Since Froch gave Ward the closest fight of his career (he only needed to win one more round and the fight would have been an official draw), if Groves was to somehow beat Froch would that make Groves the biggest threat to Ward at 168? I guess it depends on how he wins also but I don't think Groves beats Froch unless Froch gets old overnight.
I also think Dirrell would be properly awkward for Ward but they're proper buddies so that one looks like strictly theoretical.
Rather strangely, could see someone like DeGale being a nasty handful because he is quick, awkward and technically polished as well. DeGale plants his feet a bit more than Dirrell and has been yelled into shape by little Jim McDonnell as well.
Froch beat Dirrell and Groves has a win over DeGale; but I do think styles often win fights and the form book/ring record can be wrong.
My personal hunch is that Ward goes fishing in the LHW pond and would like a slice of B-Hop first. Chavez JR is so big these days, and so well-connected with the governing bodies, that he might be on the Ward's menu as well.
A fight ready & mentally focused Andre Dirrell is Wards biggest threat. Whether that's a possibility though.
Froch will always have problems with Wards speed & tactics. Although I don't know how Ward would fare in the UK. I assume OK but you never know.
I couldn't answer about Groves until after I see him step up.
Everyone seems to forget that Froch adjusted and dominated the last three rounds of the fight.
If it was a proper 15 round old school fight, Ward would have got knocked the **** out.

Lets be honest, the fight wasn't even close, Ward completely dominated Froch , could never understand those scorecards
The scorecards were misleading, Ward took Froch to school in their fight, Froch won around 3 rounds max, most of which were either really close or Ward decided to cruise to a decision at the end. Keep in mind Ward was fighting with a broken hand, a hand he broke prior to the fight.
