I see some posters saying that one win on a fighters resume is better then anothers

Some people put Rigondeaux on their PFP list solely for beating Donaire. It's just how some people see it. I'm not a huge Rigo fan, but I'm ok with him being on the P4P list for beating Donaire. Donaire was a top 5 (arguably top 3) P4P guy before their fight. I wouldn't say that that one win trumps the entire resume of Mares, Wlad, Froch etc, but P4P lists aren't based solely on resume. If they were, Roy Jones would still be on them (he hasn't officially retired yet, has he?). P4P is a combination of resume and current ability, and if you can beat a guy like Donaire, your current ability is good enough for you to be on the list, even if you have no other great wins.

I hear some of them say Mannys win over Barerra is better then anything on Floyds resume so he ranks higher,ok So does Torrecampo rank higher then Manny? does Juan rank higher then Manny? Does Bradley now rank higher then Manny?because their wins over Manny is better then anything on Mannys resume I think you know the deal with some Manny fans. The same posters that argue this will tell you Margs was better than Baldo yet Baldo's win over Zab was (at the time) better than any Marg win. See this theory only works when trying to make a case for Manny ahead of floyd, JMM, RJJ, Bhop. Attepmting to apply it in any other circumstance or applying it TO Manny is invalid. So no, If you beat Manny it doesn't make you better than him. It means you used ped's, or stepped on his foot, or he was weak from blood being drawn. Understand?

The argument works in some cases. With Buster Douglas and others we have the benefit of hindsight and we can see that those fighters were just one shot wonders. If your comparing two ATG's, both with pretty even resumes and pretty even skill wise I think its perfectly legit. In an argument between Roy Jones vs. Bernard Hopkins you can say "Roy's win over a prime James Toney is better than anything on Hopkins resume" In an argument between Guillermo Rigondeaux and Abner Mares you can say "Rigo's win over Donaire is better than anything on Mares' resume" In an argument between Larry Holmes vs. Buster Douglas that argument won't work. You just have to use common sense.

So i guess Max Smelling ranks higher then any current fighter for his win over Joe Louis

Larryx if you are a poster who is arguing manny is the best-than this arguement is ok. In any other cirumstance its pure bullsh1t. One must not forget that his wins are even better regardless if he faces someone off a loss or even after a certain fighter beats them first

It doesn't mean anything. Ruben Carter's win over Emile Griffith is better and more impressive than any win on Mayweather, Hopkins, Roy Jones, Pacquaio, Holyfield etc etc etc What does that mean? Nothing. I would also say in response to your opening post that Whitakers wins over Chavez and Nelson are much better than Oscar's win over Whitaker.

Entire resume,can this be true? Fraziers win over Ali is better then any win Ali had..does Frazier rank higher?
