plus guys like
Ayub kalule and Aaron Pryor who could have easily go up to 147.
......Cuevas, Curry weren't too shabby either.
José Cuevas, Sugar Ray Leonard, Wilfred Benítez, Carlos Palomino, Thomas Hearns, and Roberto Durán.
Very loaded division. In an era where they went 15 rounds. Most are Hall of Famers, 3 are top 10 all time greats. 80 is one the best eras for the 147 division. Not including the monsters that could easily jump up/move down.
The top three IMO is the mid 40s to early 50s, the 1960s, and the late 70s/early 80s.
not much between them...leh go!!!
I think you are correct. But the thing about floyd and manny is they are the biggest stars in the sport by far. when has the ww division ever had the 2 biggest stars in the sport at the same time?
In my lifetime is the one when Cotto, Margarito, Pacquiao, DLH, Clottey, Paul Williams Im kind of sure Im forgetting some but it was SOLID!
Basically when Mayweather retired....
Dlh only came down to fight manny

leonard fought the linear 154 pound champ as a tuneup. floyd vs drained canelo at 152 is a super fight. boxing certainly has changed.

40's and 50s and it's not close. Reason: talent pool/interest at the time.
I agree...from say 45 to 55 there was Gavilan, ray Robinson, Burley, Demarco, basilio, Saxton, billy Graham, red Cochran and a host of good contenders
i'm gonna go with the floyd-judah-baldomir era. you got the greatest fighter of all time floyd mayweather, you got tough as nails linear champ carlos baldomir who was wrecking everyone and everything in sight, and you got zab judah who is a slick southpaw who has fought everyone!
How about being serious for a change and agreeing that it was from around 1915 to 1940 and then 1945-55. Then of course the Hearns Leonard- period. The Trinidad period was pretty fair.
