I respect Oscar De La Hoya as a former champion, while admitting his style was never a fave of mine. However, I've gotten to where he's pretty hard for me to take as a promoter. No intergrity! (I know, I know ... what do I expect from a promoter?) He's already told us that we are to expect Mayweather/Alvarez to be "the greatest fight in the history of the sport" (no exaggeration there!!). Now more recently we've learned that Canelo is the "biggest star in boxing", and that Floyd needs to understand that Oscar's fighter is going to "kick Floyd's -- " (I don't swear). I don't take much of what he says seriously anymore. I think you can generate interest in a fight without losing all credibility.
Par for the course, I guess -- but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
I think you need a better handle on the english language. Obviously an area you need to work on.
That's English language, actually. Adjectives of nationality and languages are always capitalized, without exception. (I have taught Language Arts for years, by the way.)
And as far as the definition of "shill", here you go from Merriam-Webster: shill - "one who makes a sales pitch or serves as a promoter"
I sure do, if by that you mean a brand of promoting that doesn't make a mockery of truth. :)
It's not a mockery, it's called selling a fight which I see you still don't get. It's like a baker telling you his cake is the best in ______________ (insert city or town here).
Few people take Oscar seriously anymore. He picked Ortiz, Marquez and Guerrero to beat Mayweather when he did not really believe they would win. Golden Boy put together a great card and I think it will break some records. I almost forgot that Oscar picked Mosley to beat Floyd as well.
Hes big on hyperbole
^^ Yes. And b/c it's all excused in the name of "promotion", it's probably the kind of baloney we'll be served for some time. I think it mildly insults savvy boxing fans, personally (but no doubt hooks naive ones).
If u did a poll I think more ppl like Canelo then Floyd. The ppl were loving him at the press tour. Floyd looked a lil jelly.
I Lol at how pissed he got when Oscar announced canelo as the biggest star in boxing right now. Floyd spent the next 5 minutes arguing how he isn't. Why is he so insecure.

The fact you don't like it shows you don't get promotion.
Also, shouldn't you be happy with what Golden Boy is doing in boxing right now? Remember all the fights that would never be made like Garcia vs Mathysse and Mayweather vs Canelo, yet they are on the same card?
Seems like you want your cake and eat it too.....
