First off I didn't even know UFC was on last night but if you are like me and beat down by friends and some people on Facebook about how awesome UFC and how boxing is dead and pay attention to this stuff. UFC drew 2.02 million average viewers last night and attendance was 6 or 7 thousand. Their viewership was an all time low. Meanwhile boxing had a fantastic night with about 9 thousand in attendance and tremendous action. Don't forget that Cunningham-Adamek drew an average of 1.6 million viewers at 3pm on NBC. Fox cannot be happy. I am so happy that the novelty of the UFC seems to be fading. Remember when Dana said that in 10 years the UFC would be standing side by side with the NFL as the most popular sport in America? Idiot.
UFC is a fad and had it's peak already with that WWE steroid freak running things. ratings are down, shows areb eing canceled, and even UFC fans are complaining about the sport.
Because we never hear or see boxing fans complain about boxing right? And why do u guys care so much? Why does it always have to be boxing vs mma with u guys? As if u guys are getting paid double if boxing gets a good rating. Just be happy to be able to watch both sports. U guys are weird getting all worked up over mma.
Did anybody see Melvin Guillard knockout Mac Danzig though? It was brutal. Hammerfists made that poor kid cry and moan in pain and his nose looked shattered.
Anyways...
I think although boxing has a small, core audience, that core audience is extremely engaged and dedicated to the sport. I think the UFC fan base is made up heavily of casual fans. That may be why the allure of the sport is fading. It's not as novel/new as it once was plus people haven't really fully connected with many of the stars. It's harder for MMA fighters to truly transcend the sport like certain guys in boxing has because the UFC's model is about the UFC, not the athlete. That has it's benefits but it also has its cons.

Lol i went through the same exact *****, I argued with several of my mma friends. They tried so hard to convince boxing is a dying sport. So so pathetic, they obviously don't know **** about the sweet science. It has its up and down just like any other sports but it has exploded! Fock, we are getting classic fights left and right like never before. I'm glad ufc came around and put some pressure on boxing and boxing has responded! Saturday was a amazing night of boxing! Ufc is fading like I told them it would. Its nothing but a new trend that everybody wants to check out... It hit it's peak already.. It ain't getting any bigger.
the only interesting fight on that card was Rory McDonald and that was a snoozer. You're attacking a card that wasn't that big or interesting to begin with.
Same commission, same weak testing/punishment and the UFC are just as proactive (meaning they don't care) as boxing promoters.
I don't know about that. I remember they did their own drug testing for UFC 153 in Brazil where they don't have commissions and they suspended Dave Herman for a year for just smoking weed, and they caught Bonnar juicing for his fight with Anderson Silva that night. They were going to suspend him but he retired anyway.
I think its because in boxing they usually only get a slap on the wrist compared to what UFC fighters get. In boxing Roy, Holyfield, and Gamboa who were all linked never got into any trouble at all. UFC fighters get suspended for a year. I know not all boxers get off scott free but UFC fighters who gotten the more consistent punishments.

Thats absolutely not true. U really must not follow ufc

If the UFC put Jose Aldo, GSP, Cain, or Anderson vs Weidman their numbers would be nice. Mighty Mouse has main evented 2 of the last 3 and like I said it's like Ivan Calderon being picked to main event a primetime network. He's all technique and not marketable at all. The one that he wasn't on was Melendez vs Henderson for the Lightweight title and they had a Dawson-Hopkins type stinker. Henderson has turned into GSP instead of looking to finish he wants to pin point his way to hold on to his belt. UFC on Fox 5 was awesome the whole card was great fights. That didn't do to well because they had wrestler vs wrestler Rashad vs Phil Davis main event UFC on Fox 4 so everybody lost interest a long time ago. It really all started with making the first one just show one fight and that heavyweight title fight lasted 2 minutes. When the rest of the card was sick. It's been a disaster and who's directed the shows either Fox or in UFC really needs to be fired.
I seriously cannot understand how boxing fans cannot like the ufc. Catch a stream this Saturday and watch possibly the best and most exciting fighter in the sport, José Aldo . leg kicks from hell!
I agree and disagree.
They have overused their legends and are not promoting new talent well enough. Plus they had that month or 2 of a huge amount of cuts to bring in a womans and flyweight roster so now everybodys fighting safe to keep a job where their extremely underpaid anyway.
I dont agree its a fad though. Demitrious Johnson was the main event ffs. Thats like putting Ivan Calderon on CBS or NBC. This proves my point he fought a guy who only fought on facebook prelims which no more then a few hundred people even watch if that. They need to stop putting so much stock into PPV because boxing is getting more ratings on premium channels. They need to put bigger fights on fox thats why their losing steam. I dont see it dying off though.

After silva "appered" to took a dive in his last fight no one cares about ufc or any mma
Silva isn't even a top draw, neighter is Jon Jones, they don't break a million buys on ppv. UFC stock has crashed its why they are hyping up Ronda Rousey they are getting desperate for views and buys. So they are taking the Sex sells route.
Once Ronda loses UFC has nobody left, GSP is plagued with injuries, Silva lose, Jon Jones can't really draw more than 500k on ppv.
The fox ratings are low compared to what they had on ****e.
This is what Dana White gets for claiming Boxing is getting eating up by UFC and that UFC would over take boxing which was your grand pas sport.

Thanks for making a thread about MMA in a forum called Non Stop Boxing.

Exactly.
also remember showtime gave mma the boot for boxing.
hbo doesn't even show the crap or care about it and soon fox will boot it as well.
