Anyone agree?
Mayweather better skilled all around and defensively is better IMO. Pea was badly hurt by uncle Roger and tasted the canvas quite a few times.
Mayweather is the smarter fighter inside and outside the ring, beats him in longevity as well.Say what you want about Mayweather but the man is one of the most disciplined athletes of all time.
Time do give the man his due, he's right up there with the greatest of all time.
Both fighters put up a good performance and the fight could have been scored either way.
Yea it could have been scored either way but I disagree that it was a good look for both of them I think the opposite I thought it made them both look worse and showed their limitations but at least Pea was at the end of his rope.
Pea didn't do much in that fight, I have watched it a bunch. I didn't see Pea land much of quality or throw more than Oscar if anything it was close to equal.
Pea didn't dominate Oscar, he made Oscar look like garbage but it is not like he did anything with it, also don't act like it was an easy fight to score~

whitaker would have wanted to fight, (and beat) cotto, mosley, and dlh in their primes, and would have spotted manny his drug supply (and beat him too)..wouldn't think twice about fighting everybody mayweather is accused of ducking (margarito, tsyzu, etc)...lol...both great little guys...ethics separates them...
floyd wanted to fight cotto, mosley and dlh in there primes called all 3 out in fact
they all 3 said no
If you don't think out throwing, out landing and scoring a knockdown is "doing much" than I don't know what to tell you.

I think Floyd is better because I think he's done it longer, is more versatile, but most of all if 2 guys are close and one is a Southpaw then I will always give more props to the righty because I think being a Southpaw is the biggest advantage in all of pro sports and times that by 10 in boxing. Its a huge huge huge advantage. Pea would still be great but wouldnt be as good if he were a righty and Floyd would be seen as maybe the best ever if he were a Southpaw. No one wouldve came close to beating him
If Floyd was a southpaw he wouldn't even use the same style. It's all speculation.
But before that fight he almost lost to Hurtado and almost lost to Rivera in the first fight.
He gave Oscar stylistic issues but he really didn't do much in that fight himself, so he could lose to a lot of guys at that point of his career to guys that are very good.

He arguably beat a near prime De La Hoya when he was old and coked up. Bullsh*t you're not sure he could beat the version Floyd beat. He would obliterate Corrales and Alvarez and definitely beat Cotto.

I think Cotto would give Pernell hell, just like he gave Floyd hell but worse. I'm not sure if Pernell would beat Corrales, De La Hoya at 154, or even Canelo especially at the age of 36 like Floyd did.

no, also floyd and one of the goat? you see, fans need to understand, just because a fighter looks good against a less talented guys like guerrero or canelo, does not mean he is the great ffs, it shows he is better than them
look at floyds resume, you can say what you want
floyd ducked a prime kostya and mosley, they had his number, he ducked them to avoid losing, he thought corrales would be easier later on, it backfired, he lost but got the decision
then onto his ww, again, there was a prime cotto, margo and williams to really cement his resume, what did floyd do? he freaking retired to duck them! why do people ignore the fact during floyds prime, he ducked the best guys and only came back when they lost and were worn out!
then the 100 excuses to duck pac, he will never go down as one of the goat, because frankly, his resume is average, there are 50 fighters easy with better resumes in history, EASY
1. Canelo is very talented and was 15 pounds heavier.
2. You are referring to Castillo not Corrales and Castillo I was close and he didn't fight Castillo 'later on' in the sense of being past his best.
3. If you seriously believe that Mayweather after having fought Hernandez, Chavez, Castllo twice, Corrales, Judah, De La Hoya and Hatton, looked at Cotto, Margarito and Williams and decided to retire then you need your head examined. All the more so when he came back and fought Marquez, Mosley, Cotto and Canelo!
4. Resume isn't everything in judging a fighters greatness.
5. I need my head examined for even bothering to reply to you.
As Mak said "No not really". What really brings these two together is they are two of the most versatile fighters ever, they were all around great, it's a very old topic though. They'll forever be attached to one another in the IQ, versatility and talent department department. Resume wise I give Whitaker the edge still.
Excuse for what? I speak the truth. The less you fight, the less damage you take thus prolonging your career. Or do you think George Foreman wins a title in his forties without taking a decade off?

NO the better your defense, the less damage you take and it prolongs your career.

give it a rest dude. people know the real reasons the fights didn't happen. you can't change the truth no matter what you do.feel free to love manny all you want.
floyd is far superior to everyone in his generation. Time for a new debate.
