It's been awhile since Phil Anselmo has done much talking/writing about boxing. Check out the interview below where he talks the heavyweight and middleweight divisions as well as his supreme distaste for Adrien Broner:
Phil Anselmo Gets into the Ring with Vanyaland.
Filthy Phil has always been a huge boxing fan. He was always wearing Everlast shirts back in the concert days as well. Good to hear some of his more recent opinions. But don't expect this to get many replies. Most of the kids on here have no clue what good music sounds like. Now if you were to make a thread titled "Young Jeezy Sandwich makes Mayweather diss rap LOLZ!!!!" you would get 10 million views. Those 13 year old white kids sure love garbage.
Phils on my personal all time greatest metal singers list! Rip dime
I disagree tho broner did beat paulie! But that if paulie actually had pop. Woulda been a very different outcome! Hell if that had been the case broner woyld have never fought paulie in the first place! Lmbo
Back when Pantera were at their peak, the rumor going round was that Phil had one of the most extensive boxing libraries in the world on video. And he was considered enough of an expert that there was a time where it looked like he might get into announcing. Then the drugs crept in and he had that well-publicized overdose and I think the major networks decided to just stay away. His stuff for Boxing Insider though is a great read and yeah, he is definitely a big fan above all else.
I never knew that. Some people think that Metal and mainstream sports do not go well together but I always disagreed. It's cool to know that Anselmo is like that also.
I used to listen to Pantera a lot when I was younger but I was not aware that Phil actually wrote columns and all. I suppose he just gives his insight as a fan and the fact that he is known gives him the opportunity to have his articles published.

Anyway, I agree 100% with what he said about the Malignaggi vs. Broner fight regarding workrate and being effective. It depends on what you like. I liked workrate in this case and, to me, it was close enough to be a draw.
