Got tickets by pure luck, also VIP pre fight party tickets also. I've never been to anything remotely like this before. Can anybody give me any idea what this will be like? What's the VIP party exactly? I actually won this but I have to pay taxes on it so it's still going to cost me a pretty decent chunk of money and I wonder if it will be worth it.
Turns out it won't be as expensive as I thought. It was estimated originally the value of the entire trip would be $9k and that would be reported to the IRS the same as if I had worked and been paid $9k in income and I'm in the 28% tax bracket (I think). It's such bs... Now everytime I see people on game shows win prizes and trips worth say $30k I always think have fun paying $10k in taxes. But in the end I was told the itemized cost of this trip cost the sponsor $6620 so my taxes will be around $2100 or so. For what I won it was incredibly lucky.
are you sure its 3k? That seems like alot. Are you sure you arent getting mixed up with like a rich person who has to pay almost half there money in taxes? I thought on stuff like this you just pay like 7 or 8 cent on the dollar like if you were buying something from the store
They were great seats! What other fights have you been to there and are other seats farther away still good? I don't think I'd want to pay that much and sit any farther away and I also wonder how good you can see from the floor. I'd love to see Floyd fight again there. Doubt I ever will but the excitement that night was like a drug and I want more.
Don't think I can post pictures on here but I did add an album with a few pics. It only let me add 3 of them. I had one more of the Coronal girls and myself..... Check out my album.
I always use my Iphone and Ipad so it isn't so easy... How the eff, do you put pics on here? Also, right below this it says I "May not" post attachments. Why not? I got some pics, even one with the Corona Girls that were at the VIP party.
Just want to say it wasn't a scam and, although a bit one sided, was the most exciting sporting event I ever went to and this coming from a person who's more a football fan. I've been too a few big football and basketball games but nothing compared to this. Absolutely electric. I was a big boxing fan when I was a kid in the 80's but really haven't been as an adult. This renewed my interest in boxing and I'm playing catchup trying to learn who all the name fighters are now. YouTube sure is great for that. I rooted for Mayweather but I like Canelo. I'm very interested to see who he fights next.
Yes it does but Uncle Sam has to get his share
That's a real shame.
We don't have to do that kind of thing in the UK.
If we win a competition, a Car, or the lottery. We don't have to pay for it.
You won a competiton yet have to pay $3,000 to collect your prize?
:lol1: That just sounds absolutely ridiculous.

don't pay anything man! if you win something you don't have to pay damn taxes on it.
yes, you do. if you win a new car on a game show or something you have to pay income tax on it. or if you won a million dollars in the lottery or some other form of gambling do you think people just keep all of that money?
I'll arrive on Friday but have no idea yet what time but I prob won't make the weigh in. The pre fight party is that night and I'm wondering what that is or who all will be there. Don't know where my seats are but I was told they are "great" seats. The whole package is valued at $9k and I have to pay effing taxe on that... So what, about $3k?
WTF? I hope you are trolling because if not you are about to get scammed.
Like watching two ants scuffle about inside a tiny little square while you listen to a horde of people sitting around you who don't know the first thing about boxing.
lol I usually end up watching the roof screen when it's like that. Considering how expensive the tickets were for this fight, I don't think the Grand will get as loud as it usually does. I think rich people generally don't scream and shout much, but the diehard boxing fans who blow all their savings on that night will be howling at every punch that lands. They will stand straight up and yell every time Canelo appears to land a good shot. That can get annoying, especially when they start punching the air and making suggestions like they're the coach. Really pisses me off.
Its for 2. Rt airfare, hotel, fight and VIP party tickets, and $500. At first I thought $9k ridiculous but face value tickets (for 2) $4k + hotel $1500 + airfare $1k + $500 = $7k so maybe that $9k isn't so ridulous if I get picked up and transferred and that VIP party. As for like watching ants scuffle, that's what I'm afraid of but is the type of info i was looking for when i stared this thread. For the $3k in taxes I'm going to pay it doesn't seem worth it. I could go to Vegas for longer then 2 nigts with gambling money to spare for $3k. Might be more fun watching it closed circuit.

Nailed it there mate
Nobody is asking that I pay anything now. I was just told they will file a form with the IRS saying I won this prize worth $9k and it will go under the line "other income" when I file. Also, it wasn't like some random phone call saying I won this. I'm positive I'm not being scammed.
