If the fighter is trying to get up, why not count him out or wait till he gets up and decide if he can continue?
Pisses me off when I see stoppages like Jacobs-Pirog fight and now mares fight where the referee stopped counting and held the fighter down.
Fighters train so hard not to deserve a ten count.
In some cases they feel its appropriate to get the fighter medical attention immediately?
You could hear the ref tell Mares his eyes were rolled back in his head.
Let the refs do their job. They are trained professionals and are taught what to look for.
In cases where you were put to sleep then yes..but if the fighter has the strength to at least attempt get up, why stop counting? its only 10 seconds.

Ok, finish the 8 count, and if they don't pass the test (do u wanna continue, step toward me, etc) then u stop the fight... That's why they do that... Don't "1, 2, aww fuck it, counting is too hard" that's dumb

It's there for when referees know the full 10 seconds won't make a difference... It's pretty clear to see that in that Mares fight. You don't let Mares continue in that state, after taking huge bombs, landing awkwardly on his right leg, against a massive puncher in Gonzales. Sorry but whatever agenda these people have, who argue the ref did a bad job seemingly do not understand what a referee is there for.
RIGHT??? There should be a rule against that... If u start the count, (unless the guy is asleep e.g. Pacquiao/Williams/Hatton) u finish the count
It's fucking dumb
It's not like they can teleport him to the hospital in 10 seconds
Moving and falling over so soon after having their brains crash into their skulls can cause more damage.
