disgusting stoppage that I've seen ever since I've been watching boxing.
It is almost as bad as Chavez Taylor. What the hell was the ref even thinking? Matthysse's right eye was just about closed, the left starting to close-disgusting.
It happened in Mexico City I believe. This was truly disturbing to watch. Brace yourselves. You can even go immediately to the stoppage too. Downright disgusting.

We will see the same thing (but Opposite) when Lucas fights Danny. The guys behind the scenes want Danny to win. He is the more lucrative fighter for Golden Buy and Al. It is not rocket science. Lucas already got a taste of it himself before against Devon. I just thought every knew about this stuff!LOLThey want to see if Danny is the goods by testing him-finally. And I do believe that they want Danny to win.
Dean, as usual your wisdom is welcome. Second you know I'm having fun lol. D, they don't know me yet. I have to keep keepin on. Objectivity always comes late but always on time!

Geez everyone is skating around the issue, I will come out and say it.
That fight was stopped the first sign of Harris getting hurt, not to protect Harris, but to protect Matthysse and his eye issue.
This stuff happens all the time when someone is brought in as an opponent and the showcase fighter suffers an injury. We see it all the time. This sport is not much about honesty. It is about oiling the gears.
Matthysse probably would have won anyway as Harris was gassing, but the ref still stole the opportunity from Harris to continue to work on that eye, which is cheap.

No, that would take too much time playing thread detective just answer this is Matty defensively good in your estimation?
Of course, but I don't say that when his bandwagon fans are around.

Worst stoppage ever: Antonio Cervantes (Kid Pambelé) vs. Carlos María Giménez, Jr WW world championship, in Maracaibo, 25th June 1977. Giménez was beating Pambelé up but had a small cut and the ref stopped the fight between rounds. After the stoppage, the Argentinian promoter Tito Lectoure (who owned the Luna Park of Buenos Aires) fights the ref !! It's in black and white, guys, just for hardcore fans. I tried to embed the video starting shortly before the stoppage but it doesn't work. Look at the 15 minutes starting point.
Terrible stoppage, wow!
and yet you talk all of the time about how easy to hit he is?Now I don't doubt what you're saying, but just show me that post to remind myself of what I've been saying.

Nah that Zab left uppercut carries some heat, he took it flush like it was nothing. I would say he has a very durable chin.Durable, lmao. I have not seen him takes shots on the regular for me to say he has a durable chin. Zab connected, but Matthysse smartly rolled with the punch which took some of the power from the punch.
He has a jab, its a range finder for his other punches but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Who is really a banger at 140lbs though? Please don't say Garcia, he has good power at best. LM hasn't shown a bad chin in any of his fights (actually he's taken some pretty good shots) so we cant say he has a bad chin. Also is a guy with power really going to hurt Matthysse more than he hurts them?
Alexander and Judah had the best game plan to fight LM but he beat them up pretty bad at times, and yes they both ran and both spoiled in the second half of their fights. The holding from Alexander was particularly bad.
Decent unpredictable movement in the mold of Mayweather or Rigo would be the best style to counter Matts Imo. Hard counters and quick lead hands to offset LM's offensive rhythm and a hell of a chin to take a shot when he eventually catches you. But it will take fighters of the quality of Mayweather and Rigo to pull it off. The Danny Garcia's of this world are simply not on that level...
Sorry for typos/grammar errors I'm posting from phoneMatthysse has no jab, and that's not a negative. He has no jab. Second, however you want to view the Judah and Devon losses, Matthysse lost. Power is judgemental. Matthysse has power, but he usually breaks you down with more than one punch. Whether you think Danny has power or not, he can punch. He probably hits harder than anyone Matthysse has faced to date. Matthysse's chin to me is still up for questions.
ha why is everyone commiting on this video if anyone had any knowledge of lucas before he started his knock out run you would know that this was lucas first high profile fight and it was very questionable about the ref stopping it
yes lucas took some damage but i believe he has improved massively he sets his punchers up better he throws alot more feights and the jab is a range finder but he does throw alot of them mainly to blind the opponent so he can land the power punch behhind it
the body punches are set up better and he seems to have a bigger gas tank and a better boxing brain! he his never going to be a suger ray leonard but he has started to be a bit more techincal but its the aggression and the cutting off the ring and the right distance which has been impressive
garcia does alot of things well but he his easy to hit and i dont believe wide punching from garcia with his left hook hope shot will be the answer lucas will straighter and land his more crisp and powerful punches i see him busting up garcia towards a mid to late stoppage
Oh and i agree this was a horrible stoppage. Harris was doing perfectly well in the round and git hit with a couple shots. No grounds to stop the fight...
Matthysse has not fought enough top jww contenders with power for you to post your third sentence. Judah and Alexander boxed Matthysse. They didn't run. They also didn't fight Matthysse's fight. Matthysse will find out soon why you need a jab in this game.

You can land on Matthysse, but the question is can you land often and hard enough to stop him landing his own shots on you?
Because if he starts land on you he will either take you out, or wear you down. There really aren't any fighters in and around the JWW weightclass outside of Mayweather who have to ability to nullify the kind of offence that Matthysse has.
So far only two guys have survived the distance and both did so by running and spoiling as much as possible before what should have been quite clear decision losses.Matthysse has not fought enough top jww contenders with power for you to post your third sentence. He was doing the same thing that he was doing against Harris that he did to Peterson. My bottom line point is that you can land the jab and straight right hand on Matthysse. It's always tricky, but if you set Matthysse up, you can land that combo. You also have to be able to take a decent shot too.

Couldn't disagree more with your assessment of Matthysse. For one thing, he's not the same fighter. Back then Matthysse was mostly just a stalker who would wear the other figher down, now he sets traps and looks for holes to exploit.
He's also physically bigger, regularly weighing over 160 fight night. He's a stronger fighter now.
Also, before he fought a few of the top ranked fighters, Matthysse was just a little awe struck by top level competition. Now he knows he belongs, and so he pushes harder to get the opposition out of there.
Zab Judah would never go the distance against the Matthysse that we have all witnessed the past several fights.
Danny Garcia will not see the final bell either. He was doing the same thing that he was doing against Harris that he did to Peterson.
