watching it right now, Cotto had the perfect game plan but Floyd just adapted and outsmarted him. right game plan, yes. Blue print, No. Blueprint is something JMM showed us to beat pacman. that last 10 sec spurt pacman does EVERYTIME was cracked, thus catching JMM's right with his face.
What makes floyd such an ATG is his ability to switch his style on the fly. :boxing:
No matter what the blueprint to beat mayweather is, hell just chew that up and spit it back in your face.
Theres no Blueprint to beat Mayweather.
People who say Floyd didn't take this fight seriously and didn't prepare like he usually would are just plain stupid. Floyd takes every fight serious and is at his optimum level of performance come fight night. Cotto fought a good fight and made Floyd earn that win.
An old Cotto fought better than expected, but Floyd still won fairly easy, in fact, late in the fight it looked as if a ko was in Cotto's near future.
Cotto fought well in the middle rounds though...infact, if the fight were scored with the first and last few rounds not considered, he would have lost a very close fight to Mayweather, unfortunately Judges have to score all rounds, and the first and last few all belonged to Floyd.
But props to Cotto, he gave us 4 good rounds against an ATG.
Yeah, the third round he shook off quicker but the fourth he was stiff legged. Corley was one of those funny guys...couldn't beat top guys but gave quite a few HELL. Almost beat Judah. Had Cotto in BIG trouble and got quick hooked when Cotto returned the favor in PR.
Arguably beat Maidana a few years ago, beat McCloskey in Belfast.
Corley's underrated.
The 4th round of his fight with Mayweather is probably the best and most exciting round of Mayweather's career.
every architect has a blueprint, floyd just picks the guy that has the wrong tools. there's a reason floyd wanted no part of top rank. they started asking him to fight tougher competition, like margarito and were willing to negotiate for paul williams. he wanted to be his own boss, sure, to pick and choose the opponents.
I don't think the cashcow will find it difficult at all to beat floyd. he's already done it with that cattle herder while being weight drained. no big deal.

no. cotto just didn't respect floyd's power. cotto's weakness is nonstop aggression which floyd isn't that's why he was able to setup his punches too.
I think Mayweather is a tougher boxer than people give him credit. He goes into beast mode at least once in every fight. Unlike other fighters when he goes into beast mode he gets more accurate and still stay focus. I think the only fight I've seen him panic was against Shane Mosely. Once he recovered, it was beast all the way. He hit Mosely with some shots you can tell he was deliberately trying to humiliate him.
yeah good point. it did seem like all the sudden floyd said-this mothaphucka might whoop my a$$ if I dont take care of business.

He wasn't the only one. Corley brought it out even better. Rocked May good in the 3rd, better in the 4th, and May opened a can on him like wow. That was Mayweather the animal side on full display.

I didnt see the animal side of Floyd at all in any of his fights, the only thing I ever see is a surgeon slicing and dicing up his foe. What cracks me up is the statement Floyd is a defensive fighter, is going forward peppering Canelo, Guerrero a defensive type fighter.
Watch his fights boys, going forward, peppering your opponent making them defensive isnt a defensive fighter. Floyd is so damn good and smart that he does not use combinations aside of an occasional 3 punch combo to keep himself from be caught. That isnt defensive.............that is being the best boxer out there who knows how to WIN!!!
I think the promise of future earnings brings out floyds "beast". If you look at the Corrales, Gatti, and Hatton fights, each where floyd had dominant KO performances, each was at a point where a win would lead to "step up a level" for lack of a better term.
I did think Shane and Cotto made floyd fight and both reminded floyd that "defense wins championships but offense wins games."
Blooding his nose and winning 2 rounds = Bringing out the animal in Mayweather :lol1:
You obviously can't score a boxing match. Cotto came up short but he won more than 2 rounds in that fight.
I don't think there is an animal in Mayweather that Cotto brought out. Mayweather is a careful defensive boxer with little aggression. He is good at what he does, but never a beast. I thought Cotto, Judah, Oscar and Hatton did better than Canelo was capable of tho.
I thought the best and most competitive fights for Floyd in sometime was Hatton Hoya and Cotto..I thought those three guys brought it to May,Ortiz tried to bring it,but the dude just sucks..

Theres no Blueprint to beat Mayweather.Good point. Floyd wasn't motivated for Cotto, and still beat his ass. Eating fast food every night trying to gain weight. Doesn't look like the usual Floyd and still wins going away. Some went as far to say that Cotto even drew with Floyd because Floyd wasn't Floyd. That's what makes Floyd great. He still wins.
Even on his off nights which everyone thinks that he isn't supposed to have, he still wins. Floyd gets criticized only by fanatics, and then looks, and fights better after the Cotto fight, and they say it was the comp.
They have to keep the "if Cotto was prime" argument alive forgetting to say the same about Floyd. If you're going to hate, at least come up with a legit thought. They always want to match the worst Floyd against a guy who was at their best in one fight. They do the same with Ali. They never match the prime Ali or prime Floyd. It's always the vulnerable Ali or Floyd.
When Floyd's fans do this, they are full of ish, lmao. That's why I laugh at some of these comparisons because they believe inferior fighters beat Floyd because Floyd didn't fight them. I'd go that route too if I hated or didn't like Floyd. It's logical.
