Why are people making this news? Bernard was joking.
The last time he fought at 160 was 2005 or 2006 against Jermain Taylor...
He now fights at light heavyweight. Are you guys suggesting that after more than half a decade and nearly 50 years old that he can move down 2 weight classes? Dafuq is wrong with you guys?
Hopkins calling out Mayweather at 160 is just stupid in my opinion. Floyd weighing 150 on fight night shows how small he really is. Hopkins would outweigh Mayweather by as much as 25 pounds or more on fight night. That's not fair. I still think Mayweather would beat Hopkins at 160 after this great win over Canelo. Mayweather should not have to fight so far above his true fighting weight. I think Floyd is small enough to easily fight at 140. Most 140 pounders weigh at least 150 on fight night. Hopkins just wants that big payday. Hopkins is 48 and he has already had so many paydays and been on top for so long. Hopkins was a great fighter with history making accomplishments. His fights are horrible to watch now in my opinion. I wish he would retire. I can't think of a good reason why Mayweather would take that fight. Hopkins is not a champ at middleweight so Mayweather would not even win a middleweight title. Mayweather could make more money fighting several different guys at welterweight. If Hopkins wants another big payday he should just fight Ward instead of saying he will never fight Ward. Why the hell not fight Ward if you won't retire?
BHop couldn't make 160 lbs at 48 years old even he tried. His body has settled at the higher weight classes now. It's been nearly ten years (2005) since he's last fought at the Middleweight division. The old man will risk organ failure by depleting his body of all the vitamins, minerals, nutrients and electrolytes it needs in order to function
Bernard is probably looking to cash out, Mayweather fights are boring enough already, I don't see a lot of action in this fight. Bhop don't want to fight Ward is cause Ward is in his prime, Mayweather is on his way out too, so why not. The undercard better be good or there is no way it sells on PPV.
Now would be the time for B-Hop to campaign for it, not the most appealing fight on any number of levels but to see two guys of that level in the same ring is very rare the highest of high class chess match although it might end up like Pep-Ross 3
Mayweather struggles to make 150 then struggles to keep that extra weight on
Sit Down B-Hop lol, I love the guy and he is a legend himself but B-Hop always struggled with Authentic Boxers even in his PRIME against Roy Jones Jr their first fight and then with Jermaine Taylor twice and most recently with Chad Dawson
EVERYBODY WANT THAT MAYWEATHER FIGHT LOTTERY TICKET!
I think every fighter from 175 down wants a piece of Mayweather. Some fighters know they can't get down low enough but others foolishly think they can. Hopkins is one of my favorites so I'll assume he's just joking around. There's no way he says he wants no parts of Andre Ward but is willing to drop 15lbs to fight floyd. That doesn't look good for him at all.
Bernard by headbutt KO. He'll literally just lower his head and charge when the bell rang.
If Floyd survives that, it's ruled a no contest after Hopkins breaks his hip. The ram rush will have sapped what energy remained in his body after making weight.
Lol. Yeah OK.
If Floyd wants to fight at 160 then there are a lot of better options I'd rather see.
Hopkins has an eye on the pay day :lol1:
I think he might have been joking at first and then thought "You know, I might actually try this"
Floyd's not going near 160 the guy is a small Jr MW and not even a big WW.
Easy money for Mayweather. Bernard isn't active enough in the ring to consistently win rounds against a guy as fast or skilled as Mayweather.
If I was Mayweather, I would take this fight. Hopkins at any age is an ATG on his resume. If Mayweather beats him @160 lbs it would be great for his legacy.
