Only the Pacquiao really has any potential mainstream appeal, so Top Rank and Golden Boy know who is gonna foot the bill for these ppvs. The hardcore, dedicated boxing fans who will need to be chained to their beds in order to keep from spending some money to see each of these three fights.
It's a tax on us real fans.
Figueroa-Arkawa
Thurman -Chaves
Zab -Garcia
Periban -Bika
Mares getting knocked out by Gonzalez
Maidana -Lopez
Wilder's KOs
Lara-Angulo
Danny-Lucas
Molina coming back on Bey
But to an HBO hugger like you Showtime failed
also paulie broner and karass berto. probably some more i'm forgetting
I think some of you are missing the point. The one and Manny's ppv are always gonna be ppvs. they're the only mainstream draws in boxing. The quality of the card is irrelevant. There is no way Floyd or Manny are fighting on basic cable.
And comparing showtime to hbo is a joke. Showtime has put on better cards for years now.
JMM-Bradley = not sure
PAC-Rios = sure
Maidana-Broner = stream
Exactly where I'm at. Had a damn dream that I didn't get the Bradley Marquez fight and my dad comes home from my sisters telling me it was the greatest fight he'd ever seen. That was last night haven't been able to shake it. He said Bradley put Marauez on the floor in the 6th but wouldn't tell me anymore. I never have dreams about that ish either. Ill probably buy it now sigh.

i agree with you but fig and arkawa and periban vs bika were hbo fights
Showtime's highlight of the year is a boring event that ripped off thousands of fans. Four boring fights that all went the distance with a main card fought by two chickens. And these Floyd-loving crazy fanatics are proud of it.
Makes me puke.
that was a ppv not a showtime regular event

Did Showtime have a good year?
Very good, though they used to do great fights at much less cost, so you could count on them having a stacked fall/winter schedule. Remember Castillo Corrales, Marquez Vazquez etc.
HBO had a dead summer? Showtime had cards every week while HBO sat around. When is the last card the did Barker-Geale? And before that Zou?
I can think of GGG Macklin, Dawson Stevenson at least. Also, there's no chance Showtime had 8 cards this summer, nowhere near. So your numbers are WAY off
They also had nothing for the first 4 months of the year, till Canelo Trout. The highlight (even on paper!) was Garcia Judah.
I don't assume to know things a board member knows so thanks for the inside info.
Well it's either that or they soured on boxing. Usually this stretch is packed with boxing action on both networks, till new year
Alright when Showtime announces their budget is shot for the year and the only reason they're putting it on PPV is because they can't put it on regular Showtime, you'll be the first to know. Because they'll obviously come out with that kind of info.

It would seem like Showtime budget is shot, remember they have us 8 regular cards while HBO gave us one, now HBO is going to give us 6 regular shows while Showtime gives us 2.
I do think this is a pay your fighters ppv.
I don't get this, please explain.
I didn't name any fight. I said I was a fan who watched what they show but I'm not on showtime board like you so shouldn't you have known it. Or Do you just handle the budget portion

why do you say that?
Why would anyone pay to see pac who just got slept and rios who just got out pointed?
Then pay money for that. Trippin
Cause it could be the fight that retires Pac, who's a legend and a PPV star. And it's a guaranteed action fight. Pac also looked great last time out minus the 2 punches, so there's a lot of questions that will be answered.
Showtime should be able to come up with mouth watering match-ups for the rest of the year. They're supposed to have made truckloads of money from their Mayweather venture.
That's why you named it too right? :dunce:

No you're probably right. Let's put two guys who've never been on PPV on a PPV right around Christmas when everyone's spending budget is tight.
How'd Canelo do BTW? :lol1:
Just remembered Maidana-Morales was a PPV.
