The critics suspect stamina issues and say he fights in bursts.
But in his fights against Hatton and Rhodes, he was able to let off around 650 shots in each respective fight.
Now Cotto only threw just over 500 shots against Mayweather...
And Castillo threw 506 in their first fight...
I think Canelo boxed a calculated fight against Trout, and perhaps because of Trouts style, and the open scoring him coast...
I think if Canelo can get off 500-600 punches off, he could give Mayweather a very good fight. Don't forget, he has decent power, speed and accuracy...
Is Canelo's inactivity exaggerated?
I think his stamina problems are exaggerated but his stamina is certainly not great. I don't think it is a major weakness though, although it is far from ideal when fighting Mayweather. He needs to throw as much as he can possibly throw against Mayweather.
This is a no-brainer .... Canelo definitely has stamina issues. You don't need to look at the stats .... just look at the Trout fight.
Example: Canelo knocks down Trout but without even doing much else in that round, he is gassed. Except for a few more solid punches by Canelo, Trout won the rest of that round.
I can't remember that fight too well
But I had that exact impression of him against Trout
do you know how many punches floyd landed on mosley??
almost half...
Truth is Canelo is a solid fighter who is fighting in a weight class under where he should be,His stamina issues have to do with the amount of weight he has to cut and the fact that he throws all his punches with full force,he doesnt vary between the fast ball and the knuckle ball.
Hasn't stopped him winning and nobody has come home over the top of him in the home run , Canelo is a deceiving stalker that is very patient and has real good boxing skills , no wonder GGG says he is the best fighter he has been in with , 20lb advantage over Floyd is a nice advantage to have in a snappy fast puncher like Canelo .
There is a difference between a weight advantage where the guy looks in great shape, has a high work-rate and shows no stamina issues compared to what we all saw versus Trout. Versus Trout, in many rounds Canelo fought for 30 seconds of the round.
Another guy was Rios who used to fight weight drained at 135 and win but it showed that he wasn't all there at that weight and nearly cost him a few fights.
Floyd's camp has already come forward saying that "we are aware of many weaknesses that Canelo has and Floyd is going to take advantage of them" ..... if you are well aware of so many weaknesses then why the CW?
you are wrong .... for one, just look at Canelo's previous fight to prove that you are wrong. Canelo had stamina issues and was 22 yrs old!

No, it's not.
The fact that you try to play it off as a myth while simultaneously employing the use of compubox numbers (which are typically only utilized by n00bs and morons) against opponents of questionable quality (where he'll look better) is a testament to the fact that you don't know WTF you're talking about.
Besides, you're looking at (probably erroneous) numbers over the course of an entire fight wherein Canelo is always active as hell early and most likely puts up the largest portion of his numbers within the first six rounds. If you want this to be a conversation purely based on numbers then you should watch the last 6 rounds of his last 3-4 fights and then crunch those numbers to come up with the averages thrown and landed.
That would make for a far more interesting conversation than this.
Im sure him being ONLY 22 yrs old is not as hard to cut weight, then compared to a 30 yr old lol. Hahah quit it with the stamina issues

The first 2 to 3 rounds I thought Canelo looked completely out classed against Trout. Winging hard shots from the outside, missing badly, and not cutting off the ring. If he looks out classed early against Floyd we might as well call it a day. You spot Floyd 3 rounds and it's over.
I think if Mayweather is able to that, Canelo will have little or no chance. But providing he doesn't come in dried up against catchweight King May, I have a feeling he will bring it. I expect a close decision. A controversial one, at that.
I did not know Canelo was fighting Pacquiao.
In the Trout fight he took entire rounds where he just stood there and held his guard up...did jack sh1t..his stamina is a huge issue, why?because he has to loose so much to make 154,he is not a small guy and the older he gets the harder it will be to make 154

IF weight doesn't matter, I'm not sure why Floyd sucked him down to 152?
The same Floyd who said he wanted Cotto to be at his comfortable weight at 154?
Bit of hypocrisy there
And the real reason behind this thread comes out. If you can't see that Canelo has stamina issues watching him fight than I don't know what to tell you. The Trout fight like someone mentioned already he would take rounds off and than throw two to three hard punches to try and steal the round. Once he starts getting countered by Floyd and seeing it is difficult to get inside he will throw even less.
IF weight doesn't matter, I'm not sure why Floyd sucked him down to 152?
The same Floyd who said he wanted Cotto to be at his comfortable weight at 154?

He came into the Trout fight weighing 153. He should be fine at 152, plus the fact that he may gain 15lbs over night. If there were a clause saying that he couldn't be over 154 on fight night, then I would say Mayweather was wrong. Canelo has the size advantage no matter how you look at it.
Weight does not even matter, skills will tell the story, and the fact Canelo has to set his feet to get off will be his down fall

It's a lot easier to get your shots off against Matthew Hatton and Ryan Rhodes, even if he does have that stamina in him, Floyd just cuts your work rate with his defense and movement.
I agree. And again., I was not implying a compariso in styles
