He'll make easy work out of Kovalev.
Yes, Sergey looked very impressive yesterday....against Cleverly (who?). Hopkins must have been licking his chops watching another come forward banger have everybody in awe of his immense "power". If grandpa Bernard has anything left, he puts up another schooling for the books.
Hopkins is too old to fuck with Kovalev
he has a right to pick his fights, and he should avoid Kovalev
woulda liked to see him retire after the Cloud win
1 more win, 1 more belt, and that's all he needed
Hopkins doesn't have the legs to stay away from Kovalev's power
beating Cloud isn't the foil to show he can take Kovalev
Hopkins would get beat up in this fight if it happened
One of the best move Hopkins could have ever made was partnership with Golden Boy. The Trinidad win didn't do much for Hopkins because he decided to box Trinidad instead of engage him and then he refused a rematch with Trinidad. But he's done great, has fought the right opponets.
Then ur not thinking very hard. Shuminov? Danny Green? Jesus Bibiano? Valuev?
The moment he landed on Mack he went down obviously Mack was boxing and staying away until he got hit clean and it was over. Hurting Glen Johnson is all the proof you need no one hurts Johnson.
He's at bad as all of those fighters if not worse.
Who is Jesus Bibiano and what title did he hold?
:lol1: Bullsh*t. He was landing on Mack, he was struggling with Mack which is hilarious and a testamant to how terrible he is but he was landing and he wasn't hurting him because he simply does not punch very hard.
He has decent power at very best, he landed a good shot on Johnson, more of a one off to be honest. He's never hurt anyone else on the top level.
Took him 8 rounds to get Yusuf Mack out of there :lol1:
And Johnson isn't as difficult to buzz in his later years.
Look Hopkins is one of favorites, a prime Hopkins was as fun to watch as any other fighter but I think people have too much faith in him. His workrate against Cloud was horrible despite his dominance, I can't see him winning this at this stage, I really can't. People are still underrating Kovalev......
Agreed on all points, Kov is a real power puncher add his handspeed and he has REAL chance of hurting Hopkins, something which has never really happened in his entire career.
Yes Hopkins beat Cloud but Cloud is slow and plodding and Hopkins wasn't all that convincing, people are forgetting that Hopkins is on his very last legs, any of his next fights against legit opponents may be his last.
You're tellimg me K9 is better lol @ that. Yes he does throw crisp hard shots and if he has no power how did he hurt Glen Johnson who almost never gets hurt? Riddle me that batman. The dude obviously has heavy hands. KO artist, no, but he hurts people without question. Like I said one dimensional. He cannot beat skilled boxers.
K9 is awful but he is certainly better than Cloud. Like I said, I can't think of a Champion in recent history who is worse.
Ok, Cloud might have George Groves power :lol1: Infact no, he doesn't.
If you're a hard puncher, it doesn't take you 8 rounds to knock out Yusuf Mack. It's really that simple. Cloud's not a hard puncher. He's done nothing to suggest it outside of stunning Glen Johnson.
Has Cloud hurt any top fighter other than momentarily with Johnson? I don't think he has.
Cloud not only can't beat skilled boxers he can't beat anyone in general who is good because he's that bad.
He might beat Stevenson, that should be good. They should label that fight "The fight to crown the worst Lineal Champion since Baldomir".
Don't be silly. Terrible is Peter Manfredo and the likes. Cloud is a tough fighter, excellent chin, good power, good jab when he uses it etc. One dimensional is the perfect way to desrcibe him. Any type of movement and he'll struggle. But terrible? No way. He's fundamentals are good, he throws crisp accurate shots. He's not some sloppy idiot. He just only knows how to fight one way and doesn't know how to deal with movement i.e one dimensional.
I'm talking "Champions". Cloud is terrible.
I am struggling very badly to think of a worse Champion in recent memory than Cloud that includes Baldomir, Richie Woodhall, K9 Bundrage, etc.
Cloud doesn't have good power. He is not a hard puncher unless he's fighting a complete bum and even when he does fight a complete bum with average-terrible chins like Campillo (Not a bum) and Mack he doesn't even squash them. That's not a hard puncher.
:lol1: @ his jab.
:lol1: @ decribing Cloud as accurate and crisp.
Cloud is none of these things. He's one of the most limited fighters in the sport, he can't cut off the ring, he's slow, he doesn't punch very hard, he's engine isn't great. Has no inside game what so ever. He follows you around and if you're ok he will struggle and if you're a bum he will fall over and Lord help me if you're good, if you're good you're winning or getting robbed. The only thing he has is a good chin.
He's like a worse version of Jeff Lacy.
Look Hopkins is one of favorites, a prime Hopkins was as fun to watch as any other fighter but I think people have too much faith in him. His workrate against Cloud was horrible despite his dominance, I can't see him winning this at this stage, I really can't. People are still underrating Kovalev......
I think Hopkins would likely clinch the sh1t out of Kovalev for 6 rounds and break his rhythm. I can't see Sergey being able to throw that often and with that power for 12
Cloud is not terrible. One dimensional yes, terrible no. He's got a very good chance at becoming the lineal champ against Stevenson.
Stevenson is terrible aswell.
Cloud is worse though. Cloud is literally terrible.
He's worse than Jeff Lacy.
Labelling him simply "one dimensional" is being unfair to how terrible he actually is.
I'm sorry I like Hopkins but the only way he beats this guy is if the ref lets him hit and hold all nite.
What ref doesn't let Hopkins hit and hold all night?
At this stage in his career, Hopkins stays away from Kov and that's a fact. That's not ducking, Hopkins has nothing left to prove and he knows he has easier pay days in possible rematches or fights with guys like Clev (which may still happen).
Kov has faster hands than people give him credit for and throws very straight punches, a couple of those big shots and Hopkins will go down. I don't see it any other way.
lol I know your whole shtick here is to irrationally hate on Calzaghe (which I admit is very amusing), but Joe Cal would have absolutely outboxed Kovalev.
calzaghe outboxing kovalev? calzaghe was a terrible boxer. he had basically the same style as cleverly. get close and throw a lot of punches and overwhelm his opponents. so light punching calzaghe is going to somehow get and stay into mid range against kovalev and survive? not happening. very early knockout.
It's not even about rooting for Hopkins, it's just looking at it from a stylistic standpoint and realizing that Hopkins schools the one dimensional Kovalev.
We don't know how Kov will react to B-Hop's stick-and-spoil strategy, but I just can't imagine him getting neutralized like Cloud and Pascal.
kovalev isn't some wide joe calzaghe slapping clown who was easily exploited and countered. his workrate is purposeful and accurate. his power is deadly. hopkins cannot win. really the only fighter that can beat kovalev right now is danny mcintosh.
lol I know your whole shtick here is to irrationally hate on Calzaghe (which I admit is very amusing), but Joe Cal would have absolutely outboxed Kovalev.
I find it odd that fans would actually root for B-Hop. He's on his way out and I would hope that an up-and-coming star like Kovalev beats him.

People are already overrating the hell out of Kovalev, I'm not surprised though as we've seen it happen with Bute.
Campillo was a good fighter but he's ALWAYS had a glass chin, and has shown he starts off very slow. Kovalev on the other hand has huge power and starts off fast, tailor made fight for Kovalev.
Cleverly is a C-B level fighter, his whole gameplan was to just stand there infront of Kovalev and let him punch him. 0 head movement, 0 offense other than a weak jab, 0 body movement. That screams amateur lmao.
Both tailor made for Kovalev.
