It's all about the money yes.
But most of these second, third tier fighters usually will fight for peanuts when they feel it a winnable circumstance.
Then comes in Rigondeaux. They are definitely not breaking the bank fighting him but in their cowardly little hearts, they know they're not going to win.
All hail El Chacal.
"El Chacal" is great. What else can be said about him that hasn't already been said? I'm, just disappointed that he's not fighting as often as he should, and his biological clock is definitely ticking. Tonight I watched an old (by boxing standards) Rafael Marquez, lose to a kid that couldn't carry his jock in Rafa's prime. Some day, not too long from now, that will be Rigo. Any true fan of boxing must lament that fate.
i agree my friend, sad situation
I'm glad you didn't take it to heart the way I did. I honestly felt, before the fight, that Rigo was the flagship of Cuban boxing, even while everyone else was swinging off Yuri's nuts. The Cordoba fight shook me. I reconsidered my thinking. It made no sense to me. After a couple of more fights, I came to the conclusion that Guille was just suffering from the transition of amateur to pro. I saw all I needed to see with the Donaire fight. "El Chacal" is as real as I always thought he was. Even now, he's probably the fifth or sixth Cuban pro of all time. Nice work for twelve professional fights.
I don't know man, maybe I was still high off the Cordoba vs Bernard Dunne fight and felt Cordoba to be a extremely dangerous for Rigo.
My beef was with those around me that night. All sugary for the Pac - Marg fight thinking they were going to see a slug fest between Rigo-Cordoba.
The Cordoba fight could have been better. I've never scrutinized Rigo much and not because it turned out to be a 'snooze fest' but because people expected more out of it given the main card it was headlining.

I pray that it be so.
I watched Rigo as an amateur and wished he could go pro some day. That wish came true. My next hope was that he could be young enough to show his true potential. That, too, came true. Is it asking for too much that Guille fight great into his late thirties, possibly early forties? I sincerely hope not.
I knew this man was an amazing talent years ago. My confidence was admittedly shaken with that Cordoba nonsense (it was just embarrassing), but he came through and proved he was everything I always thought he was. Three or four good fights against worthy opposition is all really all I need to be happy with his career.

Yup, rafa was at one point even held in higher regard than his older bro.
JMM is still performing at a high level. Hopefully this will be the case for Rigo.

I think donaire wants a rematch but he's gotta get a couple of wins under his belt. I'm actually pretty high on both Donaire and Rigondeaux. I don't think its a foregone conclusion that Rigondeaux wins the rematch
That's fine. Donaire being Fighter of the Year 2012 needs to find additional confidence in those couple of wins.

Very much so bs. You would think Donaire would want that immediate rematch. Followed by his 100 excuses on why he lost, Nonito finally decides it's time to rematch Darchinyan.
Darchinyan being another 'big' name not wanting any part of Rigo.

what is happening to him is such bull****. Rigondeaux can go into any era of boxing and hold his own. There aren't many fighters that I would say that about. I just can't believe after his biggest win they are freezing him out.
