Ref clearly told Ishe Smith to stop putting his head down and to stop clinching/holding several times in the fight. He wouldn't be telling Smith to stop if they weren't illegal.
The point was that there are no grounds for complaints in favour of Molina because Smith was bending down, sometimes i'm sure below the waistline, as well as clinching and indeed sometimes maintaining the clinch which the referee was noting. This is all standard fair in boxing, what is more seriously clamped down upon is the use of the head. Therefore if any of the two were behaving illegally it was Molina. Molina's problem is that he lacks skill.

I don't know about Smith but you know who was robbed? ME!!! I swear someone need to give me back that hour I spent watching that crap fest. I figured that was worth about $10 out of the $76 the fight cost last night so Imma need that refunded too.
Clinching is a illegal.
No it is not. Persistent holding is illegal. That is, consistently maintaining a clinch and holding. But again de facto it is not punished much at all, especially not in the US. British referees tend to be harsher on it though.
Bending down below the waist and turning away is against the rules. Don't mention rules if you don't know them.
I know the rules but was he persistently bending below the waistline because that is the rule and it is a rule that is barely ever enforced by referees. Thus de facto Smith was not doing anything wrong even if he was bending below the waistline from time to time.
The ref was telling Molina not to punch when Smith bent down, he should have been telling smith not to do that ****. It was bull****, Molina was basically prevented from throwing on the inside by the ref.
I've said it around 5 times now today, Nady was awful. Neither guy even tried inside by the end, they just collided and stopped, collided and stopped, over and over.
What Smith was doing was within the rules, deliberately punching the back of the head is not within the rules. Molina was prevented from punching on the inside by a combination of his own incompetence and Smith's good defence. You are blaming Smith for not allowing Molina to hit him! The ref was not harsh on Molina but rather kind, Molina deserved a point deduction for his use of the head throughout.

Molina was bull rushing forward with his head and missing punches as Smith slipped them and by virtue of that came together with Smith who then quite understandably clinched. If anything Molina deserves the greater blame not Smith. It is not Smith's fault that Molina has so little skill. Unfortunately the judges rewarded that lack of skill.

:lol1: @ Smith throwing "eye-catching shots", let alone actually landing them. He did absolutely nothing over twelve rounds to suggest that he was actually trying to win. Molina is a crap inside fighter that smothers the sh*t out of his work at close range, but he actually tried to initiate some form of contest.
Molina wanted to fight and Smith didn't. The ref was all over Molina too, he wasn't allowed to punch or even move his head in a clinch, ref blamed Molina for the shots behind the head when it was Smiths fault ducking and turning away. The right man won.

i thought smith landed all of the meaningful and eye-catching punches. he was constantly catching molina with the left hook on the way in.
i wouldnt say he was robbed. it was a close, horrible fight that neither guy really deserved to win. i would have been alright with a draw
This pretty much sums my thoughts up
shouldve been a draw for lack of trying i only gave it to smith because he atleast threw punches at molinas head.
molina fought horrible smith has some crazy weird looping punches and spoiled all night
Smith landed slightly more and for me he won rounds based on defence and ring generalship (Smith was comfortable with Molina's ineffective aggression therefore what ring generalship that was displayed was displayed by Smith). Against Bundrage Smith won the fight with the one two but you are right that in this fight Smith was not throwing many straight punches. Smith is old and slow but to his credit he has a pretty good defence. Ugly fight though.

This fight is best to be forgotten and never thought of again.......
not since demetrius hopkins vs charo have i seen such a boring horrible fight...
I did think molina won, but honestly only watched in pieces as we chose that fight to grill out
