RICKY HATTON last night delivered his verdict on the ring craft of Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather meets Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in the world's richest-ever fight at the MGM Garden Arena here tonight.
This was the venue where Mayweather shattered Hatton's unbeaten record with a tenth-round stoppage in December 2007.
Hatton, the retired former twoweight world champ, didn't hold back when he described just how good the world's best pound-forpound fighter is.
He told me: "If I had opened a box of confetti and thrown the contents at him, I still don't think I would have hit him!
"Whatever I did, I just couldn't do the job. He ducked and dived all the time and I couldn't hit him at all. So many people over the years have had the same trouble with him.

Floyd won the second fight, but he lost the first. The reason he won the second fight is that Castillo was demoralized and couldn't pick himself up for it. Floyd probably felt invincible in the second fight and thought no one can decision him, cos he lost the first so convincincly yet still got the decision. Floyd would have gained an extra yard pace and second win.d.
But Alvarez must take note of hattons words that he must be prepared to be shocked how hard it is to hit Floyd and what he did in training isn't working and not get demoralized. Persevere.
well that was then with castillo, this is now with canelo, i got floyd in 10 rds!! :boxing:
Your silly and biased opinions do not matter, Mayweather did not lose to Castillo. He is undefeated. The rematch of that fight proves it. If Castillo fans/Floyd haters can claim he should have won the 1st fight, he should have been able to make the 2nd one REMOTELY close. .

Please stop boosting. Canelo's defence is not that great, Trout is an underachiever, as that fight proved. SHOULD have KO'd the gassed Canelo who took a total of 4.5 rounds of that whole fight off, smh.
Canelo's defence and Floyd's defence should not ever be mentioned in the same sentence unless that sentence is "Canelo's defence and Floyd's defence should not ever be mentioned in the same sentence"
Thats funny right there!
Floyd is hard to hit but he's not invincible. With correct timing and speed canelo will get his in. Cotto was able to get a few good shots in and I think canelo is way more durable than cotto. A lot of Floyd fans is underestimating canelo's skills. Not sure if they're doing it on purpose since they recognized the threat.
He is hard to hit which disheartens his oppoents and is great defensively. But he isn't great offensively.
But as good as he is defensively, he has already lost to Castillo. So on any given day anything can happen.
But if Floyd wins, loses or draws, I agree with hatton that at the end of the fight Floyd will probably acknowledge it would have been his toughest fight to date.

People always talk about Floyd's defense but they never talk about Canelos
Canelo is very slippery, whenever he tried to slip punches against Trout, he couldn't touch him

If this fight is anywhere near close, Canelo is getting the robbery :boxing: Even if it's say 4 rounds to Canelo with the rest of the rounds competitve they'll give it to Canelo, boxing is a business, and Canelo is very marketable.
My EXACT thoughts when I read this. I have felt sinse the signing of this fight and still do, that if it's a close fight, Mayweather will not get the decesion, as messed up as that sounds. Canelo is Golden Boy's current cash cow that they are banking on. Mayweather is not GBP so they do not eat as much off him, even if he makes the events bigger and better, they are trying to make Canelo have that marketing draw. Smart fight for GBP to pursue, cause Canelo doesn't need to win to get a win.

Ricky hit the nail right on the head Floyd is just too good and he dosen't underestimate any fighter he stays healthy year round I don't think he goes above 155 lbs. in between fights either always in shape Canelo has the cards stacked against him in this one.
The PPV of this fight will gonna be very high...if Mayweather jr. wins, I doubt if he will give Canelo a rematch, but, if Canelo wins then, there gonna be a rematch. Hopefully, Canelo wins...

If only Mayweather were marketable, they could make a real star out of him.
Marketable to who? Most of those fans were Mexicans. Canelo doesnt have the US crossover appeal.. Some casual fans dont really know much about him. You have to follow to sport to know who Canelo is or be Mexican..
You don't think fans in the United States will instantly know who Alvarez is if he beats Mayweather?
