I find it hilarious that people here remember Roy for what he did in the last few years compared to what he was in his prime. GGG compared to Roy is just completely crazy at this point.
You need to be reminded of roys greatness if you voted for GGG.
, because "y'all must of forgot!"

Roy's style wouldn't work, he was the first ambush style fighter
No.
Roy never was a good fighter on the ropes, look at his first fight with Tarver.
Roy was never the same after he went back down from HW to LHW and damaged his body by losing lean muscle mass.
Roy couldn't brawl against a come forward fighter that put him on the ropes.

GGG stops him.
Roy's style wouldn't work, he was the first ambush style fighter and thats a style that has played out. Golovkin's execution style is the kryptonite. Roy never was a good fighter on the ropes, look at his first fight with Tarver. Tarver figured out Roy and after that everyone had a bluerint to beat Roy.
People think Roy got old overnight, thats not true, Roy got figured out and then he lost all his confidence.Tarver studied Roy, saw he was ambushing everyone and saw that Roy couldn't brawl against a come forward fighter that put him on the ropes. The second fight, Tarver destroyed Roy. Glen Johnson destroyed Roy by coming forward.
Nobody could outbox Roy, but if they had the stamina and chin to step on the gas and push on Roy, then they could have a chance. Roy was fast and he knew how people would react, but he was not the best inside fighter boxing has ever seen.
Well I agree that it would be entertaining, 2 guys that fight with their hands down and both LOVE to taunt.
But people in the poll seemed to think it was a mismatch, most had Roy by a KO within 3-5 rounds.
SMH :sad2:
A more interesting topic would be the 1993 version of Hopkins vs GGG. Simply because that version of Hopkins is light years ahead of anyone GGG has faced thus far
Nobody easily beats Golovkin. He's 27-0 with 24 KOs and 345-5 in the amateurs - with no steroids.
This thread is too early though, give it a year.
Roy makes fighters like GGG look like Nobodies... if Roy thought this guy while they were both 24 and 0 back in the 90's GGG he would be classed as a bum by now like all Roys other great wins
:lol1:
I like GGG but if they ever fought Roy would easily beat him.

:pat::pat:
I can see you have no eye for talent or abilities.
