yes... looks like they slowed it down in this gif.
thats real time judging by the clock and thats lopez maidana was doing the same thing to him lol
Absolutely. He doesn't have Pac or Floyd handspeed, so people really underrated it. His hands are pretty damn fast. As an above poster said though, his feet aren't exactly the fastest lol, but the head movement that he displayed against Trout helps a lot when he can't move his feet.
he had good head movement but that only worked against trouts sloppy jabbing which was still pretty effective lol all that swaying and shifting canelo was doing made him tired as hell too
Yeah its deceptive but seems like by choice. He'll throw slow plodding jabs at times then throw hard fast, crisp ones out of nowhere. He carries his speed through his combinations when he wants to and though not the fastest footed guy he seems to do fine. He's very poised for a young guy and seems to know his limitations and has been working to make them less of a burden it seems (such as his head movement/defense seemed dramatically improved). Canelo's style lends itself well to guys in his weight range and up as his foot speed isnt as big a burden with whats generally seen at 154 and up but Floyd is a different animal. His feet are still fairly quick, has amazing stamina and handspeed and even if Canelo is able to stay infront of him he still has to cope with Floyd's reflexes and upper body movement at close range. Canelo has shown he's thus far been good with judging distance and staying within range but Floyd is a genius in creating his own space and judging it.
In terms of a bad stylistic matchup Floyd is it for Canelo. The other is Martinez who possesses(possessed) very uncommon hand and foot speed for his class in adittion with a great gas tank and power not to mention counter punching/timing and a high work rate. Stylistically I dont see how anyone could beat Floyd in a low work rate fight...
But size could be a difference but who knows. Mayweather has shown to be quite durable.
Hey, you never know though...we might be dead wrong and it could turn out to be a horrible matchup for Floyd who gets bullied by a stronger fighter and get muscled into the ropes and hammered. Floyd is going tk have to clinch a LOT if Canelo chooses to exploit his size so lets see how the ref treats the fight too.
Dude stop acting like it was may idea to fight Canelo, may was forced to fight Canelo because his ppv numbers were crapy for what show time is paying him
lol come on stf u. If he didnt fight Canelo you would complain that he's ducking and when he's fighting him you complain that he was forced. Thats just pathetic
His gameplan is very crucial to a W. I think he has great speed in his body-head combinations for sure. It really depends how fast/efficiently Canelo can reach Mayweather.
We all know Mayweather was able to fight Corrales at his game, but this is 2013 people and Floyd is now fighting a LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT.
Yep the haters want to blow this off as an easy fight , its not and Floyd is taking a big risk he didn't have to , he should have stayed at 147 and just totally dominated his division , its good to see him challenge himself but he wont get the credit for the challenge if he succeeds , I don't like fighters playing around with weight late in their careers , I can say for sure Canelo wont go up to fight GGG or Martinez and they wont go up and fight Ward , but when its Floyd its expected and there are some big double standards surrounding Floyd .
his hands are fast, very fast for a man his size but handspeed is like horsepower useless unless you have control of it.. zab's hands are faster than floyd. u see how far that **** got him

He does have good handspeed, kind of cement footed though.
this. alvarez has slow feet. his upper body is a bit stiff, too, though he's worked on it.
he's also cautious and he throws few punches. he doesn't have the trappings of a style where speed is the issue. the issue is the power.
his speed certainly won't trouble floyd, even if he's an aging fighter and speed is often what troubles older fighters. mayweather is hardly human when it comes to dealing with both speed and power. it will take a much faster fighter, who throws a lot of punches and fights like a young man, to give floyd issues. alvarez isn't the guy to give mayweather issues with speed. he's got to watch out for the big right handed punches upstairs, and the body work.
alvarez fights like a guy with 40 fights. it's only been in the last two years that he's matured physically and entered his prime.
