i think to beat floyd somebody will have to be either really quick or have crazy power. being pretty good in all or most departments (e.g. Canelo) will get you nowhere cause floyd is simply great in every department leaving u with basically fuk all advantages.
you know amir kahn/prime pac speed that's just epic levels of fastness and is very hard to deal with (obv I'm not saying kahn himself has a chance just using his speed as an example ... e.g. the way zab's speed caused problems for a while)
or crazy GGG style power ... where even a jab knocks you back and fuks u up.
Did nacho also gave a break down when Marquez lost??
This. Easy to play arm chair analyst but as Nacho and JMM both discovered, it's a whole different ball game when you step into the ring with Mayweather.
Watch the last episode of All Access...Mayweather summed it up. He basically said that Canelo was not a threat and he built him up so he could take him down. It was all just a big joke right from the start and Mayweather pretty much said so straight out.
I love that Nacho said this, because it's true. Canelo and his team were completely thrown for a loop when Floyd came forward to meet him, instead of boxing off the back foot and fighting completely defensive. The thinking being that he fought Guerrero that way, so he certainly would the bigger, stronger Alvarez. I bet the gameplan did immediately go out the window.
I think Mayweathers core strength is second to none. The man works.
You add on that to his experience, reflexes, and way to think through a fight, it's a tall order to ask for a 23 year old to step on that stage.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I watched the fight. Canelo trying to box with Floyd, the WHOLE fight? Effing ridiculous.
Thinking he could outbox Floyd, and not really go after him, and try bully him, makes him an idiot.
It reminded me of Haye Wlad, both Canelo and Haye just played too defensively, and didn't bother taking any risks, because an ugly points loss is nowhere near as devastating as a KO can be. Live to fight another day.
Two mexican stars have recently lost, Canelo and Mares. They both lost. But Mares is the one whose stock significantly fell.
mares stock fell cus it was such an upset not just the fact it was a KO. Canelo losing to Floyd in any way would not be an upset
When Mayweather came out of the corner to attack rather than wait on the punches, that was when strategy ended and there was no definite plan.

Beristain has had a grudge against Canelo since they were on the same TV show in Mexico, where he criticized the WBC for giving Canelo special treatment.
He's a great trainer but when it comes to Floyd he shouldn't talk, his strategy for beating Floyd is this :

And his insightful analysis of Floyd's technique :

canelo took no risks and didn't try to bully or corner floyd.
i understand he's not that kinda fighter but guerrero change his style why couldn't nelo?
it was a good fight boring at times, i was disappointed floyd didn't go at him more offensively but i felt nelo showed he has some decent defense.
Do you know why Cause Canelo doesn't have the stamina to do that only Prime Pacquiao, Margarito or a Roberto Duran can do that
Floyd does things in the ring people don't even notice,he throws punches away just to land others..his punch percentage could be a lot higher but he throws punches he does not even intend to land to land better harder punches..Floyd will sit on the ropes to make you open up..Canelo tried that with Floyd and ate a couple punches then Floyd backed up making Canelo look foolish
This comment is just terrible, I'm sorry bro. If Floyd throws away punhes he still hits them just with no power, that is correct but his % would not go up if he didn't do it... Then every punch he threw would be telegraphed, if he would have success just potshotting power shots he would but you are SUPPOSED to throw decoy punches. It's not some secret Floyd recipe a lot of fighters do it.
Anyone who thought Canelo had a chance was delusional, there is no way your best wins are Austin Trout and Josesito Lopez and even think you will have a chance against Mayweather it really is as simple as that.
Like Ricky Hatton said it best, once an opponent see how quick Mayweather is, their game plan goes out the window. Canelo saw how quick Mayweather was and lost the fight around the first round. I actually think Canelo is a good fighter and beats most of his opponents easy. Mayweather made him look less than ordinary.
I think Nachos points 1 and 4 where on....errrr... point.
Going into the fight, I thought Canelos best chance of winning was coming out like his ass was on fire, working the body, showing aggression, getting Maytweather in corner, trying to bully him.
I know, easier said then done.
I felt that he had to put money in the bank in the early rounds, and risk getting caught with something big, with a chance the early work would pay dividends in the championship rounds.
Did nacho also gave a break down when Marquez lost?? Canelo thought he could outbox Floyd and when he found out he couldn't it seems like he just stop trying. Like someone mention even Robert Guerrero was chasing Floyd down getting tag in the process and canelo is suppose to be the bigger guy here. Maybe canelo doesn't have a lot of confident in his chin?
What round was it where Canelo's corner was like "Ok, NOW it is time to turn up the pressure" and then Canelo proceeded to get his ass beat that round. Was it the 4th or 5th? Either way that's when **** really hit the fan for him and the frustration set in.
He didn't pursue effectively at all and didn't cut off the ring. He followed Floyd around and didn't bother to pump out a jab or keep his head moving. As a result, Floyd was able to measure him all fight long with his "throw away jab" which is more of a pawing motion than a punch and then he tags Canelo with the hard jab to Canelo's chin and a straight right.
He should have varied his proximity to Floyd so it would be harder to measure his distance. Instead, he fought a mid-range fight against a faster guy with a longer reach.
When a fighter is superior in just about every way one has to be willing to stick their neck out to get the win, Canelo didn't do that, but he gave a really good effort though.
