Its apparent Curtis Stevens goal was to piggy back off Golovkins name but not actually fight him, trying to get the image of a ducked fighter or avoided fighter, but this time Golovkin accepted the challenge and he backed out, his plan backfired, a lot of these type of boxers have made a name calling out name fighters but never getting the fight so they could claim that so and so ducked them.
Stevens = fail
and him showing that money is embarrassing, 300k for a no name is huge, even bigger name guys only get 400k to fight on hbo, this guy is a no name and his biggest purse was probably 20k.
Maybe he will come to his senses soon and take the fight after realizing the deal offered is as good as it gets, who knows its a good opportunity.I don't know if it's the deal is as good as it gets, but I can go with this.
Two possibilities either he is trying to hold out for more money which he won't get because he won't get 300K anywhere else or it was a huge bluff just to get people talking so he can get easier fights for less money. Are these the two reasons that you've come up with? I'll take the first reason as legit more than the latter.
That still doesn't answer why if GGG is a no name Stevens called him out and then rejected a career high payday, tv exposure, and a title opportunity.Don't you have your answer already? He was scared of GG and ducked him right? Stevens even tried to use his name like you said. I don't want to lie to you so I'll wait for Stevens people to come out and tell everyone why they did or didn't take the fight.
So why would he publicly mention a guy no one knows and then shamelessly duck him?I think the word "duck" is being thrown around here too much. I am truly sick of hearing that so many guys are ducking GG, and I mean it. I've seen killers in he ring who have fought killers, and then I have to read that one fighter ducked another.
Boxing knowledge doesn't kick in when it comes to these types of fighters. You guys GG love conquers all. I mean you legally have the right to say the above, but it's more to put a stamp on your comment then mean something in reality to me.
As far as GG-Stevens, Stevens people will let us know if they accept any offer or not.
GG's peoples are about as desperate for a fight as an ignored pot bellied go go dancer looking for a $1.00 bill.
What are you talking about?? Look at all the Golovkin-Stevens discussions going on now on every boxing site and message board. He got people talking about him by saying Golovkins name.No disrespect, and I mean this, but you're not really a boxing fan. I don't talk to liars or guys who I think look at boxing funny.
How do you turn down 300k when you don't even have a name to begin with?
GGG isn't mainstream but his name is a lot bigger than Stevens.
Stevens coming to the negotiation table like he was a star or something.I agree. GG isn't mainstream.

Yes stevens piggybacked off the GGG name,,,
They kept bringing ggg's name up before and after his last fight,,,
And it worked to perfection,,,,, not many people knew who stevens was unless you were around for him and codrington as the heavy hitterz or whatever,,,,,,
I think stevens should take the money and the fight,, but i can see his team trying to make a bidding war between quillen and GGG since they are both in need of opponents..
I doubt they'd start a bidding war over him.
GGG still has Mora and Geale if he wins

We need to stop jumping to conclusions and acting like we are mind readers. Apparently Danny Garcia is still ducking Matthysse even though the fight is set.
Those 2 situations would be more comparable if Danny Garcia had tweeted pictures of him with his belts with the words, "I have belts," and talked about not caring about fighting Matthysse.

K2 promotions were the ones that sent the 300k offer.
Yea, in that position, a 300k offer is more than he's worth and he's nuts if he thinks he's getting more.
If Stevens thinks he deserves more and team GG doesn't offer it to him, thats not GG ducking Stevens. But team Stevens should take what the final offer is - or dream about the day they had a chance to fight for a title which may or may not come again. Stevens can be outboxed and GG would want to employ that strategy because standing and trading gives Stevens his only shot. But it would be a war. Mora can't outbox or overpower GG and Stevens has at least one angle to win from, even if it is a small one. Another guy with a similar last name had little to no chance according to guys on this site with Dawson and we saw how that went. Anything can happen in Boxing.
Maybe team Stevens will realize he's not getting anymore money and accept the offer. Let's give it a couple weeks and see what happens.
What happens if they really do stick to NBC?
The least he can do if he turns the fight down is build his profile on HBO... but Main Events will probably keep him on NBC
Oh, I see what you are saying now. I misread it. I thought that was an official HBO offer to Stevens. I say it's worth about 100-150k to Stevens but I was saying that he should be over the moon excited if he actually got an offer for 300k.

Wait, so GGG just started getting this type of money and Stevens should just out of nowhere get the same because he's going to get beat badly for doing it?
And you're talking about Steven's Stature and Relevance?
