if you go to 6 minutes 30 onwards, do you agree with his assessment? How did you score it regardless of the ko?
...UH...WHAT?
Dude you got your ass kicked and was ready to quit after the first Knockdown
SHUT UP CLEVERLY! This is Boxing either you won or you lost!
I haven't watched it again, but he jumped in with his arms up like he was waving it off, before the bell rang. I fully admit I may be remembering it incorrectly.
O'Connor is an moronic bum of a ref, he's always flailing his arms about like a homo. Stopping it was probably in his mind but the round was about to end and I believe he was just trying to get between the fighters to break them at the bell because he'd already been too slow to get between them when Cleverly had been hit on the canvas.
I don't think people would've been too happy if he'd stopped it at that point - basically on the bell. He'd have probably never worked again.....which would be a good thing :lol1:
He is right....he knows Frank's paid off judges and ref were doing everything they can to help him along.
Frank assured him a points win so long as he see's the final bell.
No I'm not. How did he stop the fight? The referee stops the fight when he waves it off. O'Connor was jumping in to separate the fighters because it was the end of the round. Cleverly had already been hit whilst he was down twice and the ref was too slow to jump in then.

Dirk, you are being genuinely disingenuous now. I'm not someone you need to be like that to.
I suggest we leave it there.

tbh I really don't think a ref who is protecting his fighter by carrying him and restarting a stopped fight for him can be deliberately ignoring illegal blows, not unless they are VERY sly and quick thinking as well as corrupt.
He didn't stop the fight. He was stepping in to break them up because the bell was about to go. Kovalev had already hit Cleverly twice when he was down so he probably would've kept punching after the bell.
really? How? I think Cleverly was winning the first few rounds and catching Kovalev with some shots. Yes, then the fight was over, but to say Kovalev won every round is interesting to me because he barely touched Cleverly in the first 2 rounds.
Not sure if serious?
Kovalev landed a lot more by virtue of being more active, as Clev was obviously weary of his power and reluctant to throw; sure, Clev got through with a shot now and then, but Kovalev got through with more.
Cleverly was clearly bothered against the ropes in the second, so I don't agree with suggestions that Kovalev landed nothing significant or barely touched Clev before the third.
Any score aside from 10-9 Kovalev for each of the first two rounds is poor.
He did notice it since it was right in front of him and ran to stop Kovalev. He could've DQ'd Sergey had he wanted to, technically he should have and Cleverly should still have the belt, but he didn't.
Maybe if Clev had pulled some b1tch sh1t like Dirrell v Abraham or Hopkins v Dawson...Yes, true, he might well have noticed, and I wasn't defining not noticing as a complete be all as you may have guessed, but my point being that there is a difference between active cheating and mistakes through inaction/passivity.
not reacting to something can be incompetence and can be cheating too in a sly, look-the-other way - deliberate action (stopping and starting a fight, carrying a fighter to the corner) is also incompetence of course but its clear intentional cheating too.

It was the judges you were criticising, now you want to make it about the ref? At least keep it consistent with your own posts.
Yeah right, pull the other one.
Cortez for FMJ v Hatton - lol yeah that reffing was fair...in lala land
Smoger for Froch-Ward - Smoger favours the inside fighter, we both know that's Ward
Cotton for Fury v Cunningham - Fury wasn't allowed to fight inside all night, he even complained about it after the fight.
If you want neutral views on Cotton, check the first post: http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125886
Not to mention how Cortez babied Hopkins through the Calzaghe fight allowing him to take two separate 5 minute breaks even though a foul hadn't been committed and allowing him to hold Calzaghe all night despite breaking up Hatton every time he got close to Mayweather
At least the judges do their dirt behind the scenes.

Hatton and Froch have all been treated 100% fairly when coming to the US. Fury was allowed to maul Cunningham in the US without the ref butting in.

Do you want to go into Joe Cooper in Khan v Peterson (ref or judges?).
No he didn't you moron. Go back and watch the fight then come back and admit what an idiot you are.
Dirrell had been warned for holding but the referee specifically took a point from Dirrell for leaning on Froch which he had never been warned for, and it was a joke of a time to take the point when there were plenty of other occasions he could have done it legitimately.
In that case he was just like "ahh, f*ck this American guy I'm taking a point off for whatever he does next regardless of what it is."
Not even mentioning the judges were disgraceful. Dirrell fought like a punk but Froch landed about 6 punches the entire night and there is no way that wins a fight.
Go to 49.00 you lying bald bell-end. You clearly see the referee motion that he was deducting a point for holding.
Dirrell got a point taken away for excessive holding which he'd been warned about several times you pathetic bald twat.

Cleverly's right! Kovalev just landed a lot of lucky punches. He had Kovalev reeling but then he just kept pounding him with lucky shot, after lucky shot.
Funny I don't recall anyone Matthysse has knocked down getting assistance to their corner from the referee.
At least the judges do their dirt behind the scenes. If the UK the ref just f*cks the foreign fighter in the @ss for the world to see and you fans give it a thumbs up every time and act like it happens elsewhere when it doesn't.
Between the Scott fight, the Thompson fight where Price was given a 15 second 8 count and this fight you have 3 consecutive occurrences of blatant ref misconduct in high profile fights.
It's as if the bigger the event the more cheating is embraced by British fans.
I noticed you used Matthyse as an example though considering Calzaghe, Hatton and Froch have all been treated 100% fairly when coming to the US. Fury was allowed to maul Cunningham in the US without the ref butting in and green teefing him with point deductions and stupid warnings like Malik Scott got for punching Chisora.
Plenty of other good example too such as Haye being allowed to rabbit punch John Ruiz into submission and Andre Dirrell losing a point for leaning on Froch even though he had never been warned for that specific offense.

America is the worst for corruption from the referees to the judges to the athletes all on performance enhancing drugs

Tell Lucas Matthysse what it's like trying to win a decision against a US opponent in the States.
