anything to say hes the best MW so ill wait till he steps up
I don't want to (and probably shouldn't be ) labouring the point. The threads about FMJ - GGG were almost all (if you take the time to look back) started by Floyd guys taking offense at the supposed 'insult' of Gena suggesting that FMJ would be his 'dream fight' - nothing more. The threads and discussion were begun and dominated by offended Floyd fans with very little (and for the record, surprisingly muted) - input by GGG fans, some of whom can be remarkably grandiose in their claims.
Once more, Floyd does not belong in this discussion and it is you and no-one else who introduced his name. I can't imagine why you'd take the time but if you go through the previous threads on GGG-FMJ you'll find that they, also, have been driven by fans of FMJ. Most GGG fans have shown more interest in Maravilla, Froch or even Ward. There may have been FMJ 'haters' joining in but if so, not on a significant level. Most Golovkin fans have little interest in him fighting at JMW.
I told you why I introduced his name-its based on the same threads you are referencing. Those threads were in no way started by floyd fans, and they were dominated by the usual suspects twosweethooks, cgarcia, junior gong, etc etc.
The point doesnt need to be belabored, we agree. Maybe it was more anti floyd fans than pro GGG fans. But you can simply check the date of when threads were started. The bulk of them were after that statement and the fight game episode where Lampley threw sergio completely under the bus.

I already conceded your point before. You seem easily able to discern the motivation for "floydstans" posts but can't for fellow "GGGstans". I still stand by what I say.
You might be one of the few posters who was big on GGG before, I don't recall saying you weren't. As such, you surely have noticed a surge in threads like this touting GGG as the #1 MW.

Maravilla would get KO'd by Golovkin at his point of his career.
Plus with all the injuries he's be incurring from his past 2 fights, you wouldn't be surprised if he suffered some injuries during the fight too. (non GGG injuries)
You never know for sure who would win a fight between top fighters until they fight. Right now I have a very high opinion of GGG and I think he is by far the best middleweight in the world. I think he probably beat all the 168 pounders too even though he is not a big middleweight. He said he could make 154 and still be strong. If that's true then I think he also beats anyone at 154 easily.Mayweather could give him a good fight at 154 but I think GGG would win. Floyd is too small to beat him and could probably fight at 140 if he wanted to.
To be the champ he has to beat Martinez but to prove he is the best middleweight that is not really required although he has a lot of work to do to gain that sort of uncrowned champion tag.
He needs to beat Maravilla to prove that IMO.
i can see where you're coming from BUT he can't beat him if Martinez won't fight him ... at what point where the champ just won't fight his biggest rival is it acceptable to say okay then ... this ducking can't go on for ever we have a new number 1 in town.
All I know is if GGG was fighting Martinez in next month I know who my money would be on
It's just a personal opinion. Some people think Terence Crawford is the best lightweight.

There is no way anyone can credibly make a case for GGG being the best MW right now. SInce when is "beating Macklin better" the sole criteria for ranking MW's?

You must think that only because you read Floyd-related stuff. I have thought highly of GGG since before Felix Sturm repeatedly ducked him.
Try to think about the issue without thinking about Floyd. Just try.

I agree with you, but on this one just be honest. GGG took off on NSB at the point he discussed going to 154 for floyd. SO why everything doesn't revolve around floyd its pretty clear part of the reason GGG has taken off on NSB is non floyd fans attachment to him as a someone who can make their dreams come true.
Maybe you are just a GGG fan based solely on his body of work, but I think even you've noticed the above.
