I understand the hype surrounding May/Canelo and Garcia/Matthysse but I feel like there's not much being said about this barn burner in the making. Both of them coming off of losses and trying to raise their stock should equate to fireworks in the ring. Yes, theres speculation of the winners of the aforementioned fights possibly facing each other but I feel like the winner of Pac/Rios could potentially be a great match for Matthysse/Garcia/ and of course, Mayweather. I intentionally leave Canelo out for the obvious reason (weight).. but then again could Pac/Canelo be made? Money talks and catchweights do as well. The favorite in that fight would be determined by their performances in their upcoming bouts. How about Rios? Him and Matthysse/Garcia would be crazy as well. We're at a point in time/boxing where there are some phenonmenal fights lurking around the corner. Pac vs Rios being one of them.
Fight is in November. The fight is being promoted in China. The fight is between two losers. It'd make more sense on the undercard of a Marquez v Alvarado fight.
People have given up on proper matchups and are buying "entertainment". Pacquiao provides entertainment. Garcia-Matthysse is entertainment. Canelo-Floyd is not...that's why it's called an "event"....like the eclipse.
This is a tune-up for pacman, but it will be an extremely entertaining tune-up. Make no mistake this fight is basically to see what pacman has left before he has another big fight.
Plus theres still like 3 months till the fight.
The TS like to see people jumping up and down for a fight thatll be happening in November thats funny because it shows that hes the one's who is so excited about it wanting people to feel the same way he does and do the same thing so hell not look stupid, calm down TS youll have your time.
I'm not sleeping on this fight..I'm actually excited for it,this really could turn out to be a FOTY or a more competitive fight then giving credit for tbh..Rios is not going to have respect for Pac,he's coming to win..That with in it self is going to be great..With both fighters styles..:fing02:
I'am sleeping on this fight if scum bag Arum doesn't put a decent undercard to this PPV. If Pac beat Rios who cares if Rios Ko's Pac then the Pacman was shot.
Yes people are sleeping! Though I do agree with Public Enemy that there are a number of great fights that take place before this fight so it has to wait its turn but people don't realize this fight will probably be entertaining on a Garcia vs. Lucas level
Below is from a previous post of mine
Rios is going to be 160lbs plus on fight night against Manny who will be about 150lbs. Rios is going to be even stronger and his chin will be sturdier. I still got Pac by late rounds KO because Rios's defense is too leaky (he's not superman afterall) but whoever thinks this fight won't be fun while is last is on something... This will be a fight that even if in defeat Rios's Name will grow way bigger with a spirited performance and get him more money fights. I predict Manny will struggle in this fight and even be hurt multiple times but triumph in the end to win a thrilling FOTY!
Thats what im saying. It'll be great. I was on my run today and for some reason it just hit me.. pacquiao vs rios? Thats a good fn fight. Yea, its far away but still..
I aint sleeping on this fight..
manny-haters will say rios a bum, yada yada...
Rios has a great style to see if manny has any lasting effects of that brutal ko...
I remember everybody complaining about the Roy-glenjohnson fight because glen had like 11 losses,, and yes it was free hbo,
Glen took it to roy and ko'd him........
i remember watching that fight, thinking ok roy, turn it on,, he is going to turn it on next round,, roy never turned it on, and was ko'd....
Same thing could happen to manny with rios......
However the fight goes, it will be non-stop action,,, this wont be like a hopkins or floyd fight...

It should be an entertaining scrap, it just isn't all that meaningful it is not totally meaningless because it is still a big opportunity for Rios and for Manny for get another shot at the big time. So it is a step down from the meaning Manny's fights once had although generally speaking it is still really meaningful compared to most fight just not as much as another fight that is happening before it
Floyd/Canelo, Matthysse/Garcia and Bradley/Marquez are all better matchups and they all happen sooner. Pac/Rios will be an exciting fight while it lasts though. It just shouldn't be PPV imo. I wouldn't say the fight is overlooked. It just has to wait its turn. The fight isn't until November after all.
Fun fight that shouldnt come with a price tag especially since both coming off loses and one isnt even a top fighter, plus it has an awful awful undercard. We get to pay to watch Shimming 3rd pro fight now and that in itself is crap.
Its a fun fight but its just that. Marquez/Bradley, and Floyd/Nelo are much more important fights.
PAC/Rios will probably be the best action fight of all three though.
It's behind two big fights, Mayweather and then Bradley-Marquez. It will be hyped when the time comes. It's still summer man, this fight is in the fall LOL
Rios is the typical face first brawler with little to no skill and Pacquiao for all we know could be a shell of himself. With that said even Pac at 50% should be more than enough to beat the hell out of Rio.
To be fair, Bob Arum had been planning a Rios Vs Pacquiao fight since 2011.
It was always his plan, rather Rios or Pac lost we were gonna see this fight.
Plus this is a easy fight for Pacquiao, although he might be on the decline, Manny is still good for a fighter for Rios.
