Look at the attention and hype this event is getting. Look at how many people went to the weigh in, the amount of press this is getting, the amount of hype that it has.
Really puts into perspective how big Manny/Floyd could have been.
I mean, even now Manny is still bigger.... imagine if the fight was made in 2010?
It'd dwarf this event.
Crazy isn't it?
Now proceed to fill the thread with he ducked him posts and what not
How could a guy who calls himself "Money" dump tons of excuses in this fight? Easy fight, easy money. You gotta be an idiot to blame everyone else but Mr Businessman.
Look at him today. He tried to duck Canelo, too. But Showtime said, "Hell NO!"
:unitedsta
Floyd v Pacquaio in early 2010 after Pacquaio had stopped Cotto would have been as big of a worldwide event as Ali v Frazier I. It had to happen at that point. Instead negotiations broke down and Pac ended up fighting Clottey.
it would of needed to be at a big ass stadium too, which it wouldnt have been either. so many what ifs and could of beens it really is sad we didnt get that fight even if it would of been as late as last year
Another thread rendered unreadable by the forum idiots, despite the last sentence of the original post.
J The UnBiased.
What a wonderful name. Really.
He has the best postin this thread. Truth is both are to blame and arum too. Anyone who just says Floyd was scared is a blind homer and doesn't wanna know the truth. But on topic yup cAnelo basically came out of nowhere I didn't even expect the fight to be this big with the weigh in and all. PAC and Floyd had years to marinate that hype. 3 mill buys easy
I find it funny how people on this site seem to have just seen the "rich coward" video a few months ago lmao, I saw it when it first came out and it's just funny how this is all of a sudden a staple in the the mayweather hate mafia community lol.
But anyway, I never said Manny said he was afraid of needle's. So why would you request for me to back that claim? As far as I'm concerned, I have never heard Manny say he was afraid of needles. Bob Arum said that, but it still didn't come out of Manny's mouth.
My problem is that when testing was 1st presented to Manny and his team, they did not agree with it.
Years later, in an effort to make the fight happen, Manny and his team agree'd to everything Floyd wanted involving testing, that is a fact.
My question to you is this. Why not agree to testing in the first place? You have passed all previous drug screenings held by the NSAC, you're a clean fighter, you have nothing to hide. Why walk from a fight with Floyd over drug testing and then fight Clottey?
Floyd is to blame for low ball offers and being a jackass in negotations.
Manny is to blame over testing and his entitlement issues.
Arum is to blame for trying his hardest to keep Manny away from Floyd because he never believed Manny could beat him and he didn't want to take the risk.
I'll wait for you to spin it fan boy.
You're wasting your time if you're waiting for a reasonable reply or concession when it comes to this. It's easier for the dumb people who want to live in a bubble to believe Floyd never tried to make that fight and that Manny is a Christian Saint who would fight anyone anywhere. Manny's fans are as delusional as he is.
Anyway, hopefully Floyd either smokes Canelo or gets into a dogfight like with Cotto and hopefully Manny KO's Rios; because if these things happen, we can still cross our fingers that Manny and Floyd meet in the next year or so. Better late than never. We also need Khan to lose to Alexander or for Alexander to win a boring fight so the winner of that fight doesn't jump ahead of Manny. But if Matthysse or Garcia win via KO tonight, my guess is that that will probably be the next fight come May with either Pac or Khan in September with a good Mexican undercard.
Floyd fights these days are all about the best box office draw and in order they'll go like this:
1. Pac
2. Matthysse or Garcia winner
3. Khan in London then Vegas
4. Sergio at 154
5. Broner
Those are the big money fights going forward. Will be curious to see how many get made.
Lot of people to blame HBO not pushing hard enough, Arum, Haymon, TMT, drug labs and all that **** but the buck stops with the fighters, could have, should have been a great fight.
A year later........................ This must be Floyd's clone. You floydiots are so dumb stupid. There is no enough videos coming from the horse mouth will change your stupidity.
This video showed how coward your boy and so terrified of Pacquiao. Now show me one video or link Pac said himself he was afraid of needle.
Sorry, but the December 2009 negotiations were the only real and serious ones and those were the negotiations where Manny's side asked for a 5 million dollar per lb penalty if Floyd came in over 147 (like that was going to happen) and then refused the OSDT; or at least didn't want the testing in close to the fight. Top Rank and Manny obviously did not want the fight at the time. Anyone who can't see this is a blind fool. After all of that, Floyd didn't trust them and showed little interest in dealing with them until last year when he offered Manny 40 million dollars cash - and Manny said no to that also. Canelo is only going to make 12 million or so and he's just as important to this fight's sales that is probably going to break the all time PPV and Gate revenue records.
Floyd is part to blame I suppose, but someone on Manny's side did not want this fight to happen back in 2009 for some reason. Either because Manny was doping or because Arum didn't want his Cash Cow to get exposed and so a bunch of bullshidt was thrown out to kill the negotiations.
This is the truth and I agree that it's the greatest disservice to Boxing fans in the history of the sport.
Obviously just woke up from your hibernation since 2009.
Floyd - "Pacquiao all needs to do is to accept the test and we have a fight."
Pacquaio agreed to his full test and Floyd chickened out. Then the floydiots still using the same excuses why the fight didn't happen. These idiots are so dumb stupid!

I think boxing could have been pumped up to be a major major sport again with this fight, in the publics eyes. Now that it didn't happen, it just points out the protection and politics that noone really cares for in a sport.
As for whos to blame, both sides had their fair share. I just cannot see how anyone can legitimately argue only one side is to blame, and try act credible. Beyond belief.... then again, i'm not a fanboy of either so

The hype will be back. It won't be as big as 2010 but still huge. Remember Tyson vs. Lewis was past its expiration date and still crushed records.
Especially if manny knocks out rios
Between 2008-10 Manny/Floyd would have been ultra mega fight. Galactic (if you will). Right now, both fighters in mid to late thirties and Manny on a losing run the fight has over marinated.
What if they win their next fight?

that they made this fight so early in alvarez career is evidence that they learned their lesson for stalling out the pacquiao fight.
i can't imagine this place getting any more excited for a fight, but if manny fought floyd pre marquez 3 then the fight would have been much bigger.
i mean much bigger, too. manny was a huge star. alvarez is still a new guy on the scene, and just now getting real star status. that fight would have sold 2.5-3million ppv without even trying.

yep.. arum screwed the fans out of a lot of great fights in recent years (juanma-gamboa, donaire-mares etc) but keeping pacquiao away from mayweather might be the single biggest crime committed against the sport of boxing in history. somebody needs to put out a hit on that old bastard already for the sake of boxing.
