MMA fighters don't stand a chance in a boxing ring and Boxers don't stand a chance in the octagon.
Ray Mercer did beat Tim Sylvia in his first of two MMA fights, though i'm unsure of what condition Sylvia was in.
Obviously this fight won't happen but can you imagine how disgusting it would be? Jones would be hurt terribly; it would be utterly immoral to make that fight.
Lulz Jones can't even get the better of a girl Welterweight like Holm
Yeah, that looked like really serious sparring.
I just want to see 1 UFC fighter in boxing, this is all a publicity stunt just like Rampage and Diaz though. They know they'll get destroyed within 2 rounds though.
A welter weight mma fighter will never beat
A heavyweight. Boxer of any relevance..
Ever ..
Completely wrong. Just look at the video posted later in this thread.
When was the last time Wlad knocked out someone in the 1st round? Let alone the 1st 2 minutes?
Jones is 10x more dangerous than Pineta...... Wlad also got a very very weak chin. Like a 8 year old girl chin. So to me it's a 50/50 fight.. Whoever lands 1st wins.
This is one of the most idiotic posts I've ever seen.
Raphael Butler, a boxer with a weak record; yet in 2010 started a MMa Career and has gone undefeated in 9 fights not one going past the first round. Loses to Arreola, Price and many other top boxing contenders.
Jones words:
Jones said: “If I move into boxing I don’t want to fight Tyson Fury, I only want to fight the biggest names. I didn’t really know who Fury was until I heard that he was calling out Velasquez and so I checked him out after that and he seems like quite the character. I saw a video of when he hit himself with an upper cut during a fight and so that was pretty funny.
“At the moment though I would only be interested in fighting a Klitschko brother if I did move into boxing.”
Funny considering, Dana White has done nothing but claim boxing is dead and any boxer would have to claim the ranks. If Jones where so lucky to get a title fight in his first Boxing Match, it would be.a quick KO and straight back to being the best in MMA.
As a general rule, a welterweight boxer could stop a heavyweight UFC fighter in a boxing match and a welterweight MMA fighter could stop a heavyweight boxer in the cage. They're two different things entirely.
would michael buffer say his UFC record in the ring when he is being announced? because saying "now fighting, for the heavyweight championship in his boxing debut--" is silly
this won't happen. this is not UFC. In UFC, you get a title shot in your 2nd or 3rd fight if you have a big name
Jones has no hands, what so ever.... Wlad would show with ease, that an MMa fighter could not handle the boxing ring! If anyone in MMa could speak, I would say Junior Dos Santos but his skills are average.
Dana White is possibly the biggest hypocrite in the promotional game, claiming boxers can't do MMa (because of Toney), and yet tries to build publicity by having his new star call out the heavyweight champ who just surpassed Holmes.
