If we are to believe some of he rhetoric on the web the past few days. Mathysse was doing fine before Garcia busted his eye up. Mathysse then goth little gun shy and was seemingly focused on protecting his eye. Some fighters when cut or badly hurt look to return fire immediately and close the show knowing their injury puts them on borrowed time. Mathysse instead seemed to be trying to survive fighting in spurts and once he felt Garcia return fire would go back into his shell ... Did Garcia take "the machine's" heart and throw it into he upper deck of the MGM ?
I'm on the road now back to jersey.. The casino was packed I couldn't hear the commentary as I was sitting pretty far back. I can't wait to get home and watch it again. It was so bad I actually had the Floyd fight close.. I couldn't really tell if Canelo was landing or missing. I knew for sure mathysse was losing. But I really can wait to watch both fights again.
One of the judges in the Floyd fight scored it for Canelo. lol If that can happen, Matthysse can believe he's not out of it. lol I remember thinking that Lucas had to pour it on, but that's easy to say when you're sitting there having a beer at a fight party. lol

I didn't see it like this at all. Danny was outboxing him early on and Lucas didn't have an answer for it. Lucas' eye wasn't the problem here, it was the fact the his boxing is crap. He's slow, horrible foot work, off balanced, and relies on his power to much. even with his eye not swollen he loses this fight. people need to take out the Peterson KO out of there heads and really look at Lucas' boxing.

You better believe he did. lol
Watching at home, it was clear that Garcia was up by the late rounds. But fighters and their corners don't always see things objectively. Matthysse might not have truly felt where he actually stood in the fight. Lucas seemed cautious, and for good reason. Working with one eye affects your depth-perception, along with your sight on that side of your face (which,in this case, just happened to be Garcia's left-hook side). That has to affect your confidence, as well as your approach. It seems obvious now that Matthysse should've gone for broke, and I wouldn't doubt Lucas agrees with you today.

In the end of the fight Garcia told Lucas "bring it" and they exchanged at the end viciously. Lucas never lost his heart.
He felt Garcia's power and knew he can't freely come in swinging.
So much for the haters blamming the swollen eye. It wasn't shut and they were able to clear it some what in the last few rounds.
If Lucas eyes where unaffected maybe he would had been more active and would had been caught more by Garcia's punches. Still ppl here trying to make excuses
Mathysse lost heart in the 1st few rounds when he hurt Garcia but couldn't take him out. To his credit he roared back and seemed to be taking over the fight when his eye swelled. It's hard to say if the momentum shift in Lucas' behavior woulda= victory. Lucas didn't fight as intelligently as he did in the Alexander and Judah fights. He relied too much on his power just like pops Garcia stated he would.
Garcia earned Matt's respect during the fight, no heart/pride-snatching though. I guess we'll need to wait til his next fight to see how much this loss affected him.
He should've went for broke ... For all the times he's come close only to get robbed ... For all the years waiting for his shot ... For his supporters, his countrymen. He ha to have known somewhere around the 9th or 10th round he was behind.. He should've went all out. He wasnt willing to walk through the fire... He excepted his fate. He was shook.

Lucas had his moments where it did look like he wasn't throwing all that he could, but if you actually watch the fight as a whole, Lucas put in work. No one can question his heart.
He should've went out on his shield who knows when he will get another shot at a title ... It may be the reason why he never will win one. He didn't dig deep enough when everything was on the line.

Yes,look how he was looking..Garcia ate his power shots and gave it right back to him..Lucas looked like Tyson after Douglas got up from his best shot..POWER IS NOT EVERYTHING ON BOXING,ONE DAY SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE YOUR POWER AND HIT YOU BACK JUST AS HARD...people love to over hype power punchers and underrate pure boxers..thats why i love boxing 1 thing can take you to the top BUT it will not keep you there
He ate Lucas biggest shots and Lucas realized there was no way he could win. Yes he kept swinging wildly to try and land something lucky, but he knew he was losing and culdn't do anything to change the eventual outcome.
You're having fun today, bro. lol
The way I saw it, the fight was close up until the swelling. That eye closed up fast. After that, Garcia started to pull away. It's tough to do anything with one eye, let alone fight a championship fight. Considering how difficult that is, it's impressive Lucas was able to hang in till the final bell. Those last few seconds were scorching. It would've been interesting to see what might've happened if Matthysse had use of both eyes. Of course, all credit to Danny for shutting the eye to begin with.
:alcoholic lol I have to

he looked frustrated, perhaps dispirited, but nowhere near defeated. just look at how he finished the fight, swinging literally blindly like a mad man. i'm sure he'd like another shot at garcia.

I was rooting for Matthysse but he def looked like a beaten man going into the later rounds he did try to rally in the 12th but one time i looked at him in maybe the 7th or so and he just looked like he didn't have an answer for Garcia
Questioning his heart, really? The guy was fighting his heart out whilst only being able to see out of one eye, he was talking through murderous shots and gave it everything he had.
The fu.cker ate The GARSH about 50 times whilst blinded and unable to see it coming and just smiled at him ffs
