One of the few remaining boxing scholars, Nacho Beristain puts it in his own words.
"As a Mexican I would like to think that Canelo will win because it will be a historic triumphant. It will be something very valuable for Mexican boxing but I see it hard. Very difficult...very difficult because Mayweather is super defensive boxer, intelligent, fast, and honestly I don't see where the miracle can happen."
Yes I didn't read it because it was an invalid link lol!! But let me get this straight u're saying in the article, nacho is saying PAC will beat Floyd? But when asked about canelo nacho doesn't believe canelo can? Lol.
Replace the stars with boxing insider, no spaces. That way you don't need to take my word for it.
Nacho thinks Mayweather definitely beats Canelo but definitely loses to Pacquiao. Pacquiao should be by far the biggest target of his 'bitterness' if you're using a bit of brainpower.
Maybe he's speaking his mind?
Forgive me if I miss understood but thought you were saying the line will get better to bet on Canelo, and I disagree! The line will stay the same or become smaller! It's as good as it gets right now to bet on Canelo, that line is not going up! That's my opinion, the next few days will tell the tale! Why would the book give Canelo betters better odds if they are already gonna lay the money down at two to one? It's still gambling and still boxing where anything can happen? Why risk it
Nah, man. I was saying that if you want to bet on Mayweather, to wait until the Canelo fans hit Vegas. Because they will bet Canelo hard, and that will make the odds on Mayweather better (while making the odds on Canelo worse).
Typically, if you want to bet the favorite in boxing, wait until closer to the day of the fight. If you want to bet the underdog, bet it early.
So, we agree. :)
You basically just said the same thing I did.

I think Nacho is absolutely right. I really dont see Canelo winning. I rewatched Canelo-Trout yesterday and I am not impressed at all by Canelo. Mayweather is no Trout. I think it will be a wide UD for May. Especially with that catchweight. How will Canelo make 152? He looks huge. Anyways wide UD for May thats for sure.
Don't be too harsh! They are both a little right and a little wrong! The line shows the book is hedging its bet right now. If they were sure. really really sure of a Mayweather win they could easily be 3:1, 2.5:1, because that would give Mexican fans and guys that love to bet the underdog even more incentive to fill the book with cash! 2:1 keeps the gamblers in but doesn't kill you if Mayweather loses! Mayweather supporters are gonna lay large money bets, while most Canelo betters are gonna place smaller bets. Keeping the house safe even if Floyd loses. the book worries alot about the upset, believe me. So the odds stay close on the off chance that Canelo pulls the upset, becasue the book would take a bath! So 2:1 is a safe bet and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets even closer as the fight nears! Think about the Donaire-Rigo line! I know a few guys that made out like fat rats betting in Rigo, not because they even know boxing but because they saw the line and just bet the underdog. Lucky for the book Rigo has no fan base, or that would have been a nightmare. Imagine that line in this fight and what would happen if Canelo won?
You basically just said the same thing I did.
Did you miss the article i linked where he said Pacquiao "definitely" beats Mayweather?
I guess you did.

Nacho is right
names alone are selling this fight, not competitive merit
Alvarez can't do anything but get lucky in this fight
Floyd would have to fuck up or fight stupid to telegraph a shot
he almost never does that, so Alvarez is screwed
You might want to get a little educated yourself, before commenting.
People are going to unload cash on Mayweather, but they're not going to do so until the Mexicans hit Vegas and unload on Canelo.
Just holding out for a better line. 100% standard if you're looking to bet on the favorite in a boxing match.
Apparently he's not the only one that knows nothing about a sports book.

Both Ward and Beristain saying they can't conceive of Canelo winning and I have to agree. 75% of what Floyd does is survive. The other 25% he's surgically deconstructing his opponent mentally and physically. That leaves very little for the other guy (Canelo). Hope I'm wrong...
That has everything to do with fans finally realizing that these guys that are suppose to be threats to Floyd are just guys who are gonna get dominated on fight night.
I run into so many fans in real life who say "I really don't like Floyd, but I have lost money too many times betting against him".
Those Mexican fight fans know the deal. How many times has he fought on Mexican holidays, against Mexican fighters (or fighters of Mexican descent) who were percieved as threats...only to look foolish come fight.
You sir, took the words right out of my mouth. Most of these fans are just like my moms, bet against Floyd because they hate the person. You have to remove the emotion.
Son do you know anything about sports book? Odds like this, everyone should be unloading all their cash if they think mayweather is invincible. Clearly, lots of people betting don't think so, thus the lines are so close. Go get educated before you make retarded comments.

What I was thinking too. I notice that when its another Mexican going up against Floyd but if its not Marquez or any of nacho's fighter and when asked about it, Marquez and nacho always favor Floyd. But when it's Marquez going up against someone else all the Mexican fighters always favor him when asked.

Is it me, or do Beristein and Marquez come off as bitter all the time?

it could happen if canelo uses memo and his peds the way marquez did in order to finally beat pacquiao.

I think its you .
Without actually talking to them to see their expression and demeanor how can one come away with anything , because its your interpretation of typed words , and on top of that with a kind of broken English is easy to distort its meaning .
In other words you guys read too much into things creating stuff that's not there , if you ever dealt with media they just throw questions at you and then go of and write it with their slant on it , often adding flavor and innuendos that wasn't even in the conversation .

Floyd is the favorite that's fair enough but I don't see how a canelo win would be a miracle. It his way of increasing marquez's greatness ... by saying mayweather is just so so good it makes his dominant display against Marquez a sort of ... well yeah he lost but it was to floyd...
if canelo was to pull off the upset Beristan will look pretty bad
