Fighter of the Year is wide open

Fighter of the year usually comes down to 2 guys, maybe 3 But this year with it already half over, the award is wide open.. look at this fighters and possible scenarios... 1. Floyd beats canelo like he did ghost it will be very impressive, beating #1 contender at welter and then beating young stud like canelo 2. Canelo beating trout and if he beats floyd would have to be FOTY.. That would be a huge year for any fighter 3. Rigo he already dismantled top5 p4p guy in doniare and if he can get another quality win 4. lucas has already blown out peterson and adding danny garcia would be a huge year 5. GGG if he can land a victory over murray or geale would have been on a rampage this year... 6. Mikey Garcia has cleaned out featherweight and one more big name fight like gamboa or rocky would make him a darkhorse...

Give it to Rigo. Masterfully outclassed a former top ten p4p fighter with no trouble whatsoever. My vote would be for him if he gets in one more fight before the year is over

It's Matthysse depending on whether he stops Garcia in style. I think the only one who could beat that is Canelo in defeating Trout and Mayweather.

For Mikey to get FOTY, he would have to destroy Rocky and Gamboa by the end of the year, which is possible but very unlikely. Hopefully he can get both, then there won't be any argument of who the FOTY is.

Little surprised that Froch doesn't even get a mention, but GGG does. GGG hasn't really beaten anyone, whereas Froch has unified the belts and will potentially beat another unbeaten #1 ranked challenger. Thoughts?

Not at all It is already reserved to Rigondeaux , and the only contender is Canelo if he K.O Mayweather or win fair UD . Mayweather can't be FOTY with win over average fighter and weight-drained prospect

If Marquez destroys Bradley he definitely should get it. Same with Canelo destroying Mayweather. Same with Matthysse destroying Garcia (which at this point turns into a popularity contest)

Only reason why Donaire won it last year because Ward only fought once; Manny lost twice; Floyd only fought once and Bradley 1 win win was tainted. Floyd would've probably still been in the running had he only fought Canelo this year, this match-up is being hyped up to the moon.

bradley "beat" pacquiao, how does it not still make him fighter of the year? Bradley beating Provodnikov/Marquez would probably make him a candidate, but I don't think it's enough. I guess it depends on his performance.

Rigondeaux over Donaire is still a better win than any foreseeable win in a scheduled fight. If Alvarez were to end Floyd in a couple rounds that would obviously be better, but I don't think that has much chance of happening.
