Even with that all being true...Lara has chin and heart issues in my mind. He needs to beat a top 7-8 guy to solidify himself IMO. I personally think that Trout has the hand and foot speed over Lara, has fought better fighters, and has a way better beard. I thought that he lost to Vanes and Molina. :boxing::boxing::boxing:
Lara was winning vs Vanes and the draw was fair vs Molina IMO.
That's his personality, he's never one to complain or make excuses. I'm just telling you how I scored the fight, and what I saw was a highly competitive fight with many close rounds. You can agree or disagree with my opinion, but that is how I saw the fight.
Yeah, I had Canelo winning by 2 points. It was close though as Trout is 3rd best at 154 in the world.:boxing::boxing::boxing:
Trout would not 'easily whoop' Lara, Erislandy is a faster, stronger, more technical version of Trout. Lara has a better jab, much stronger overhand left, is a lot faster on his feet, and he is also much more technically sound w/a highly reputed amateur career. Trout's only advantages would lie in size and output. Lara would beat him to the punch and win a clear decision though it would definitely be competitive.

Biggest misconception going into the fight was people think because Trout was black he would outslick Canelo because he's Mexican. When in fact Canelo is and was more athletic than Trout. I had Canelo winning 114-113 because of the KD.
He beat Trout. There's almost no way you can score that fight for Trout, unless you score for missed jabs.
The open scoring clearly affected the fight, there is no way Canelo won the first 4 rounds in a row and, if i remember, 6 out of 8 on 2 scorecards. But regardless:
Official Scores...
Unanimous for Alvarez - 118-109 (Stanley Christodoulou), 116-111 (Oren Shellenberger -gave most of the late rounds to Trout) and 115-112 (Rey Danseco).
Showtime Scores...
114-114 (Bernstein), 114-113 Alvarez (Farhood) and 115-114 Alvarez (Malignaggi).
Other notable scores (I only list the ones in Trout's favor, but the split was almost 50-50)
Cliff Rold (Boxing Scene): 116-111 Trout
Brian Campbell (ESPN): 115-112 Trout
Ryan Maquinana (Boxing Scene): 114-113 Trout
Steve Lillis (BoxNation): 115-114 Trout
Raymond Markarian (The Sweet Science): 115-112 Trout
Stephen Smith (British fighter): 115-114 Trout
That's to say, it was a close fight, not a one sided beating as some want to believe.
Trout got over rated on here for some reason after the Cotto fight, before that fight no 1 and i repeat no 1 ever talked about him or mentioned him.The Canelo fight was good and a very close fight but i told everyone before the fight Canelo would win..now the same people who were calling Canelo green and a hype job before that fight are saying he will ko Floyd..thats how things work on here
Larry pick a White fighter? Now there is a LAUGH!
Trout fought like a pu$$y against Canelo to be honest. He was very tentative and slapped a lot. If not for the knockdown I had trout potentially winning the fight btw due to Canelo's inactivity. Boring fight but the ginger deserves credit for the victory.
trout isn't anything special. he's a decent yet equally flawed fighter who was overrated as f*ck around here after the cotto victory. it was a good step up fight for alvarez, meaning that for the first time, ever, he was finally fighting a real junior middleweight. neither fighter looked spectactical in that fight and many even say alvarez lost it.
Just rewatched this fight and nobody got schooled. But from what I saw Canelo does not have what it takes to beat Mayweather unless his footwork is massively improved. Looked into my crystal ball and I saw him getting potshotted over 12 by Mayweather.
While I had Canelo as a slight favorite going into that fight, I knew that BOTH fighters had lots of questions that needed to be answered.
Canelo won a close fight. The open scoring didn't help Trout. Once he knew that he was losing badly on the score cards, he fought more aggressively than he had planned for.
After that fight, it didn't have me saying that Canelo is ready for Floyd and that is the bottom line. Canelo needed to fix his issues and gain some more experience.
90% o fthe posters were expecting trout to school canelo, and after the ifght this is why we still have some bitter ones that think trout deserved to winThat's not what the poll on this site said.
Austin is an excellent fighter and even he said that he lost.:boxing::boxing::boxing:

My pick was Canelo in UD 12 in very good fight. Trout is no joke. All the Canelo-haters need to relax and appreciate just how good this kid really is. Trout is 3rd best 154 lber in the world by far.
Did you all see the Cotto and Canelo fights ?
I would love to see Trout man-handle Lara.Write it down,Trout easily whoops Lara.:boxing::boxing::boxing:

Yes, Trout out-landed Canelo by a wide margin, that is not to say Canelo didn't land at a higher percentage. You have to keep in mind Trout was averaging nearly twice as many punches thrown per round than Canelo. Canelo landed the cleaner shots but Trout clearly landed more punches than Canelo by a wide margin. If you don't believe it that's your problem.

Who are you kidding? Damn near everyone was picking Trout to win. Only the die hard Canelo fans were picking him. Most non partisan posters were saying Trout.

The knock down occurred right at the beginning of the round, Trout stood within a safe distance, he wasn't being aggressive. Out landed by a wide margin? I'm sorry but there is absolutely no way that happened. Again, there was no substance in Trout's work, while Canelo may have thrown few he at the very least kept a consistent defense.

I didn't even see Canelo fighting Trout that night. I swear I was watching prime Sweet Pea against Trout. Canelito took Trout back to school, end of story.

He actually landed around 20% more or less and Canelo didn't do much better. Trout visibly out-threw and out-landed Canelo by a wide margin. The open scoring forced Trout into an aggressive style after the open scoring after the fourth round inexplicably had him 4-0 down on two cards (3-1 on the other). A more aggressive style led to the knockdown in the 6th round. In the end it was a very close fight and certainly nothing close to the dominant win some Mexican (and Floyd fans) would have us believe. I actually scored it 114-113 for Trout while scoring it live. I scored it the same on my second viewing with several close rounds.
