Fairly self explainitory really, Anyone know what his official role with golden boy is? As he is at every major fight? Think I heard a few years back himself oscar and shane mosley are partners in GB?
Anyone care to shed some light on this for me?
Enforcer..he is there to maintain order
some hint of truth to this. When Zab Judah went in on Oscar during that press conference earlier in the year, Bernard sprung to Oscar's aid and had to quiet Judah down
I don't buy that Ricky Hatton is a managing partner for GB in the Uk. I call bull****. I was talking to a guy at the fights last week sold ricky hatton ringside tickers for $25gs. I doubt very much that shaefeer and Hopkins had to do the same
Wikipedia:
Oscar De La Hoya - Founder
Richard Schaefer - CEO
Eric Gomez - Matchmaker
Bruce Binkow - CMO
Jeremy Hicks - Head Accountant
Bernard Hopkins - Managing Partner (East Coast)
Winky Wright - Managing Partner (South)
Ricky Hatton - Managing Partner (UK)
I am sure he picked guys who have some clout and name in the Boxing industry in those key areas (Winky lives in Florida, Hatton in UK and Hopkins from Phily)
Also Hopkins is a very good spokesman so you're more likely to see him more often at GBP events/weigh ins, etc to help (be it speaking publicly on the mic, to press, answering questions, etc) when Schaefer or DLH aren't able to.
yes. 5% stake in company. He also fills in on interviews when ODH can't make it for whatever reason.
You mean he covers for Oscar when he is on one of his Coke binges...

Bernard Hopkins is a class act. I couldn't stand him before the Pascal fight. I've been a fan ever since he started fighting again with Pascal.
he is a partner, then he has some role on the east coast with the up and coming fighters.
the reason he is at every fight i think is more because he is a student of the game and likes to go watch, he is also one of those guys who freely offers advice to the next generation and help them out which im sure has created some bonds
at the end of the day GBP just likes to bring out a bunch of fighters for their events, never been to a GBP event live myself but i reckon it does add to the atmosphere for the fans and inspires the fighters.
