Brandon Rios practicing his counter right for PAC (Marquez style)

He's too slow, and his defense is trash. Pacquiao by KO!

Is everyone in agreement that that right hand counter is "Marquez" style because it is, in terms of intelligent boxing design, FAR off. That "counter" leaves him fully within Pacquiao's power base. If that "counter" doesn't land or doesn't land flush, Pacquiao can still counter with ANY weapon in his arsenal. And I mean ANY! The right hook will catch Brandon coming forward, the straight left will catch him pulling back, the left uppercut will catch him during (as he appears to be leaning over his front knee) and the left hook thrown after a forward step will catch Brandon as he's sliding off. The GENIUS of Marquez's counter is that, even if he missed, Manny has to turn and reset his offense as Marquez uses his aggression and habit of leaning forward during his straight line attack against him. They should be working on him slipping OUTSIDE Pacquiao's right as Manny steps in and, after Brandon gets a sense of timing/ comfort with the movement, add in how to properly throw that right hand. I don't think that Pacquiao is going to change up the way he fights enough for that punch not to work at least one more time. The danger is that, if his timing is off on Manny's feints, he could run into a fight ending right hook.

Knowing his coach I think that's their only gameplan. LOL, I was about to say that pretty much. :D

Is Brandon planning to try to outbox Manny. Watching Rios move around the ring is like watching a baby deer learn how to walk. Robert Garcia should know that as soon as Brandon gets hit good, he's going to be in the trenches with Pac, then it'll be all down hill from there. Pac's gonna light him up with power & speed. Brandon is tailor made for an asswhoopin' in this one.

Rios is too slow, too predictable, has no defense nor technique. Rios is just tailor made for Pacquiao. Sure, he can try to land a punch like that but it's almost impossible to do that, you need perfect timing to do it and Rios doesn't has that kind of ability. Pacquiao should be able to overwhelm Rios with some fast combos and if he's not completely shot to pieces after his last fight with Marquez, then he should be able to easily KO Rios.

All Pacquiao has to do is stay upright for this fight. I seriously doubt Rios can get a KO. Even in the video his counter was a half step too slow. He seems sharp otherwise but not enough for Pacquiao. I say Pacquiao win but it'll be another fight where he takes way too many punches. I don't see Pacquiao fighting too much longer. If he does he'll go the way of Mosely, Morales, RJJ and other badly faded fighters trying to stay relevant.

He's got a S&C, he looks more motivated than usual, there are still 2 months left till they fight, I'm still picking PAC, but we might we counting Rios out too soon.
